[Chenshe Wan (Musk and Dragon's Blood Pill)] Treats all types of unbearable Qi pain (to be prepared at noon on the Dragon Boat Festival). Ingredients: Myrrha (Moyao), Cinnabar (Chensha), Dragon's Blood (Xuejie) (each 1 liang), Aucklandia Root (Muxiang) (0.5 liang), Musk (Shexiang) (1 qian), Agarwood (Chenxiang) (1 liang). All ingredients are used raw, placed in silver or porcelain vessels, and boiled with raw Licorice Paste (Sheng Gancao Gao) as a binder to form pills, sized like Sophora seeds. For Qi pain, take with Ginger-Salt Decoction; for Blood Qi pain, chew with Vinegar Decoction. Wan Jun, the Magistrate of Songzi, highly valued this medicine. For women suffering from unbearable Blood pain, only one pill is needed; Wan Jun regarded it as a secret prescription. Whenever someone fell ill, he would only give half a pill, which often resulted in recovery.
[Nanshi Wan (Lapis Lazuli Pill) / Xiaoji Formula] Nao Sha (1 liang, dissolved in 3 sheng of rice vinegar), Croton Seed Frost (Badou Shuang) (2.5 liang, boiled first above), Qing Mengshi (Blue Lapis Lazuli) (0.5 liang, ground), Burret Flower Rhizome (Sanleng) (soaked in vinegar overnight, roasted, 1 liang, boiled next above), Rhubarb (Dahuang) (1.5 liang, divided into three parts for roasting/stir-frying, then decocted next), Aucklandia Root (Muxiang), Areca Nut (Binglang), Nutmeg (Roudoukou), Soap Pod (Zhuya Zaojiao) (skin removed, stir-fried, one version says roasted), Cinnamon Bark (Rougui), Dried Ginger (Ganjiang) (processed), Clove (Dingxiang), Curcuma Zedoaria (Peng'Ezhu) (each 1 liang), Genkwa Flower (Yuanhua) (soaked in vinegar overnight, stir-fried until slight smoke appears), Green Tangerina Peel (Qingju Pi), Cardamom (Baidoukou), Ink Stick (Mo) (burned until 80% consumed, each 0.5 liang), Pepper (Hujiao) (1 fen), Arsenic Trioxide Powder (Fenshuang) (ground, 1 fen), Wheat Flour (Mian) (2 liang, mixed with 0.5 jin of wine). Combine Nao Sha with vinegar and Badou, boil for the duration of a meal. Add Mengshi and Sanleng, then add wine and flour, then add Dahuang, with intervals of about a meal between additions. After prolonged boiling, add the remaining herbs and simmer to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 3-5 pills per dose, washed down with wine. It can cure conditions such as accumulations (Zheng Ji), injuries from diet, Qi stagnation leading to undigested food, etc. It promotes digestion, regulates Qi, stops diarrhea, and treats various cold syndromes in the abdomen.
[Another Accumulation-Dissolving Formula] Aconite Root (Wutou) (processed, skin removed), Cinnamon Twig (Gui), Cyperus Rhizome (Xiangfuzi) (lightly stir-fried), Dried Ginger (Ganjiang) (processed), Aged Tangerina Peel (Chenju Pi) (lightly stir-fried). First, take the kernels of Sichuan Croton Seeds (Chuan Badou), and fry them slowly in Sesame Oil (Mamayou) from morning until noon. Stop when the seeds turn the color of soap pods. Rinse clean, soak in cold water for two days, changing the water twice daily. Dry thoroughly and grind into an extremely fine oil-like paste. Grinding must continue for one day before use. Scrape out with an iron spoon, spread thinly on new tiles to a thickness of one layer of paper. Wait for one double-hour (two hours), scrape down, and grind again to extreme fineness. For every 1 liang of Badou Shuang, mix with 5 liang of each other herb ground into fine powder, and grind together with the Badou Shuang for thousands of turns. Sieve through silk gauze and grind further to ensure uniformity. Take 1.5 sheng of aged rice, grind into fine powder, mix with water to form a paste, wait until it smells slightly sour and foul, then cook into a hard paste. Grind finely until no lumps remain, then mix with the herbal powders to form pills the size of mung beans. Take 5-7 pills per dose, taken with any appropriate decoction. This is a food-medicine therapy; however, among such therapies, no formula has such large dosages. It harmonizes the Spleen and Stomach, resolves Qi, stimulates appetite, stops diarrhea, and removes accumulations. For any food stagnation or obstruction, consumption leads to immediate resolution. For all abdominal irregularities and Spleen-Stomach diseases, recovery is assured. In Suzhou, a man sold a Zhusha Wan (Cinnabar Pill) for food-medicine therapy, claiming it could treat everything with miraculous efficacy, making him extremely wealthy. Users were widespread, but few obtained the true formula. Later, his relative stole the formula and found it identical to this one, except that Cinnabar (Zhusha) was added as a coating. Families should keep this formula ready; it is suitable for both young and old and is truly reliable.
