*Jindong Teng* (Lonicerae Japonicae Caulis) is *Jinyinhua* (*Flos Lonicerae Japonicae*). Add *Beimu* (*Fritillariae Bulbus*), *Gancao Jie* (Node of *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*), *Tianhuafen* (*Trichosanthis Radix*), *Ju Pi* (*Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium*), *Danggui* (*Angelicae Sinensis Radix*), *Fangfeng* (*Saposhnikoviae Radix*), *Baizhi* (*Angelicae Dahuricae Radix*), *Ruxiang* (*Olibanum*), *Moyao* (*Myrrha*), *Zaogel Ci* (*Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina*), and *Chuanshanjia* (*Manis Squama*).
For all types of *Yongju* (carbuncles and sores, i.e., suppurative infections of the skin and subcutaneous tissues) and unknown malignant ulcers in their initial stage, this formula is indicated.
*Yongju* arise from the reversal of Qi and Blood in the muscle tissue, compounded by the coagulation of Cold and Dampness, and the struggle between Wind and Fire. Redness, swelling, and sharp pain indicate a Yang pattern, termed *Yong* (carbuncle). Deep hardness and black depression indicate a Yin pattern, termed *Ju* (sore/abscess). If the condition is severe with high fever, decreasing appetite, and insomnia day and night, the symptoms are critical and dangerous. Decoct with pure wine for administration. This is because *Jinyinhua*, *Gancao Jie*, *Tianhuafen*, *Beimu*, and *Ju Pi* clear heat and resolve toxicity, while also promoting diuresis to remove dampness and phlegm. *Danggui*, *Fangfeng*, *Baizhi*, *Ruxiang*, and *Moyao* invigorate blood and disperse wind, further alleviating pain and protecting membranes. *Zaogel Ci* and *Chuanshanjia* guide the preceding herbs directly to the site of disease to break stagnation and dissolve hardness. The use of wine decoction aims to circulate the medicinal power throughout the body, causing the pathogenic factors to dissipate rapidly. To survive after taking it, if not a "Fairy Formula," what else could it be?
The poem states:
Add powder of *Moyao* to the Fairy Formula as a meal,
The nursing mother returns home but cannot bear to leave.
*Baizhi*, *Ju Pi*, and *Gancao* can guide the year,
Gathering herbs, avoid thorns, do not use *Chuanshanjia*.
*Qianghuo* (*Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix*), *Fangfeng*, *Baizhi*, *Chuanshanjia*, *Chenxiang* (*Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum*), *Honghua* (*Carthami Flos*), *Lianqiao* (*Forsythiae Fructus*), *Jinyinhua*, *Zaogel Ci*, *Huafen* (*Trichosanthis Radix*), *Shu Dahuang* (*Rhei Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle*), *Shijueming* (*Concha Arcae*), *Ruxiang*, *Danggui*, *Gancao*.
For the initial stage of *Yongju*, characterized by red, swollen, painful lesions with a high apex and active base, thin and shiny skin, and a floating, large, and forceful pulse, when *Huo Ming Yin* (Prescription for Saving Life) is ineffective, this formula is indicated. The explanation of the previous formula has been detailed earlier. The reason for its ineffectiveness is the sudden onset of fever, headache, and constipation of both stool and urine. Therefore, *Beimu*, *Ju Pi*, and *Moyao* are removed; instead, *Qianghuo* and *Chenxiang* are used to ascend internally and release externally, forcing pathogens out through the exterior. *Dahuang* and *Lianqiao* provide mild clearing and draining, allowing toxins to exit via urination and defecation. *Shijueming* and *Honghua* address the swelling caused by blood stasis and the pus formed from phlegm transformation. After two or three doses, unformed pus will dissipate, and formed pus will rupture. Naming it *Wei Sheng Tang* (Health Preservation Decoction) is appropriate; claiming it was divinely bestowed is likely not necessarily true.
The poem states:
Fifteen ingredients, nine from the previous formula,
Remove *Beimu*, *Chuan* (referring to Chuanxiong or similar), *Ju*, *Moyao*, and *Xiang*;
Select *Qianghuo*, *Honghua*, *Chenxiang*, and *Shijueming*,
*Dahuang* and *Lianqiao* prepare the Health Preservation Decoction.
