The *Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon* states: When preparing to sleep at night and about to close your eyes, stroke the heart area three times with your hand, and softly recite the following incantation: "Tai Ling Jiu Gong (Nine Palaces of Great Spirit), Tai Yi guards the chamber; Hundred deities take their positions, soul and spirit are harmonious; Long life without death, evil spirits are sealed away." After the recitation is complete, go to sleep. This is called the "Jiu Gong Yin Zhu" (Nine Palaces Hidden Incantation), a method for calming the sleeping soul. Practicing this regularly allows one's soul and spirit to remain peaceful, forever attaining auspiciousness.
Sun Simiao stated: People suffering from deficiency consumption (Xu Lao) and yin deficiency with hyperactive fire tend to become angry easily and lose self-control. The Great Hermit of Kunlun provided an incantation to extinguish fire: "Above heaven and below earth, there is only my body; Vital energy moves, ears and eyes become clear; If spirit is lost and qi scatters, in the darkness, the mind is one; Where is wealth? Family matters or relatives' opinions, whether glory or disgrace, let others judge; I now have joy and no anger; Spirit Palace Fairy, Jade Palace True Lord; Remove my troubles, assist my spirit; True elixir forms within, sweep away the six dusts (worldly desires)." Reciting this silently several times makes the five zang organs feel clear and empty, and internal fire subsides. Persisting in recitation over time transforms the weak into the strong and the deficient into the solid, allowing diseases to heal without specific treatment.
When applying moxibustion, one must first rub the acupoint with a slice of garlic before placing the moxa cone; otherwise, the moxa will fall off during movement. If the pain after burning moxa is unbearable, press the finger tightly over the acupoint and then apply pressure with an iron object to stop the pain. If dizziness occurs due to moxibustion, it indicates deficiency of divine qi; pressing a cold object on the treated area will resolve the dizziness. After resting for a while, give the patient thin porridge or ginger soup to strengthen their spirit, and continue the procedure as before.
Moxibustion uses yang to overcome yin; after application, the moxa sore must erupt for the disease to heal. If the sore does not appear, warm an old shoe sole by roasting it and apply it as a hot compress to the area; the sore will erupt within three days. Eating foods such as silver carp tofu can also promote the eruption of the sore. For those with weak qi and blood, regulate them with herbal medicine. Additionally, if the sore has not erupted after moxibustion, apply leaves of *Triadica sebifera* (Chinese tallow tree). If the erupted sore causes unceasing pain, use cypress leaves and hibiscus leaves (harvested at noon on the Dragon Boat Festival, dried in shade, and ground into fine powder). Whenever the black crust of the moxa sore falls off, mix a small amount of powder with water to form a paste, apply it to paper, and place it on the lesion to heal. If the moxa sore bleeds, sprinkle powder made from *Baicao Shuang* (soot from hundred herbs) to stop the bleeding. Another washing method involves decocting green onion leaves and mint, using the warm water to wash the area to expel wind pathogens. If the sore turns black, rots, and hurts, decoct peach branches, willow branches, coriander, and *Coptis chinensis*, and use the warm water to wash. In summary, moxa sores that erupt are easy to heal, while those that do not erupt are difficult to heal, depending on whether the person's primordial qi is sufficient.
