The slowly forming Crescent-Shaped Obstruction (Yanyue Zhang) clearly adheres to the Wind Wheel (Cornea), gradually covering the Pupil (Tongshen); who can perceive such a thin obstruction? Damp-heat stagnates in the brain, and the Liver is eroded by anger. Do not wait until it resembles a jujube flower; at that stage, one will be so dim and dizzy that standing upright becomes difficult.
This condition occurs at the junction of the Wind and Qi Wheels (Cornea and Sclera), manifesting as an obstruction like a crescent moon, thinly covering downwards with a pinkish-blue color. It is neither purely internal nor external, seemingly exuding a glutinous fluid from the White Eye (Sclera). Initially unnoticed, it gradually spreads to half of the Wind Wheel before taking shape. Subsequently, obstructions form around the entire Wind Wheel, layer upon layer, resembling jujube flowers or sawteeth, thereby impairing vision. This results from the decline of True Yang, fatigue caused by excessive activity, sweat-dampness stagnating in the head, combined with dietary indulgence, alcohol consumption, irregular sleep patterns, and the steaming transformation of turbid Yang. Progressing from superficial to deep, if not regulated, once spiritual light (vision) is suddenly lost, even sincere seeking for treatment will be futile. If the upper part of the wheel is slight while the lower part is dense, it is called Inverted Moon Obstruction (Yangyue), with identical symptoms.
Cat-eye pupils are naturally black and bright, while blue eyes with square pupils are indeed rare in the world. When they transform into shapes resembling almonds, peppercorns, or jujube pits, occasionally glimpsing them is no longer strange.
In this condition, the Golden Well (Pupil) is tilted, resembling almonds, jujube pits, peppercorns, or half-moons. This is due to extreme dryness-heat in the Yangming channel, failure of transmission and transformation, inability to process food and fluids to nourish the Gallbladder and Kidney, leading to internal stirring of Xun Wind (Liver Wind). Consequently, the Divine Paste (vitreous humor and intraocular tissues) dries up. Once dried, the Water Wheel (Cornea and Pupil) has no foundation, inevitably tilting east and west, thus producing the aforementioned appearance. As the saying goes, "How can there be intact eggs under a broken nest?" If the eye ruptures and paste flows out, slowly resulting in this state, it must have previously suffered from Crab-Eye Obstruction (Bullous Keratopathy/Corneal Granuloma). After the Crab-Eye Obstruction subsides, the pupil cannot return to roundness, and membrane traces remain outside the wheel for life. For human eyes in this condition, if light perception remains, treatment is possible; if light perception is lost, treatment is equivalent to no treatment.
Heavenly Rotation (Tianxuan): The white of the eye exceeds the black, making patients relatively easy to identify. They look east but glance west; the disease has entered deeply, seeming ready to exit. People feel offended and angry; if not arrogant, others stand alert.
Smart since childhood without a teacher's guidance, hindered from medicinal treatment in adulthood due to lack of lineage.
This condition involves strabismus (crossed eyes) and deviation, where the eyelids droop and tilt. It is a disease contracted in infancy, hence named Heavenly Rotation. Its causes vary: some suffer from wind-heat attacking upwards in infancy, causing sudden contraction of the brain tendons; some experience convulsive winds (tetanus-like symptoms) twisting the meridians, failing to dissipate; some sleep near windows or lamps, gazing at light for too long, causing stagnation and deviation of the eye connections; some are held by wet nurses feeding milk all night without changing sides. All these cases should be treated urgently while young. If left until adulthood, when tendons and ligaments are fixed and qi-blood habits are formed, recovery is impossible. However, it does not harm clarity of vision, though it invites ridicule of being called "pig-head sheep-eye."
It is common for fathers, sons, and brothers in one family to have such eyes. If attributed to heredity, it contradicts previous speculation; if attributed to pathology, why are they so similar? The underlying principle is likely inexplicable.
