Lily Bulb, Trichosanthes Root, and Oyster Shell are each taken in equal amounts, ground into a powder, and administered as a decoction. Each dose is one *fangcun bi* (a square-inch measure), taken three times daily. It treats cases of Baihe Bing (Lily Disease) that have not resolved.
This refers to the combination of Lily Bulb with Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction), used to treat insomnia in elderly or weak individuals. It is also indicated for Chi Mai Huan Se (Slow and Choppy Pulse at the Chi Position). The Chi pulse governs the abdomen and back; a slow pulse indicates Re Zhong (Heat accumulating internally), while a choppy pulse presents symptoms that are indescribable. The condition manifests as neither hot nor cold, neither weak nor strong. Could this not be termed "Jie" (a specific pathological state)? Only the syndrome of Baihe aligns with this description.
Lily Bulb and Adenophora Flower (Kundonghua) are taken in equal amounts, ground into fine powder, and formed into honey pills the size of a longan fruit. Each pill is chewed thoroughly or held in the mouth to dissolve. It treats persistent coughing and wheezing, especially when blood is present in the sputum.
Lily Bulb is cooked until yellow, then ground into powder. Each dose is one *fangcun bi*, taken with water, three times daily. It treats Baihe Bing patients presenting with abdominal fullness and pain. *Qianjin Fang* uses dried Lily Bulb boiled in water, two qian per dose, twice daily, to treat deafness and ear pain.
Fresh Lily Bulb (four liang) is steamed soft with honey. A piece is held in the mouth frequently, swallowing the saliva. It treats cough caused by heat accumulation in the Lung Zang (Viscera). *Weisheng Yijian Fang* uses fresh Lily Bulb crushed and mixed with water for drinking, treating hemoptysis due to Lung disease; it may also be cooked and eaten.
Concentrated decoction of Lily Bulb, one sheng, is taken to treat Yin Du Shanghan (Yin Toxin Cold Damage). This is a prescription from Sun Simiao.
Five liang of Lily Bulb are ground into powder, mixed with honey water, applied around the neck, and wrapped. Effect is seen within three to five applications.
It treats Fu Shu Yin Yin (Latent Summerheat leading to thirst), dry throat, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Xiangru (Elsholtzia Herb, 8 liang, cleaned); Baibian Dou (Lablab Seed, 4 liang, lightly stir-fried, husked); Houpo (Magnolia Bark, 4 liang, peeled, stir-fried with ginger juice).
These three ingredients are chopped. Each dose is three qian, boiled in one cup of water with a little wine until reduced to seventy percent, then taken when cooled. Another formula adds Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, 2 liang), stir-fried with ginger juice until yellow, named Huanglian Wan.
This is Xiangru Yin (Elsholtia Decoction) plus Fushen (Poria with Hostwood, 4 liang) and Gancao (Licorice Root, 2 liang), ground into powder and taken with boiling water; a little salt may be added.
This is Xiangru Yin plus Yigong San, Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), and Mugua (Chaenomeles Fruit), ground into powder. Two qian per dose, taken with hot or cold water. It dissipates summerheat and harmonizes the Spleen and Stomach.
This is Shiwei Xiangru Yin minus Huangqin, Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), and Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), plus Sharen (Amomum Fruit), Xingren (Apricot Seed), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber), Huoxiang (Pogostemon Herb), Jiang (Ginger), and Zao (Jujube), boiled and taken. It treats disharmony between Heart and Spleen, dysfunction of Qi ascending and descending, causing Huoluan Xiexie (Cholera-like diarrhea), alternating chills and fever, indistinct Yin and Yang in Shanghan, exposure to summerheat, latent heat causing restlessness, progression to Liji (Dysentery), or post-alcohol thirst and aversion to food.
This is Xiangru Tang minus Houpo and Baibian Dou, plus Zisu Ye (Perilla Leaf), Mugua, Huoxiang, Tanxiang (Sandalwood), and Dingxiang (Clove), ground into fine powder and formed into honey pills. It treats adults and children suffering from summerheat and latent heat causing dizziness and oppression, and all types of summerheat diseases. One or two pills per dose, chewed thoroughly and taken with warm water.
