Crotonis Fructus Preparatus (Badou Shuang, Croton Seed Frost) [prepared by removing skin, heart, and membrane, grinding into paste, expressing oil] 1 liang; Rheae Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) 1 liang; Zingiberis Rhizoma (Sheng Ganjiang, Dried Ginger) 2 liang.
All ingredients must be fine and fresh. First, pound the Rhubarb Root and Dried Ginger into powder. Then, grind the Croton Seed Frost in a mortar with the powder, pounding one thousand times, to prepare as a powder. It is also good to mix with honey to form pills.
"Bei" means to prepare in advance, keeping it ready for use; "Ji" means timely, referring to the urgency of the situation. The *Jin Gui Yao Lue* records using Bei Ji Wan to rescue patients suffering from sudden evil invasion or external pathogenic factors causing coma and lockjaw, aiming to rapidly purge the pathogenic factors.
