(The area located near the nose at the inner canthus, also known as "Chi Rou" [red flesh], is the distribution of Jingming [BL1].) It belongs to the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian (The *Ling Shu* states: The regular qi of the Hand-Shaoyin emerges from the face and converges at the inner canthus. It also states: The essence of blood gathers into the network vessels' nests, and the Heart governs the blood vessels.) It concurrently belongs to the convergence of the Foot-Taiyang and Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridians, Bladder Meridian, and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. (The *Ling Shu* states: When the sinews of the Foot-Yangming and Hand-Taiyang are tense, it causes deviation of the mouth and eye, and due to tension, one cannot see suddenly. The *Su Wen* states: Wind pathogen and Yangming qi enter the stomach, follow the meridians upward to the inner canthus. If a person is obese, wind qi cannot be excreted outward, leading to Heat-Zhong syndrome with yellow eyes; if a person is thin, wind qi excretes outward causing cold, leading to Cold-Zhong syndrome with tearing. Wang Qixuan said: The Taiyang meridian originates at the inner canthus; if Taiyang qi perishes, the inner canthus collapses, resulting in death. Shen Chengzhi said: Directly above the inner canthus belongs to the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian; directly below the inner canthus is the convergence of the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian and Jueyin Liver Meridian.) It also belongs to the combined pulse of Yin and Yang Qiao Mai (The *Ling Shu* states: The Yin Qiao meridian emerges before Renying [ST7], enters the inner canthus, belongs to the inner canthus, and combines with Taiyang and Yang Qiao to ascend. When their qi moves together and returns, it moistens the eyes; if qi does not nourish, the eyes cannot close. It also states: Redness and pain in the eyes start from the inner canthus; treatment should target Yin Qiao. The *Su Wen* states: Pathogens invading the Foot-Yang Qiao meridian cause eye pain starting from the outer canthus. Zhao Yi-de said: Disease of Yin Qiao presents with slackness on the outside and tension on the inside; disease of Yang Qiao presents with slackness on the inside and tension on the outside. Both meridians intersect at the inner canthus. Yang meridians intersecting with Yin result in eye closure; Yin meridians intersecting with Yang result in eye opening).
(The area extending outward from the outer canthus towards the face) is the convergence of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian, Gallbladder Meridian, and Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian (The *Ling Shu* states: Diseases generated by the Hand-Shaoyang include pain at the outer canthus. It also states: The sinews of the Foot-Shaoyang have branches that knot at the outer canthus, serving as the external support. If these supporting sinews are tense, affecting left to right, the right eye cannot open; ascending past the right corner, neither side opens, named "Wei Jin Xiang Jiao" [Cross-intersection of Supporting Sinews]. It also states: The sinews of the Hand-Taiyang, straight branches, emerge behind the ear, descend to knot at the mandible, and ascend to belong to the outer canthus. Shen Chengzhi said: Directly above the outer canthus belongs to the convergence of Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao and Gallbladder Meridians; directly below the outer canthus concurrently belongs to the convergence of Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian.) It concurrently belongs to the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian and Yin/Yang Qiao Mai (The *Ling Shu* states: The Foot-Taiyang has a pathway through the neck entering the brain, directly connecting to the root of the eye, named Yan Xi [Eye System]. For severe headache and eye pain, take this point between the two sinuses in the neck, where it enters the brain and diverges. Yin Qiao and Yang Qiao intersect, Yang enters Yin, Yin exits Yang, converging at the outer canthus. When Yang qi is abundant, the eyes open; when Yin qi is abundant, the eyes close).
