The big toe of the foot ulcerates and falls off spontaneously, which is difficult to treat. If the color changes to red-black, it indicates a fatal prognosis, and urgent amputation is advisable. Lesions on other toes are easier to treat. At the initial stage, apply Wanshen Jiedu Dan (Ten-Thousand-Disease Detoxifying Pill) ground thickly with vinegar; if no abscess has formed, garlic moxibustion is suitable, followed by Tuoli Xiaodu San (Supporting Interior and Disinfecting Powder), combined with channel-guiding herbs, or use Baidu San (Defeating Toxin Powder) added with Yinhuajia (Jinyinhua/Golden Flower), Niuxijia (Niuxi/Red Sage Root), Baizhijia (Baizhi/Saposhnikovia Root), Dahuangjia (Dahuang/Rhubarb Root), or Xianfang Huoming Yin (Immortal Life Decoction).
This condition arises from Kidney deficiency allowing Wind-Dampness to contend, causing Qi and Blood stagnation, with toxic pathogens lodged in the skin and interstices, unable to be vented and unblocked, resulting in sores on the feet. If Wind-Toxin does not dissipate and lingers for a long time, with profuse yellow discharge, leading to Qi and Blood depletion and injury, it becomes difficult to treat.
Main Prescription (for Wind-Damp swelling and ulceration): Loulujia (Radix Euphorbiae Humifusae), Wujiajia (Cortex Acanthopanacis), Huaipijia (Cortex Sophorae Flavescentis), Bailianjia (Rhizoma Belamcandae), Gancaojia (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis) (each 7.5 qian), Jilijia (Fructus Tribuli) (2 liang).
Decoct in water and wash the affected area in a windless place.
Application for Foot Sores: Zhanhui (Felt Ash), Hongzao (Chinese Date, burnt to ash), Zhuzhushe (Bamboo Borings), Huangdan (Lead Monoxide), Kufan (Alumen), Shaofen (Kaolin). Mix equal parts of each, grind uniformly, and sprinkle on the lesion.
Ulceration inside the fingernail. Caused by Damp-Heat, or injury from trimming, or wearing narrow shoes. Do not apply cold-natured medicines externally.
Application Formula: Lüfan (Green Vitriol, sealed in an iron vessel over charcoal fire until melted and dried, take the red part and grind, 5 qian), Luhuajia (Aloe), Shexiangjia (Musk).
Grind the above into fine powder and mix uniformly. Prepare a silk bag to hold the medicine, fit it over the finger, tie securely with thread, and apply daily for self-healing.
Swelling and ulceration on all four sides of the toes: Apply 1 qian of alum powder mixed with 3 fen of Incense powder (Ruxiangjia) topically for cure.
Another Formula: Crush fresh Oumujia (Oyster Shell) very finely. Take 2 qian orally, mixed with Indigo flower powder and wine, while continuing topical application to the affected area.
Another Formula: Use Wumeijia (Mume Fruit) or Baimiejia (White Plum), steam the flesh until soft and wrap, or burn to ash and mix for topical application.
Swelling and ulceration of the fingertip with pus formation under the nail: Grind the kernel inside the Wumei pit into powder, mix with rice vinegar to form a paste. Alternatively, wash with a solution of Xiaoshaoshi (Mirabilite), soak the finger in the aforementioned paste, or apply earthworm feces mixed with pork fat.
Carbuncle on the dorsum of the foot belongs to the intersection of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Channel and Foot-Yangming Stomach Channel. It results from Damp-Heat sinking downward due to deficiency. Use Xianfang Huoming Yin (Immortal Life Decoction) added with Mugujia (Papaya Fruit), Rouguijia (Cinnamon Bark), and Niuxijia (Red Sage Root). First apply garlic moxibustion, then support the interior, followed by formulas like Shiquan Dabu Tang (Complete Great Tonifying Decoction). Roast sheep dung on a tile until dry, when smoke ceases, sieve into powder, and mix with sesame oil for topical application. Add Qingfenjia (Calomel) if itching, or a small amount of Shexiangjia (Musk) if painful, and apply. Externally wrap with Shanchaye (Camellia Leaf) or Dongqingye (Ilex Aquifolium Leaf), securing with a silk strip.
