The verse states: In years of Jia and Ji, the first month begins with Bing Yin; in years of Yi and Geng, it starts with Wu Yin; in years of Bing and Xin, it commences from Geng Yin; in years of Ding and Ren, it also flows sequentially from Yin; for years of Wu and Gui, the first month must be sought from Jia Yin.

Another verse states: In years of Jia and Ji, the first month is Jia Yin; in years of Yi and Geng, it is Bing Yin; in years of Bing and Xin, it is Wu Yin; in years of Ding and Ren, it is Geng Zi; in years of Wu and Gui, it is Ren Zi, counting forward without error. For example, in a Wu Zi year, if the first month is Jia Yin, the fifth month is Wu Wu; the calculation for days follows the same principle.

Regarding the First Qi (Chu Zhi Qi), it transitions from the midpoint of the Da Han (Great Cold) solar term in the twelfth month of the previous year into the First Qi of the current year, governing for sixty days plus eighty-seven and a half ke (time units), ending before the Chun Fen (Spring Equinox) by more than sixty days. At this point, the Big Dipper points from Chou Zheng to Mao Zhong, marking the position of Wood and the domain of Wind. When the celestial degrees reach here, wind qi begins to prevail, initiating the commands of Heaven and Earth deities, representing the influence of Heavenly Qi.

In Zi and Wu years, Tai Yang (Cold Water) governs as the guest qi for the First Qi, manifesting as cold, biting frost and snow, and frozen water. During the First Qi, the climate shifts; summer heat departs, cold begins, hibernating insects re-hide, water freezes, frost descends again, winds become fierce, Yang Qi becomes stagnant, people need to dress warmly, joints become stiff and fixed, and lower back pain occurs. As intense heat approaches, sores and ulcers may arise internally and externally.

In Chou and Wei years, Jue Yin (Wind Wood) governs, bringing strong winds that promote growth while reducing hair/fur qi. During the First Qi, Earth Qi shifts, cold recedes, Spring Qi becomes proper, wind arises and nurtures, harmonious Qi spreads, and all things flourish, known as "Shu Qi" (Comfortable Qi). If Wind-Dampness combats, rain returns, and people suffer from blood overflow, tendon stiffness, joint dysfunction, heavy body, and tendon flaccidity.

In Yin and Shen years, Shao Yin (Fire Fire) governs, causing wind-heat injury and epidemic spread. During the First Qi, Earth Qi shifts, wind dominance causes shaking, cold becomes excessively warm, grass and trees bloom early, cold fails to kill, and warm diseases arise. Symptoms include Qi rebellion upwards, hematemesis, red eyes, cough with rebellious Qi, headache, uterine bleeding, hypochondriac pain, and skin sores.

In Mao and You years, Tai Yin (Damp Earth) governs, causing wind and rain to condense with lingering cold. During the First Qi, Earth Qi shifts, Yin begins to congeal, Qi becomes solemn, water freezes, cold rain transforms, leading to internal heat, facial swelling, nasal congestion/epistaxis, yawning, vomiting, yellow-red urine, and severe cases of strangury.

In Chen and Xu years, Shao Yang (Ministerial Fire) governs, bringing warmth and epidemics. During the First Qi, Earth Qi shifts, Fire warms, grass blooms early, people suffer plagues, summer heat acts, causing fever, headache, vomiting, skin sores, and red macules.

In Si and Hai years, Yang Ming (Dry Metal) governs, bringing clear winds, fog, and mist. During the First Qi, Qi begins to kill, cold arrives, people suffer from cold-wind diseases, frequent coughs, and pain in the left and right hypochondrium.

Regarding the Second Qi, it transitions from the midpoint of the Chun Fen (Spring Equinox) solar term into the Second Qi phase, lasting sixty days plus eighty-seven and a half ke, ending before Xiao Man (Grain Buds) by more than sixty days. The Big Dipper points from Mao Zheng to Si Zhong, marking the Second Qi, the position of Sovereign Fire (Jun Huo), called Shao Yin, the domain of Heat. Here, gentle fire prevails; Sovereign Fire governs heat but does not act with scorching heat, reflecting its virtue.

In Zi and Wu years, Jue Yin (Wind Wood) governs below, bringing wind-damp rain and transforming feathered creatures. During the Second Qi, Yang Qi spreads, wind blows, Spring Qi ends, all things flourish, cold wind clears, people are peaceful, suffering from eye dimness and red Qi stagnation above with heat.

In Chou and Wei years, Shao Yin (Sovereign Fire) governs below, bringing natural flourishing due to proper positioning and command execution. During the Second Qi, Fire is proper, things flourish, Water transforms into Qi harmoniously, leading to warm epidemics spreading everywhere, damp steaming combats, timely rain falls, following Heaven's norm, called "Shi Yu" (Timely Rain).

In Yin and Shen years, Tai Yin (Damp Earth) governs below, bringing seasonal rain. During the Second Qi, Dampness enters Yin. White dust rises, clouds gather at the rain source, wind cannot overcome dampness, rain falls, people are healthy, but may suffer from heat stagnation above, cough/vomiting, mid-body sores, chest/throat obstruction, headache, fever, dizziness, and suppurative sores.

In Mao and You years, Shao Yang (Ministerial Fire) governs below, causing latent rebellion, intermittent hot fire, and epidemic generation. During the Second Qi, Yang spreads, people feel comfortable, wood flourishes, but plagues strike heavily, causing sudden death, because Sovereign occupies Minister's position and Minister occupies Sovereign's position (e.g., Ren Wu year: Sovereign in Minister's place; Jia Zi year: Minister in Sovereign's place).

In Chen and Xu years, Yang Ming (Dry Metal) governs below, causing irregular warmth and coolness. During the Second Qi, great coolness arrives, people feel miserable, grass meets cold, Fire Qi is broken, people suffer depression, abdominal fullness, cold begins, transitioning from cool to cold, so cold Qi attacks humans.

In Si and Hai years, Tai Yang (Cold Water) governs below, bringing cold rain with intermittent heat. During the Second Qi, cold does not depart, flowers/frost/snow appear, water freezes, killing Qi acts, frost descends, grass scorches, cold rain comes frequently, Yang hides again, people suffer internal heat.

Regarding the Third Qi, it transitions from the midpoint of the Xiao Man (Grain Buds) solar term into the Third Qi phase, lasting sixty days plus eighty-seven and a half ke, ending before Da Shu (Great Heat) by more than sixty days. The Big Dipper points from Si Zheng to Wei Zhong, marking the Third Qi, the position of Ministerial Fire (Xiang Huo), thirty days before and after Summer Solstice, the domain of Shao Yang. Here, intense heat prevails greatly.

In Zi and Wu years, Shao Yin (Sovereign Fire) governs below, bringing great heat and hyperactivity, causing heat diseases. During the Third Qi, Heavenly Policy spreads, Fire acts largely, things flourish, cold occasionally arrives, causing Qi reversal, heart pain, alternating cold/heat, cough/wheezing, and red eyes.

In Chou and Wei years, Tai Yin (Damp Earth) governs below, bringing clouds, rain, and hail. During the Third Qi, Heavenly Policy spreads, Dampness descends, Earth Qi wins, rain falls timely, cold follows, contracting cold-damp leads to heavy body, edema, and chest fullness.

In Yin and Shen years, Shao Yang (Ministerial Fire) governs below, bringing violent heat, withering grass, and delayed damp transformation. During the Third Qi, Heavenly Policy spreads, summer heat arrives, Shao Yang oversees above, rain stops, people suffer internal heat, deafness, blindness, blood overflow, suppurative sores, cough, vomiting, nasal issues, sneezing, red eyes, and sudden death.

In Mao and You years, Yang Ming (Dry Metal) governs below, bringing emerging cool air. During the Third Qi, Heavenly Policy spreads, Dryness acts, heat combines, dryness extremes bring moisture, people suffer alternating cold/heat like malaria.

In Chen and Xu years, Tai Yang (Cold Water) governs below, bringing intermittent cold and heat-clashing hail. During the Third Qi, Heavenly Policy spreads, Cold acts, rain falls, people suffer cold, but reverse to internal heat, carbuncles, diarrhea, heart heat/dizziness. Untreated, death ensues; this is when cold reverses to heat. Violating Heaven's norm, heat originates in the Heart, endangering Spirit; urgent rescue is needed, or Spirit perishes. Treatment brings life; neglect brings death.

In Si and Hai years, Jue Yin (Wind Wood) governs below, bringing rampant wind-heat and feathered creatures via rain. During the Third Qi, Heavenly Policy spreads, wind rises timely, people suffer tearing, tinnitus, tremors, and vertigo.

Regarding the Fourth Qi, it transitions from the midpoint of the Da Shu (Great Heat) solar term into the Fourth Qi phase, lasting sixty days plus eighty-seven and a half ke, ending before Qiu Fen (Autumn Equinox) by more than sixty days. The Big Dipper points from Wei Zheng to You Zhong, marking Earth Qi governance and the domain of Rain. Here, clouds and rain prevail, damp-heat steams.

In Zi and Wu years, Tai Yin (Damp Earth) governs below, bringing continuous heavy rain. During the Fourth Qi, muggy heat arrives, Fire acts, cold/heat arrive, people suffer chills/fever, dry throat, jaundice, nasal issues, fluid retention, and abdominal fullness.

In Chou and Wei years, Shao Yang (Ministerial Fire) governs below, bringing oppressive heat, clouds, rain, and hail. During the Fourth Qi, Fear of Fire descends, muggy heat steams, Earth Qi rises, Heaven Qi blocks, cold wind comes late, steaming heat combats, grass smokes, dampness stagnates, white dew spreads with Autumn command, things mature, people suffer pore heat, interstitial blood overflow, malaria, heart/abdominal fullness, bladder distension, and severe edema.

In Yin and Shen years, Yang Ming (Dry Metal) governs below, bringing clear rain, fog, and dew. During the Fourth Qi, coolness arrives, summer heat intermittently transforms, white dew descends, people are peaceful, but suddenly suffer abdominal fullness and edema.

In Mao and You years, Tai Yang (Cold Water) governs below, bringing cold rain harming things. During the Fourth Qi, rain falls, people suffer sudden onset, trembling, delirium, shortness of breath, dry throat craving drink, reversed heart pain, carbuncles, sudden cold disease, bone flaccidity, and bloody stool.

In Chen and Xu years, Jue Yin (Wind Wood) governs below, bringing violent storms and naked creatures. During the Fourth Qi, Wind-Damp combats, wind transforms to rain, things grow/mature, people suffer great heat, shortness of breath, muscle flaccidity, and dysentery with red/white discharge.

In Si and Hai years, Shao Yin (Sovereign Fire) governs below, bringing reversed cold/heat, floating clouds over mountains/swamps, and sudden muggy steam. During the Fourth Qi, muggy damp-thin competes on the upper left, people suffer jaundice and edema.

Regarding the Fifth Qi, it transitions from the midpoint of the Qiu Fen (Autumn Equinox) solar term into the Fifth Qi phase, lasting sixty days plus eighty-seven and a half ke, ending before Xiao Xue (Minor Snow) by more than sixty days. The Big Dipper points from You Zheng to Hai Zhong, marking the Fifth Qi, Metal Qi governance, and the domain of Dryness. Here, all things face extreme dryness.

In Zi and Wu years, Shao Yang (Ministerial Fire) governs below, bringing dampness as a clear minister, things flourish. During the Fifth Qi, Fear of Fire descends, heat arrives, Yang transforms, things grow/flourish, people are healthy, but may suffer warm diseases.

In Chou and Wei years, Yang Ming (Dry Metal) governs below, bringing great cool and dry disease. During the Fifth Qi, harsh command acts, cold dew falls, frost descends early, grass turns yellow/falls, cold hits the body, gentlemen dress warmly, people suffer skin/pore issues.

In Yin and Shen years, Tai Yang (Cold Water) governs below, bringing early cold. During the Fifth Qi, Yang departs, cold invades, pores close, rigid wood withers, people avoid evil Qi, gentlemen dress warmly.

In Mao and You years, Jue Yin (Wind Wood) governs below, bringing widespread cool wind and shellfish via rain. During the Fifth Qi, Spring command acts, grass grows/flourishes, people are harmonious.

In Chen and Xu years, Shao Yin (Sovereign Fire) governs below, bringing Autumn and seasonal damp disease. During the Fifth Qi, Yang transforms again, grass grows/matures, comfort reigns, Great Fire oversees, so all things flourish comfortably.

In Si and Hai years, Tai Yin (Damp Earth) governs below, bringing seasonal rain and deep Yin. During the Fifth Qi, Dry/Damp alternate in dominance, deep Yin spreads, cold hits the body, wind/rain act timely.

Regarding the Sixth Qi (Final Qi), it transitions from the midpoint of the Xiao Xue (Minor Snow) solar term into the Final Qi phase, lasting sixty days plus eighty-seven and a half ke, ending before Da Han (Great Cold) by more than sixty days. The Big Dipper points from Hai Zheng to Chou Zhong, concluding Heavenly Qi, Water Qi governance, and the domain of Cold. Here, cold Qi prevails greatly.

In Zi and Wu years, Yang Ming (Dry Metal) governs below, bringing dry-cold action. During the Final Qi, Dry command acts, residual Fire is blocked internally, swelling above, cough/wheezing, severe blood overflow. Frequent cold raises fog/dew/rain, dizziness/blindness, disease arises in pores, settles in hypochondrium connecting to lower abdomen, causing internal cold. Earth is broad/easy, Qi victory allows growth.

In Chou and Wei years, Tai Yang (Cold Water) governs below, bringing great freezing. During the Final Qi, Great Cold rises, Damp transforms greatly, frost accumulates, Yin congeals, ice hardens, Sunlight fails, contracting cold causes joint stiffness, lower back pain, cold-damp holding at Qi intersection causing disease.

In Yin and Shen years, Jue Yin (Wind Wood) governs below, bringing blowing cold wind and scale-fish. During the Final Qi, Earth Qi is proper, wind arrives, things reverse birth, mist/fog, disease involves closed gates failing to store and cough/rebellious Qi.

In Mao and You years, Shao Yin (Sovereign Fire) governs below, hibernating insects appear, flowing water does not freeze. During the Final Qi, Yang Qi spreads, climate reverses to warm, insects appear, water doesn't freeze, people are healthy/peaceful, suffering warm diseases, due to Sovereign Fire transformation.

In Chen and Xu years, Tai Yin (Damp Earth) governs below, bringing frozen cold lodging in Earth, Dampness. During the Final Qi, Damp command acts, Yin congeals in Great Void, dust obscures vision, wilderness dark, people feel miserable, cold wind arrives, reversal causes pregnancy death.

In Si and Hai years, Shao Yang (Ministerial Fire) governs below, bringing cold-warmth, hibernating insects do not hide, water doesn't freeze. During the Final Qi, Fear of Fire governs policy, Yang transforms greatly, insects appear, water doesn't freeze, Earth Qi erupts, grass grows, people feel comfortable, suffering damp febrile diseases.

In the above text, within each Principal Position, there are Principal and Guest Qi. Thus, this is the method, starting from Zi year, ending at Hai year. Each year has six positions. Qi is below; Earth corresponds to Yin, still, position fixed and unchanging, year after year. Heaven's Qi moves and does not stop, occupying no fixed position, shifting with yearly Qi exchange. Si Tian (Heavenly Ruler) is the Third Qi, Di (Earth/Ruler Below) is the Final Qi. Left/Right Intermittent Qi: Earth's Left Intermittent is First Qi, Right is Fifth Qi; Heaven's Left Intermittent is Final Qi, Right is Second Qi. This is Guest Qi.

Guest moves above Principal; Principal is below Guest. Up/down summon each other, cold/heat approach, Yin/Yang cross, and changes arise.

These words regarding humans imply violating Heavenly Net, slightly differing. Establish Heaven/Earth fullness/emptiness first to clarify Su Yun (Yearly Movement) Tai/Shao (Greater/Lesser), distinguish prosperity/decline, deduce Six Steps' supervision, match regions, deduce encounters, and apply usage.

(New Addition) Heaven's Six Qi Yin/Yang move ceaselessly, cycling through six steps. Above Principal Positions, usually the year's Qi becomes Si Tian, becoming the Guest Qi of the Third Qi Ministerial Fire. The latter three Qi become the Guest Qi of the Zai Quan (In泉/Underground) Qi. Si Tian Qi has Southern and Northern Policies. Jia/Ji Earth Movement is Southern Policy Si Tian, Earth alone is honored; remaining Metal/Water/Fire/Wood are Northern Policy. Southern Policy turns with Heaven, determining Left/Right Intermittent Qi. For example, in Jia Zi year, Southern Policy Si Tian, Zi/Wu is Shao Yin, Sovereign Fire above, as Si Tian. Middle Tai Gong, Earth Movement. Advance three positions down to Mao, Jia combines with Ji, thus Ji Mao governs Earth. Adjacent Qi to Si Tian are Intermittent Qi. Zi is Si Tian, Shao Yin Sovereign Fire; Hai is Jue Yin Wind Wood, Right Intermittent; Chou is Tai Yin Damp Earth, Left Intermittent. Mao is Yang Ming Dry Metal, governs Earth; Yin is Shao Yang Ministerial Fire, Left Intermittent; Chen is Tai Yang Cold Water, Right Intermittent.

One year shifts one position, until six reside and return. Up/down approach, Yin/Yang cross, changes arise. Qi compatible is harmonious; incompatible causes disease. Principal defeating Guest makes Guest sick (Reversal); Guest defeating Principal makes Principal sick (Smooth). Principal/Guest victory has no repetition; Three Yin/Three Yang have their own prosperity/decline logic. Yin/Shen/Si/Hai are One Yin/One Yang; Zi/Wu/Mao/You are Two Yin/Two Yang; Chen/Xu/Chou/Wei are Three Yin/Three Yang. Deduce by meaning to know prosperity/decline variations.

Verse: Yearly Branch Qi is Si Tian (Year means year, Branch means branch, thus knowing Zi/Wu year Shao Yin Sovereign Fire is Si Tian, moving left one branch to Chou year, annually arriving becomes Si Tian Qi). Move left three branches to Zai Quan (Advance three branches to Mao/You, Yang Ming Zai Quan etc.). Heaven faces South speaking Left/Right (Si Tian position is South, facing North speaking its Left/Right Intermittent Qi). North Earth Left/Right faces South (Si Di position is North, facing South speaking its Left/Right Intermittent Qi). Si Tian becomes Third Qi Guest (Si Tian is Upper, both Southern/Northern policies have Si Tian, its Qi is Third Qi Guest). Earth is Final Qi necessarily (Si Di, also called Zai Quan, is Lower, thus Final Qi Guest). Earth Left Intermittent resides in Final Qi (Si Di Left Intermittent is Final Qi Guest, Si Di Right Intermittent is Fourth Qi Guest, Si Tian resides in Third Qi Guest). To know Earth Qi self-arrangement (Fourth Qi Si Tian, Right Intermittent resides in Second Qi, Si Di Final Qi same, deduce separately).

Si Tian Six Yuan True Qi: Each year, first three Qi are in Heaven, latter three in Earth. Of these six Qi, two are between Heaven/Earth, remaining four are Intermittent Qi. Si Tian Qi governs first half of year, three Qi; Zai Quan governs second half, three Qi. Si Tian properly governs Third Qi phase, ending after 30 days plus 43.75 ke. Remaining four Intermittent Qi are paths of Heaven/Earth Yin/Yang, each governing 60 days plus 87.5 ke. Total six steps equal 365.15 ke, forming one year.

Five Movements (Wu Yun): Each year generally governs one period, five form one cycle. Following one movement governs one year, Tai/Shao alternate. However, within one year, there are also Five Movements combining to govern one year. These Five Movements originate from the Principal, governed by Wood/Fire/Earth/Metal/Water successively. Usually Wood is First Movement, aligning with the day/time of transitioning to First Qi of the previous year. Next, Wood generates Fire as Second Movement, transitioning 13 days after Chun Fen. Next, Fire generates Earth as Third Movement, transitioning 25 days after Xiao Man. Next, Earth generates Metal as Fourth Movement, transitioning 37 days after Da Shu. Next, Metal generates Water as Fifth Movement, transitioning 49 days after Qiu Fen. Ending and restarting. Each movement is 73.5 ke, totaling one period. (This concerns Principal/Guest of Five Movements. Previous sections detail movement strategies adding up, easy to see.) Some say Five Movements in the year each have Principal/Guest, should use Principal/Guest. Use the two stems preceding the year stem as First Movement Guest, and add/subtract Five Movements up/down (The two stems preceding the year stem as Guest Movement are detailed in *Yu Ce*. Note: *Liu Yuan Zheng Ji Da Lun* says Heavenly Movement is First Movement). Calling it Dry is erroneous. However, Si Tian is above, Si Di is below, Su Yun is in the middle. Usually transporting Heaven/Earth Qi, rising/falling. Also, Six Steps Principal/Guest Qi: Guest Qi is above, Principal Qi is below, Yearly Heavenly Movement is in the middle, transporting up/down Principal/Guest Qi, rising/falling. All these are the Way of Three Powers, natural principle, origin of creation. One generates Two, Two generates Three, Three generates Ten Thousand Things. How can there be Principal/Guest Qi without something to transport them? It is likely erroneous. Movements have Tai/Shao, only identical to Yearly Movement Tai/Shao, up/down Tai/Shao follow. Erroneously starting Greater Jue in Yang years and Lesser Jue in Yin years is incorrect. (Previous Tai/Shao Jue diagram details methods, consistent with Canon.)
