[Angelica Sinensis and Astragalus Decoction]
Take Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, 2 liang), Astragali Membranacei Radix (Huangqi, 2 liang), and Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao, 1.5 liang, stir-fried). For each dose, use 5 qian, add 3 slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), decoct in water, and take orally. It treats postpartum conditions.
[Decoction for Elderly Constipation]
Take Astragali Membranacei Radix (Mian Huangqi) and Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi, peeled), each 1.5 liang. Grind the above herbs into fine powder. For each dose, take 3 qian. Take 1 he of Cannabis Fructus (Dama Ren), crush it thoroughly, mix with water to extract the juice, filter out the dregs. Boil the juice in a silver or ceramic vessel until milky foam appears. Add 1 large spoonful of Mel (Bai Mi), boil again until bubbling. Mix in the herbal powder and take on an empty stomach. It treats severe constipation and sluggish bowel movements in the elderly and frail. Two doses are sufficient for cure.
[Decoction for Numbness]
Take Astragali Membranacei Radix (Huangqi, 3 liang), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle (Zhi Gancao), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), each 1 liang; Ginseng Radix (Renshen, 8 qian); Viticis Fructus (Manjingzi, 1 qian); and Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Juhong, 5 fen). Use the same dosage as above, take before going to bed. It treats general numbness and loss of sensation, or numbness on either the left or right side of the body, or numbness of the head, face, arms, hands, legs, and feet. It is also indicated for accompanying symptoms such as eyes tightly closed, photophobia, difficulty opening the eyes due to dryness/astringency, weak vision, eye pain sensitive to touch, or a sensation of fire in the eyes during the day.
[Decoction for Blood Deficiency and Fire Hyperactivity]
Take Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata (Shu Dihuang, 2 qian), Rehmanniae Radix (Sheng Dihuang, 3 qian), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, 1 qian), Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, 2.5 qian), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma, 1 qian), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao, 0.5 liang), Moutan Cortex (Mudanpi, 1 qian), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, 2 qian), and Astragali Membranacei Radix (Huangqi, 1 qian). For each dose, take 5 qian, add 2 large bowls of water, decoct until 1 bowl remains, filter out the dregs, and take when slightly warm. If over-supplementation leads to overflow and depletion upwards, presenting with a "Kou" pulse (intermediate emptiness) at both Cun positions (where the pulse is felt at the ends but empty in the middle and weak), this is called Kou pulse. If blood is in the Upper Jiao, manifesting as epistaxis or hematemesis, using Xijiao Dihuang Tang will cure it. To treat the emptiness of the six pulses, which necessarily presents with facial flushing, frightfulness, and upper heat, this indicates the pulse of the Hand-Shaoyin Heart meridian. This condition arises from excessive Qi and loss of Blood. One must use sweet-cold heavy-sinking agents to greatly drain the excess Qi, and use sweet-acrid-warm, slightly bitter-sour agents to tonify the Blood.
[Decoction for Night Sweats]
Take Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai), Rehmanniae Radix (Sheng Dihuang), Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata (Shu Dihuang), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), each 1.5 qian; and Astragali Membranacei Radix (Huangqi, 2 qian). Prepare as one dose, add 2 zhong of water, and decoct. Take before going to bed. This is a sacred medicine for treating night sweats.
[Yueju Wan]
Also known as Xiongzhu Wan, it treats Six Stagnations, manifesting as chest and diaphragm fullness and oppression, acid regurgitation, vomiting, and indigestion. This is a formula by Xue Lizhai, added with Crataegi Fructus (Shanzha) and Malto (Maiya).
Ingredients: Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Cangzhu, soaked in rice wash water and stir-fried), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Fuxiong), Gardeniae Fructus (Shanzhi, stir-fried until black), Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu, vinegar-fried), and Massа Medicata Fermentata (Shenqu, stir-fried until fragrant).
Grind the above ingredients in equal proportions into powder. Make pills using water drops, size of mung beans. Take 60-70 pills per dose with boiling white water. In spring, add Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng); in summer, add Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen); in autumn and winter, add Evodiae Fructus (Wuzhuyu). This corresponds to what is stated in the *Neijing*...
According to Danxi: "When Qi and Blood are harmonious, no disease arises; once there is stagnation, various diseases emerge." Therefore, most diseases in the human body arise from stagnation. Cangzhu and Fuxiong generally resolve all types of stagnation, with additions based on specific syndromes.
