Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Baishaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), Shudihuang (Prepared Radix Rehmanniae), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Lianqiao (Fructus Forsythiae), Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii), Duhuo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis), Ruxiang (Olibanum), Moyao (Myrrha), Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), Xuduan (Radix Dipsaci), Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae).

Note: To tonify blood, Renshen (Radix Ginseng) and Huangqi (Radix Astragali) must be used as the sovereign drugs. Here, only the Four Substances Formula is used, which is also a blood-invigorating prescription, not a blood-tonifying one. Moreover, adding Qianghuo, Duhuo, Fangfeng, and Baizhi disperses and depletes the Qi.
[Regulating Qi]
Che Xiao Tongqi San (Eliminate and Unblock Qi Powder): Treats pain caused by contusions and traumatic injuries, early-stage breast abscesses or perineal boils, or pain caused by Qi stagnation.
Muxiang (Radix Aucklandoniae), Huixiang (Fructus Foeniculi, stir-fried), Qingpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride, remove white pith), Chuanshanjia (Squama Manis, fried in butter), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Loulu (Radix Radicis Euphorbiae), Beimu (Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae) (equal parts).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. For each dose, take 1-2 qian, take with warm wine.
Xue Ji's Note: The previous formula is an excellent remedy for pain caused by sprains and contusions, or Qi stagnation and blood coagulation due to anger. The Classics state: Injury to the form causes pain; injury to the Qi causes swelling. It also states: Swelling before pain indicates form injuring Qi; pain before swelling indicates Qi injuring form. If a person's Yuan Qi (Original Qi) is inherently weak, or if shouting and crying have damaged Qi and Blood, or if excessive use of purgative herbs or topical cooling herbs has caused Qi and Blood coagulation, one should examine the general principles mentioned earlier and adopt warming and tonifying methods for Qi and Blood.
[Bone Setting]
Jiegu Shenxiao Wubi Leiyanshi (Divine Effectiveness Bone-Knitting Miracle Formula): Use 108 copper coins worth "Dang San Qian" (coins with thick characters and attached grass). Pierce them with an iron wire. Use a piece of living mulberry wood as fuel to heat the coins until red. Place them into a large bowl of unboiled rice vinegar (do not add salt). Quench the heated coins in the vinegar repeatedly until the vinegar dries up. Collect the copper coin powder that falls off in the vinegar, wash away the ash with vinegar, sun-dry, and grind into an extremely fine powder. Then, take one black rooster, boil it in clear soup, remove the meat, and take one set of bones. Roast the bones in vinegar until crisp, then grind into powder. Add 1 liang each of Ruxiang (Olibanum) and Moyao (Myrrha), and mix evenly with the copper coin powder. For each dose, take an amount equivalent to "Yi Zi" (a small measure). Before taking the medicine, take hair from the top of the patient's head, wash away dirt, burn to ash, and add to the medicine. Take with unadulterated wine. If there is no vomiting, one dose is sufficient; if vomited, take another dose. If pain stops, do not take more. First, fix the fractured bone correctly with splints. Scrape the inner fleshy part and outer rough bark of Yangshupi (Poplar Bark), mash into a paste, and apply externally. Pain ceases immediately after swallowing. Movement is possible within five to seven days. Lifelong avoidance of Bibi (Water Chestnut) is required.
Another Formula: Use 1.2 liang of Wuzhu coins quenched in vinegar, and 3 liang of black chicken bones, ground finely and mixed. For lower body ailments, take 4 qian on an empty stomach; for upper body ailments, take 2.5 qian frequently after meals. Another version includes Ruxiang (Olibanum) and Moyao (Myrrha).
Jiegu Formula: Use 0.5 liang of coins quenched in vinegar, plus Susmu (Lignum Sappan), Dingfen (Lead Carbonate), and Nanbengsha (Borax) each 1 qian. Grind into powder. This constitutes one dose. Take with Danggui-infused wine two or three times. Stop taking when pain ceases.
[Dandan] Jiegu San (Bone-Knitting Powder)
Moyao (Myrrha), Ruxiang (Olibanum) (each 5 qian), Ziran Tong (Calcareous Pyrite, 1 liang, quenched in vinegar), Huashi (Talcum), Longgu (Os Draconis, 3 qian), Chishizhi (Halloysitum Rubrum), Baishizhi (Halloysitum Album) (each 2 qian), Shexiang (Moschus, added later, a small amount).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Soak in good vinegar, boil until mostly dry, then stir-fry until dry. Before taking, add a small amount of Shexiang (Moschus), place a small tea spoonful on the tongue, and take with warm wine. Dosage depends on whether the ailment is upper or lower; take before or after meals respectively. If bones are knit but pain persists, remove Longgu (Os Draconis) and Shizhi (Halloysites) and take more. Continue until cured.
[Shi] Another Bone-Knitting Formula

Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. For each dose, take 5 qian, take with wine. Take after meals for upper body ailments, before meals for lower body ailments.

Grind the above ingredients into fine powder, bind with vinegar paste, and form pills the size of Sophora seeds. For each dose, take 10-20 pills, take with warm wine. Take after meals for upper body ailments, before meals for lower body ailments.
