This is Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) and Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) removed, and Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) and Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) added. It is used to treat conditions caused by damage to the Spleen and Stomach due to irregular diet and overexertion, resulting in Spleen and Stomach deficiency, fullness and obstruction in the four limbs making flexion and extension difficult, heaviness of the body, vexation, tastelessness in the mouth, anorexia, irregular urination and defecation, or unsifted diarrhea (Sunxie, diarrhea with undigested food), chest fullness, shortness of breath, and weakness in the pharynx and diaphragm.
This is Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) removed, and Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Chao Shenqu (Fermented Wheat Mass, stir-fried), and Huangbo (Phellodendri Cortex) added. It is used to treat Spleen and Stomach deficiency, insufficiency of Qi in the Upper Jiao, damage to Yuan Qi (Original Qi) encountered during peak summer heat, leading to lethargy and desire to sleep, inability to gather the four limbs, insufficiency of spirit, flaccidity and weakness in both legs, cold extremities in the morning and evening, and fever like fire when the sun rises high, indicating insufficiency of both Qi and Blood.
This is Renshen Tang (Ginseng Decoction, note: original text "Huang Renshen Tang" likely implies a decoction containing Huangqi and/or Renshen, translated here as Ginseng Decoction based on standard naming conventions for such modifications unless specified otherwise) with Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), and Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) added. It is used to treat damp-heat steaming during late summer, where one contracts this pathogen, leading to fatigue and weariness in the four limbs, shortness of spirit, reluctance to move, pain in the joints, or rapid breathing with panting, feverish sensation with vexation, distension and stuffiness below the heart, red and frequent urination, loose and frequent stools, or diarrhea or thirst, and anorexia.
This is Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) and Sheng Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, raw) added. It is used to treat women with menstrual stagnation, black blood forming clots, blood masses (Xuejia) on the left side of the umbilicus, incessant watery diarrhea, undigested food in stool, sudden violent diarrhea with water rushing down together.
This is Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with Yizhi (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), and Honghua (Carthami Flos) added. It is used to treat dizziness and irritability with slight headache, dislike of food, lethargy in the four limbs, restlessness and heat, abnormal taste perception, borborygmus, slightly loose stools, heavy and muggy sensation in the body, extreme thirst but dislike of cold substances.
This is Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) removed, and Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Caodoukou (Cardamomi Fructus), Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata), and Huangbo (Phellodendri Cortex) added. It is used to treat abdominal and hypochondriac fullness and stuffiness, shortness of breath, tastelessness in the mouth, aversion to cold despite summer heat, feeling full even when hungry and thus disliking food, and dislike of cold substances, all caused by irregular diet and damage from overexertion.
This is Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) removed, and Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) added. It is used to treat headache, feverish sensation, aversion to wind/cold, slight thirst, continuous sweating, soreness and pain throughout the legs, heaviness and fatigue, and weak pulse. Unskilled physicians fail to recognize this as internal injury from labor combined with Qi pathogen contraction, mistakenly treating it as standard Cold Damage (Zheng Shanghan) and inducing severe sweating, thereby worsening a mild condition into a severe one. They do not realize that internal injury from labor combined with cold pathogen should be treated with a small amount of acrid-warm agents to achieve cure. This is named Labor-induced Cold Contraction. The Classic states: "For exhaustion, use warming methods; for deficiency, use warming methods." Sweet-warm herbs can eliminate great heat; this is what is meant.
This is Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) with Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) removed, and Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) added. If Yang deficiency is present, Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) is added. It is used to treat Qi deficiency with Yang collapse (Yang Jue), hidden pulse, and cold extremities.
