Take 4 fen of soot from the bottom of a cauldron (Fu Xia Mo), 3 fen of prepared Aconite Root (Fuzi), and 1 fen of Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi). Pound into powder, sieve, and administer with cold water in a dose of one cubic inch spoon (Fang Cun Bi). Vomiting is expected after administration. In another version, Cinnamon Twig is omitted.
Another prescription: Equal parts of Sophora Root (Kushen), Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi), and Pinellia Tuber (Banxia) are pounded and sieved. Mix with vinegar and apply to the painful area; the condition will heal.
Another prescription: Take 30 dried plums (Wumei), a pinch of salt (three fingers' width), and 3 sheng of wine. Boil until 1 sheng remains, strain, and take in one dose. Vomiting is expected, and the patient will recover.
This method originally appeared in the miscellaneous treatments section. The disease is caused by phlegm-jue qi rushing upward from the upper chest and diaphragm, named Jue Headache. Inducing vomiting leads to recovery.
Simply boil rice alone to make a thick rice gruel of about 2-3 sheng. Drink it at a comfortable temperature until finished. Soon, the urge to vomit will arise. After vomiting ceases, drink again. Repeat this several times. For severe cases, vomiting continues until bile is expelled. This method does not harm the body and brings immediate relief.
For treating excessive phlegm in the chest causing headache, loss of appetite, and phlegm obstruction after drinking alcohol.
Take 2 liang of Daphne Genkwa Flower (Changshan), 1 liang of Licorice Root (Gancao), 1 liang of Usnea (Songluo), and 37-70 Gourd Trichosanthes Fruit (Gua Di). Add 1.5 sheng each of wine and water. Boil until 0.5 sheng remains. Administer 0.7 he initially. If vomiting is incomplete, divide the remainder into two doses. Afterwards, Banxia Decoction can be taken.
Hu Qian named this formula Fen Ge Tang: Take 1 liang of Alum (Fanshi) and 2 sheng of water. Boil until 1 sheng remains. Add 0.5 he of honey and take in one dose. If vomiting does not occur shortly after, drink some hot soup to induce it.
Another prescription: Take 3 liang of Asarum (Duheng), 3 liang of Usnea (Songluo), and 30 Gourd Trichosanthes Fruit (Gua Di). Soak in 1.2 sheng of wine overnight. Strain. Warm and take 0.5 he. If one dose does not induce vomiting, take another dose in the evening.

Another prescription: First prepare 1 sheng of soup, add 1 sheng of water, called Shengshu Tang (Raw-Cooked Soup). Consume with 0.3 he of salt. Send down with this soup. Soon, the urge to vomit will arise; induce vomiting by stimulating the throat. If not fully expelled, take another 0.2 he. After drinking 2 sheng of soup, it can be taken again, but the soup should not be reused.
Another prescription: Take 4 liang of Daphne Genkwa Flower (Changshan) and 0.5 liang of Licorice Root (Gancao). Add 7 sheng of water. Boil until 2 sheng remains. Add 0.5 sheng of honey. Take 1 sheng. If no vomiting occurs, take more. Honey is optional.

Diseases of the diaphragm are named Gaohuang. Decoctions and pills cannot reach them, and acupuncture is ineffective. Therefore, pills are made to be held in the mouth, allowing the medicinal qi to permeate. There are Five Diaphragm Pills.
Ophiopogon Tuber (Mendong) 10 fen, dehearted. Licorice Root (Gancao) 10 fen, roasted. Zanthoxylum Pericarpium (Jiao), Polygala Root (Yuanzhi), Prepared Aconite Root (Pao Fuzi), Dried Ginger (Ganjiang), Ginseng Root (Renshen), Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi), and Asarum (Xixin) each 6 fen. There are about ten prescriptions for this disease, mostly similar. This pill is the most effective. Although it uses many herbs, it does not fit the name of the Five Diaphragms, namely You Ge (Worry Diaphragm), Qi Ge (Qi Diaphragm), Hui Ge (Anger Diaphragm), and Han Ge (Cold Diaphragm). These diseases have distinct diagnostic features. In major prescriptions, there is also the Seven Qi Formula, which is largely similar with minor differences.
