Chuan Lianlian (Coptidis Rhizoma, stir-fried with ginger juice) 1.5 qian, Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum, processed) 1.5 qian, Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, steamed with human milk) 1.5 qian, Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) 1.5 qian.
Advancing method: Use three unprocessed ingredients of this formula (referring to Huanglian, Ganjiang, Renshen), add three tea cups of water, decoct until the volume is halved, and take warm. Retreating method: Do not use Guizhi, reduce the dosage of Huanglian by half, or add Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), which constitutes Huanglian Tang. Zhang Zhongjing treated conditions where there was pathogenic factor in the stomach, heat in the chest, and cold in the abdomen. Yu Jiayan elucidated its profound meaning, adding methods of advancement and retreat to treat Guan Ge disease (a severe condition characterized by urinary retention and vomiting), showing unique and superior insight.
Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) 5 qian, Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) 3 qian, Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) 1.5 qian, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 1 qian.
The above herbs are finely chopped and mixed evenly, taken as one dose. Add two lamps of water, decoct to one lamp, and take warm.
Cangzhu Shigao Tang is a descending agent for the Taiyin and Yangming meridians, used to treat excessive dampness. The Classic states: "When dampness is severe in the upper part, it leads to heat." Zhang Zhongjing said: Dampness causes chills... [Text fragment]. Zhimu assists Shigao; their combination of rigidity and flexibility does not damage the healthy qi of the zang-fu organs, which can be described as detailed, prudent, and precise. Although similar to Baihu Tang, the principles within each have subtle differences.
Shufuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix, upper ingredient), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, middle ingredient), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, lower ingredient), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, middle ingredient), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, middle ingredient), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus, lower ingredient), Lathe (Tea leaves, middle ingredient), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium).
Use one cup of clarified soil-water to decoct until six parts remain. Before taking, add five spoons of white honey, cool quickly in cold water, and take. The goal is to induce sweating.
Jie'an modified Zhang Zhongjing's Baitong Tang into a formula for restoring yang and tonifying deficiency. Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus), Ganjiang, and Fuzi are used to unblock yang and warm the meridians; Renshen and Maimendong... [Text fragment] heart transformation... large...
Zuo Muli (Concha Ostreae, left oyster shell) 3 qian, Longgu (Os Draconis) 2 qian, Chuan Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) 1 qian, Da Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) 1.5 qian, Shufuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix) 1 qian, Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) 1.5 qian, Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens).
Take as one dose. Add two lamps of water, decoct to eight parts, and take warm at any time.
Yangrou Tang is a compound formula based on Jiuni Tang. Han He said: If Jiuni Tang is ineffective, one should revert to using mutton soup, which yields very rapid results. This is because yang qi is abundant in the upper part but deficient... [Text fragment] upper loss...
