This formula is also used to treat thirteen types of ding sores; all are treated by this method.
Take a piece of crimson silk, wrap the medicine in it, limiting the wrapping to one circumference. First, place a clump of loose hair the size of an egg on the cloth, put Niuhuang (Bovini Calculus, the size of a paulownia seed) on it, then add twenty-one thorns from a jujice tree and seven seeds of Vigna umbellata (Adzuki bean), grind them into powder, and mix them onto the hair. Roll the crimson cotton into a ball, tie it crosswise with a rope made of hair, place it in an ironing pan, burn it quickly to ash, and grind it finely. Collect Gouqi (Lycii Fructus), or its root bark, leaves, or branches, choose whichever is available, and grind them into powder. Take two scoops of Gouqi powder and one scoop of crimson silk ash, totaling three scoops, mix and grind evenly. Divide into two doses, take on an empty stomach, mixed with warm wine.
