[Heat Consumption]
[D] Women's heat consumption is caused by heat congestion in heart and lungs, damaging blood and qi, leading to mental restlessness, red cheeks and headache, dry eyes and lips, oral ulcers, mental fatigue, strong heat in limbs, loss of taste, limb soreness, palpitations and night sweats, daily emaciation, or alternating chills and fever. One should examine the cause, regulate and tonify blood and qi, and the disease will heal itself.
[Xue] The above symptoms are caused by vigorous fire consuming qi and deficient fire boiling true yin. Wang Taipu said: If severe cold does not respond to heat treatment, it is lack of fire (Kidney Yang Deficiency). Heat comes and goes, appears by day and hides by night, erupts by night and stops by day, it is lack of fire. Treat the Heart. If severe heat does not respond to cooling treatment, it is lack of water (Kidney Yin Deficiency). Heat moves and stops, comes and goes suddenly, moves and stops intermittently, it is lack of water. Tonify the Kidney. Heart excess generates heat, Kidney excess generates cold. Kidney deficiency causes cold to move internally, Heart deficiency causes heat to collect internally. I believe that for the above symptoms, if Liver-Spleen blood deficiency, use Siwu Tang plus Renshen and Baizhu. Liver-Spleen depression and anger, use Xiaochaihu Tang combined with Siwu Tang. Spleen-Stomach qi deficiency, use Buzhong Yiqi Tang. Liver-Spleen blood deficiency, use Jiawei Xiaoyao San. Liver meridian wind-heat, use Jiawei Xiaochaihu Tang. Heart meridian blood deficiency, use Tianwang Buxin Dan. Lung meridian qi deficiency, use Ren Shen Bufei Tang. Liver meridian blood deficiency, use Jiawei Siwu Tang. Generally, morning heat belongs to qi level, use Qingxin Lianzi Yin. (Formula see Miscellaneous Diseases Red and White Turbidity.) Afternoon heat belongs to blood level, use Siwu Tang, Renshen, Baizhu, Mudanpi. Heat rising from the left is Liver Fire; excess use Siwu Tang, Longdan Cao, Shanzhi; deficiency use Siwu Tang, Renshen, Baizhu, Huangqi. Heat rising from below the navel is Yin Fire, use Siwu Tang, Renshen, Baizhu, Huangbai, Zhimu (wine-mixed, black-roasted), Wuweizi, Maidong, Rougui. If ineffective, urgently use Jiajian Bawei Wan. Intermittent heat, or no fixed location, or rising from soles, this is rootless deficient fire, use Jiajian Bawei Wan, and Shiquan Dabu Tang plus Maidong and Wuweizi.
A woman had irregular menstruation, loss of appetite, severe afternoon fever; this was Liver-Spleen blood and qi deficiency, cured with Shiquan Dabu Tang plus Shanzhuyu, Shanyao, Mudanpi, Maidong, Wuweizi. Next autumn, chills and fever like malaria, still cured with previous medicine. A woman had multiple births, irregular menstruation, hot feet, after one year whole body hot, labor causes foot soreness, after another year lip swelling and cracking, after half year lip bleeding, emaciated and tired, loss of appetite, amenorrhea; this was blood and qi decline. She mistakenly used Tongjing Wan etc., further damaging blood and qi, leading to death.
