The *Classic* states: The general principle is to intercept wind and fire pathogens while simultaneously treating the eyes; without using Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) to lift and vent, the condition will not resolve. The corresponding formula verse is as follows:
Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Longdancao (Gentianae Radix), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), and Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma); Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), and Tiaoping (Scutellariae Radix); Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Chanyi (Bombyx Batryticatus), and Chuanbai (Phellodendri Cortex) are taken; adding Jiangsheng (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and Jingjie can remove eye nebulae.
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Tiaoping (Scutellariae Radix), and Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium); Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis), Chanyi (Bombyx Batryticatus), and Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix); with Zhuru (Bambusae Caulis in Taenia) and Maogen (Imperatae Rhizoma) added as guiding herbs, this clears Lung heat, descends fire, and treats hiccups.
This is a primary disease of the Spleen, primarily treated with Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) and Tiaoping (Scutellariae Radix). If the upper and lower gums are foul and ulcerated, and the tongue coating is thick and white, Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) should be the principal herb. The corresponding formula verse is as follows:
Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) and Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) together with Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma); Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Huafen (Trichosanthis Radix), and Chuanbai (Phellodendri Cortex) added; Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Danzhuye (Phyllostachidis Folium), and Tiaoping (Scutellariae Radix) used together; heavy use of Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) resolves Stomach fire.
Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix), and Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix); Digupi (Lycii Cortex), Sangbaipi (Mori Cortex), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Lianhua (Coptidis Rhizoma), and Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix).
Chanyi (Bombyx Batryticatus), Dalizi (Arctii Fructus), Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Yinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Baibu (Stemonae Radix), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), combined with Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix),
(If there is bad breath accompanied by asthma, add Tinglizi (Descurainiae Semen seu Lepidii Semen), and do not retain heavy doses of Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix).)
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), and Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum); Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix) combined with Huafen (Trichosanthis Radix) is effective; Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), and Gualouren (Trichosanthis Semen); additionally, Zhike (Aurantii Fructus) and fried Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma).
The *Classic* states: This syndrome involves heat toxins steaming internally from the Heart and Stomach meridians. Quack physicians often mistake it for severe exanthems, but incorrect medication causes the fire to blaze more fiercely, resulting in macules. One must use Dianhua (Indigo Naturalis), processed by water flotation, mixed with Duan Shi (Calcined Alumen), washed clean, dried, and ground into powder; applied with human milk, the macules will disappear. It is also said: One should purge Liver fire so that stagnant fire dissipates; heat toxins injuring blood lead to interior excess. Deficiency leads to macules; mild cases resemble rashes, severe cases show brocade-like patterns, and purple-black indicates extreme heat and gastric rot, which is often fatal. Heavy use of Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Da Qingcao (Isatidis Folium), and Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu) is indispensable; these three are essential for purging Heart and Stomach heat toxins. The poem summarizes:
Toxic fire flows into the Spleen organ, causing eye nebulae and obstruction;
Shangxing (Excess swelling at the Shangxing acupoint) swells on both lips, with pus and blood dripping, and abundant ocular discharge.
Boyun San (Cloud-Piercing Powder) modified:
Boyun San contains Longdancao (Gentianae Radix), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu); Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Muzei (Equiseti Herba), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Lianhua (Coptidis Rhizoma), Muzei (Equiseti Herba), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix); Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Pengsha (Borisoviae Borax), Tiaoping (Scutellariae Radix), Shijueming (Argonautae Oolitheca), Yinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), and Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos) are beneficial.
When toxic flow affects the Spleen in the upper part, lips crack and swell, accumulating like coal; movement causes bleeding, which then dries and binds. In the lower part, toxin injects into the Large Intestine, discharging filth like glue or lacquer, or bright red blood with unbearable pain; this is treated with Dichu Jiuku Tang (Eliminating and Saving from Misery Decoction).
Dichu Jiuku Tang (Eliminating and Saving from Misery Decoction):
Dichu Jiuku Tang uses Shengjun (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma fresh); Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Lianhua (Coptidis Rhizoma), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis); Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Liziren (Arctii Fructus), Honghua (Carthami Flos), Huashi (Talcum), Chanyi (Bombyx Batryticatus), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), and Badouxing (Semini Crotonis).
