The Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian originates in the Middle Jiao (the region of the spleen and stomach), descends to connect with the Large Intestine, circles around the upper orifice of the stomach, penetrates the diaphragm, and belongs to the Lung. From the lung system (tissues connecting the lung, such as the trachea and larynx), it emerges horizontally at the axilla, descends along the anterior aspect of the medial side of the upper arm, running anterior to the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian and Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian.
The Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian originates at the radial side of the tip of the index finger, follows the radial margin of the finger upwards, emerges between the two bones at the Hegu point (LI4), enters between the two tendons (extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis) upwards, follows the radial margin of the forearm upwards, enters the lateral anterior aspect of the elbow, ascends on the shoulder, emerges anterior to the lateral margin of the clavicle, enters the supraclavicular fossa (Quepen), connects with the Lung, penetrates the diaphragm, and belongs to the Large Intestine. Its branch ascends from the supraclavicular fossa to the head, passes through the cheek, enters the lower gum, re-emerges to flank the corner of the mouth, crosses at the Renzhong point (GV26), left crossing to the right and right to the left, ascending to flank both sides of the nostrils.
The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian originates beside the nose, intersects with the nasal root, adjacent to the Bladder Meridian, descends along the lateral aspect of the nose, enters the gum, re-emerges to flank the corner of the mouth, surrounds the lips, intersects at the Chengjiang point (CV24) below the lower lip, retreats along the posterior inferior margin of the mandible, emerges at the Daying point (ST5), follows the Jiache point (ST6) upwards to the front of the ear, passes through the Kerenzhu point (GB4), follows the hairline to the vertex. Its branch descends from the anterior-inferior aspect of Daying to the Renying point (ST9), follows the throat, enters the supraclavicular fossa, penetrates the diaphragm, belongs to the Stomach, and connects with the Spleen. Its straight course descends from the supraclavicular fossa along the medial margin of the breast, descends flanking the navel, enters the Qi Street (inguinal region where the femoral artery pulses). Its branch originates from the lower orifice of the stomach, descends within the abdominal cavity to meet the straight course at the Qi Street, then descends via the Biguan point (ST31), reaches the Futu point (ST32), descends to the middle of the patella, follows the lateral margin of the tibia downwards, descends to the dorsum of the foot, and enters the space between the toes of the middle toe. Its branch separates three cun below the lateral margin, descending to enter the outer space of the middle toe. Another branch separates from the dorsum of the foot, enters the space between the big toe, and emerges at the tip of the big toe.
The Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian originates at the tip of the big toe, follows the medial margin of the toe, passes over the junction of red and white flesh, goes behind the nuclear bone (base of the first metatarsal), ascends anterior to the medial malleolus, follows the posterior aspect of the tibia upwards, crosses anterior to the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian, ascends along the anterior medial margin of the knee and thigh, enters the abdomen, belongs to the Spleen, and connects with the Stomach. It penetrates the diaphragm, flanks the pharynx, connects with the root of the tongue, and scatters under the tongue. Its branch separates from the stomach, ascends through the diaphragm, and pours into the Heart.
The Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian originates in the Heart, emerges to belong to the Heart System (connections of the heart), descends through the diaphragm, and connects with the Small Intestine. Its branch ascends from the Heart System, flanks the pharynx, and connects with the Eye System (connections linking the eyeball to the brain). Its straight course returns from the Heart System, ascends to the Lung, emerges at the axilla, descends along the posterior medial aspect of the upper arm, running posterior to the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian and Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian, descends to the interior of the elbow, follows the posterior medial aspect of the forearm, reaches the end of the styloid process of the ulna (Rui Gu), enters the posterior medial aspect of the palm, follows the medial side of the little finger, and emerges at the tip of the little finger.
