Take Wumei Rou (Endocarpium Pruni Mume, 1 liang), Changshan (Radix Dichroae), Biejia (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis, roasted with fire, 2 liang), Xiangchi (Fermented Soybean), Shuqi (Herba Pteridis Massalii), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Rongrong (Cibotii Rhizoma), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi), Zhimu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae), and Taoren (Semen Persicae, skin and tip removed). Crush and grind these ingredients to make pills the size of *wu* seeds (seeds of *Koelreuteria paniculata*). Take 30 pills on an empty stomach with wine. This treats malaria; whether it is zhang malaria, tan malaria, or any other type of malaria, all can be cured.
Treats cough with qi reversal, frequent expectoration of turbid phlegm, where the patient can only sit upright and cannot lie down:
Zaojiao (Fructus Gleditsiae Sinensis, 8 liang, scraped of skin, roasted with su [animal fat]).
Grind the above single ingredient into fine powder. Mix with honey to form pills the size of *wu* seeds. Take 3 pills at a time, mixed with jujube paste and decoction, three times during the day and once at night.
Take Baimingfan (Alumen, 1 liang) and Zhu Ya Zaojiao (Fructus Gleditsiae Sinensis, 4 strips, remove black skin). Grind these two ingredients into powder. Treat sudden collapse due to wind-stroke, coma, flooding of saliva/phlegm, and convulsions. Mix with water and administer via gavage. It is excellent if phlegm is vomited out.
Another prescription: Dissolve 1 liang of Mingfan in water. Take 6 grains of Jiangziren (Semen Crotonis Tiglii), split each grain in half. Slice 3 qian of Zaojiao. Stir uniformly into the alum solution until the alum dries up. Treats wind-stroke aphasia, lockjaw, dan e and shuang e (tonsillitis/throat swelling). Use 3 fen of powder blown into the affected area for cure of various diseases. For those with excessive phlegm obstruction, take 5 fen with Dengxincao decoction; phlegm in the throat will be vomited out, and phlegm in the diaphragm will be discharged.
Another prescription: Take 2 grains of Jiangziren (skin and membrane removed) and a piece of Baifan the size of a thumb. Grind into powder. Place these two ingredients on a new tile and heat until Jiangzi turns red. Refine with honey to make pills the size of *qianshi* (seeds of *Euryale ferox*). Take one pill per dose, wrapped in cotton, place near the throat in the patient's mouth for a long time until phlegm is vomited out, achieving immediate relief. Treats acute wind-stroke with closed mouth, salivary obstruction leading to apparent death; one dose brings recovery.
Take Qingfan (Vitriolum Caeruleum, pure quality, 7 qian) and Badou (Semen Crotonis Tiglii, 1 grain, shell removed, ground). Grind Qingfan into powder, melt on a tile, add Badou inside, wait until the alum is dry, then grind finely. Use "yi zi" (approx. 0.5-1g) amount, blow into the throat and pharynx with a bamboo tube. Effect is achieved when saliva/phlegm is expelled. Treats various conditions of the throat.
Take Zaojiao (40 strips, cut), soak in 3 dou of water overnight. Decoct until 1.5 dou remains. Add Renshen powder (0.5 liang) and Gancao powder (1 liang). Decoct until 5 sheng remain. Filter the dregs. Add Jiu (wine, 1 sheng) and Fu Mei (soot from the bottom of the cooking pot, 2 bi). Decoct until syrup-like consistency. Store in a bottle buried underground overnight. Each time, dissolve one spoonful in warm wine. Continue until foul phlegm is completely expelled. Afterwards, hold Gancao slices in the mouth. Treats nine types of Hou Bi (throat obstruction), Ji Hou Bi (acute throat obstruction), Chan Hou Feng (wind-wrapping throat), Jie Hou Lan (swollen throat ulceration), Mu She (wooden tongue), Fei Si Ru Kou (flying silk entering the mouth), and other conditions.
