Zouma Yagan (Rapidly Progressing Noma of the Gums) is mostly caused by Qi deficiency with external pathogenic invasion, as well as the retention of old food stagnation. Accumulated dampness transforms into heat, and the steaming heat causes teeth to break. It may also result from consuming sweet, sour, salty, or greasy foods; or from residual toxins from sores and rashes failing to dissipate, leading to blackened, necrotic, and rotting teeth. In severe cases, it may ulcerate and penetrate the cheeks, endangering life. Treatment should involve internal administration of the main formula, Lushui Wan (Aloe Pill), and external application of fine powder after rinsing the mouth clean with light salt water.
Main Formula (Lushui Wan / Aloe Pill): Lushui (Aloes), Longdancao (Gentianae Radix), Shijunzi (Quisqualis Fructus, shell removed), Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, stir-fried), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, wine-fried), Wuyi (Meliae Cortex, stir-fried for kernel), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (each 2 qian), Huhuanglian (Picrorhizae Rhizoma) (5 qian). Grind the above into powder, mix with pig bile to form a paste, and make pills the size of millet seeds. Take 60 pills per dose, administered on an empty stomach with rice gruel.
External Application Formula: Jizhounei Huangpi (Inner yellow membrane of chicken gizzard, dried in shade and powdered, 2 qian), Baizhi Powder (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 1 qian), Tongqing (Chalcanthite, 2 fen), Shexiang (Musk, 4 li). Apply to the affected area.
Another Prescription: Jizhoupi (Chicken gizzard lining, burned over a lamp until carbonized but retaining its nature, finely ground), mixed with Huangbai Powder (Phellodendri Cortex), Kufan (Alumen Exsiccatum), and a small amount of Shexiang (Musk). Mix evenly, rinse the mouth with rice wash water, clean the mouth, and apply.
Another Prescription: Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Wu Bei Zi (Galla Chinensis), Kufan (Alumen Exsiccatum) (equal parts). Grind the above into powder, rinse the mouth with rice wash water, clean the mouth, and apply.
Another Prescription: Liang Dou Qiao (Chestnut burr caps) (two pieces), filled with salt, joined together, and roasted thoroughly over charcoal fire. Cool on the ground, grind finely, add a small amount of Shexiang (Musk), rinse the mouth with rice wash water, clean the mouth, and apply.
Children's Zang-Fu organs are delicate and weak. Overconsumption of milk and food damages the Spleen and Stomach, leading to disease. Symptoms such as sallow complexion, emaciation, distended abdomen with visible subcutaneous veins, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and food stagnation are inevitable. The pulse at the Guan position is wiry and rapid. Treatment should focus on tonifying the Spleen and benefiting the Stomach, resolving food stagnation, and transforming accumulation. For the Spleen and Stomach, eliminating stagnation is considered a form of tonification, which is particularly suitable for children to assist digestion and guiding out stagnation.
Main Formula: Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 1 qian), Fuling (Poria, 7 fen), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 6 fen), Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus, 1 qian), Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata, 5 fen), Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, stir-fried and ground, 6 fen). Decoct in water and take orally. Alternatively, grind into powder, mix with honey to make pills the size of a bullet, take one pill per dose, dissolved in rice gruel.
If there is abdominal pain, add Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Sharen (Amomi Fructus), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex). If deficient, add Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma); remove Shanzha, Shenqu, and Maiya; add a small amount of Chenpi. If deficient and cold, add Pao Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum). If diarrhea is severe, add Zhuling (Polyporus), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma); if extreme, add Rouguo (Myristicae Semen, baked in flour). If vomiting, add Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba). If distension, add Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Fupi (Tangerine peel/Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae - *Note: Text says 'Fu Pi', likely referring to specific diuretic herb like Fu Ling skin or similar contextually, but literally Tangerine Peel or potentially 'Da Fu Pi' Areca Peel. Given 'Zhang' (distension), Da Fu Pi is common, but text just says 'Fu Pi'. I will translate literally as Fu Pi*). If there are accumulated masses, add Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma), Pengzhi (Curcumae Radix), Binglang (Arecae Semen). If heat, add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma). If dampness, add Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma).
