Ge Hong's Formula: Treatment for Bee Stings from Green Bees in Bamboo.
Realgar (Xionghuang), Musk (Shexiang), and Dried Ginger (Ganjiang) are used in equal parts. They are pounded, sifted, and mixed with Musk. The mixture is placed in a small bamboo tube to be carried along. In an emergency, apply it immediately to the wound. It is also effective for various snake and viper bites, proving miraculous.
Another formula: Split open a black-bone chicken and apply it hot to the wound.
Snakes are green and prefer trees and bamboo. Large ones do not exceed four or five chi in length and are all called Qingtiao snakes (Green-striped snakes). If bitten by them, death occurs instantly.
Ge Hong's Formula: Treatment for Venomous Snake Bites.
Hurry to dig a pit and bury the bitten part in it. Compact the soil above firmly; the venom will enter the earth. After a moment, the pain will ease, then remove the limb.
Xu Yu's Formula: Treatment for Snake Poison.
Pound the root of Sanguisorba officinalis (Diyu), squeeze out the juice, and drink it. Also use the juice to soak the wound.
Another formula: Pound Allium macrostemon (Xiaosuan), drink the juice. Apply the dregs to the wound.
Another formula: Place earwax from a pig into the wound. Earwax from a cow can also be used; it is effective.
Another formula: Chew salt, spit onto the wound, and moxibustion is applied for three moxa cones (Zhuang). Then chew more salt and spit onto the wound again.
Another formula: Pound Scallion bulb (Xie), and apply it to the wound.
Another formula: Burn centipede (Wugong) to powder and apply it to the wound.
Another formula: First, place a jointless bamboo tube over the wound. Melt beeswax (La) and honey (Mi) in equal parts, and pour them into the tube. If honey is unavailable, pure wax alone is also acceptable.
Another formula: In an emergency, urinate into the wound first. Then, face the sun, hold your breath, and walk three steps. Dig a small pit in the ground with a knife. Pour hot water into the mud in the pit to form pills the size of a Chinese quince seed (Wuzi), and take them orally. Apply a small amount of the mud to the outside of the wound as well; this is excellent.
Another formula: Cinnamon twig heart (Guixin) and Trichosanthes fruit (Gualou) are ground into powder in equal parts. Seal tightly in a small bamboo tube to carry along. If suddenly bitten by a pit viper (Fushe), apply the powder. This medicine treats various snake venoms; if not sealed tightly, the qi (potency) will dissipate and it will be ineffective.
For all snake venoms.
Immediately apply moxibustion for three to five cones at the wound site, so that the various poisons cannot spread.
Snake poison.
Pound Bidens pilosa (Guizhencao) and apply it to the wound; the pain will stop immediately.
Another formula: Store leaves of Vitex negundo (Jingye) in a bag and apply to the swollen wound.
Another formula: Apply Musk (Shexiang) to the swelling. Once blood flows, the condition will heal.
Another formula: Pound Zanthoxylum bungeanum (Hekoujiao) including its leaves and apply to the wound; there is no case where it fails to stop the pain.
Another formula: Cut a leaf with a knife, heat the knife until red-hot, and cauterize the wound.

Lightly tap a chicken egg to make a small hole, cover the bite site with it, and healing occurs immediately.
Liu Yuxi's "Chuan Xin Fang," treating snake bites and scorpion stings.
Heat the head of a knife until red-hot. Place alum (Baifan) on the knife head until it melts into liquid. While hot, drip the liquid onto the bite site; healing occurs immediately. This is extremely effective, having saved dozens of people. In the 32nd year of Zhenyuan era (Note: Historical correction needed, Zhenyuan era lasted 21 years), two monks exiled south to Dengzhou were both bitten by snakes. Using this method to save them, after applying the medicine they departed without further suffering.
