In the ninth month of pregnancy, the fetus begins to receive the essence of stone (Shi Jing), thereby forming skin and hair. The six fu-organs and all joints are fully developed. Drinking sweet wine, eating sweet foods, and loosening the belt are referred to as nurturing hair and promoting intellectual and physical strength. During this month, the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian nourishes the fetus; acupuncture and moxibustion on this meridian are contraindicated. The Kidney governs the fine connective tissues; at this time, the fetal meridional networks are complete. One should avoid damp and cold environments and refrain from wearing clothes that have been heated by moxa or fire. Therefore, even in the absence of other symptoms, it is advisable to regulate Qi, harmonize the middle Jiao, and calm the Stomach to prevent difficult labor. Shuntai Yin (Fetus-Soothing Decoction) is appropriate.
Shuntai Yin (Fetus-Soothing Decoction)

Decoct in water and take. Take one dose every eight days.
In the tenth month of pregnancy, the five zang-organs are fully equipped, and the six fu-organs are completely patent. Heaven and Earth Qi are gathered into the Dantian. The joints and the spirit (Shen) are fully prepared, awaiting the time for birth. During this month, the Foot-Taiyin Bladder Meridian nourishes the fetus; acupuncture and moxibustion on this meridian are contraindicated. From the first month until now, only the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian and the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian function, as the Heart acts as the Sovereign Monarch, respected and acting through non-action. Huatai Yin (Fetus-Slipping Decoction) is appropriate.

If there is Qi deficiency, add Renshen (Radix Ginseng, 1 qian). If the fetus is large/heavy, add Zhiqiao (Fructus Aurantii, bran-fried, 1.5 qian). Take one dose every two or three days, stopping only upon delivery.
When a woman’s menstruation does not occur for one month, and the six pulses are peaceful, accompanied by symptoms such as acid regurgitation, aversion to food, slight chills, slight fever, and lethargy, it indicates pregnancy. However, if pathological pulses appear among the six pulses, it is not a normal pregnancy pulse. For those already pregnant who experience nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite, nourishing Blood, calming the fetus, regulating Qi, and strengthening the Spleen are the primary strategies. Zhonghe Tang (Harmonizing Decoction) is appropriate. For young women experiencing their first pregnancy for one month, they may feel shy and refuse to speak about it. If physicians fail to recognize this condition and mistakenly treat it as menstrual obstruction (Zu Jing), it may lead to dizziness, vomiting, nausea, inability to eat, lower back and abdominal pain, floating and tight pulses, especially in cases of weak constitution or pregnancy following illness. Zaotai Jian (Fetus-Covering Decoction) is appropriate.
