Dog bites can be treated by applying human feces to the wound. When bitten by a dog, apply head scurf (scalp dirt) to the injury; alternatively, apply hot cow dung externally (from *Zhouhou Fang*).
[Yan] For dog bites: Use apricot kernels. Based on the size of the injury, chew the kernels thoroughly and apply the paste to the broken skin, securing it with cloth. The patient will recover immediately.
[Shi] To treat dog bites: Remove the skin and tips of apricot kernels, grind them finely together with the roots of *Iris lactea* (Malin gen). First wash the wound with green onion decoction, then apply this medicine. It is effective.
To treat dog bites: Take 50 castor beans (*Ricini Semen*), remove the shells, and grind into a paste using well water. First wash the bite with salt water, then apply this paste. Another prescription uses tiger bone powder applied to the wound. To treat dog bites: Do not wash the wound. Crush red charcoal into fine powder, let it cool, and apply to the bite site for recovery. Apply crushed yellow jing leaves (*Vitex negundo*) to the sore for immediate relief. Another method: Roast fresh ginger and rub it on the wound while hot, which is excellent. Another method: Mix brick dust (wall plaster) with cow dung and apply.
[Duan] For dog bites: Chew perilla leaves (*Perillae Folium*) thoroughly and apply. For dog bites causing tetanus-like swelling: Burn ginseng root (*Ren Shen*) over mulberry wood fire until it turns to ash, then apply the powder to calm the condition.
[Luo] Chan Hua San (Cicada Flower Powder): Treats summer dog bites and various injuries where maggots are abundant and the odor is unbearable.
Snake slough (*Ophichii Corneum*, 1 liang, burnt to retain its nature), cicada shell (*Cicadae Periostracum*, 0.5 liang), indigo naturalis (*Qing Dai*, 0.5 liang), asarum (*Xi Xin*, 2.5 qian).
Grind all into fine powder. Take 3 qian each time, mixed with wine. For livestock bites resulting in sores, administer with wine. For dog bites, mix with fermented dough and consume; maggots will dissolve into water, and flies will not land again. Additionally, sprinkle cold stone powder (*Hanshui Shi*) dry onto the wound.
Ding Feng San (Wind-Calming Powder): Treats rabid dog bites. Rinse the wound with "jiang shui" (fermented rice water), dry with cotton, and apply the medicine. It prevents recurrence and is highly effective.
Aconitum carmichaelii lateral root prepared (*Tian Nan Xing*, raw), saposhnikovia root (*Fang Feng*), equal parts.
Grind into fine powder and apply dry to the wound. It prevents recurrence, produces no pus, and its efficacy is beyond description.
[Duan] To treat dog bites: Burn gardenia bark (*Zhi Zi Pi*) to ash, mix equally with native sulfur (*Shi Liu Huang*), grind finely, and apply until healed. (From *Mei Shi Fang*.)
[Shi] To treat rabid dog bites: Take half a peach pit shell, fill it with wild human feces, cover with elm bark, and apply to the wound. Moxibustion on the peach pit for 14 moxa cones cures it permanently. (Alternatively, use wild dog feces and moxibustion as above.) Another method: Moxibustion on the wound for 5-7 cones.
[Shan] For rabid dog bites: Apply dog feces directly and pluck out red hairs from the top of the head.
[Shi] Prescription for mad dog bites: Take 7 blister beetles (*Ban Mao*), remove heads, feet, and wings. Stir-fry with a small amount of glutinous rice on a new tile until the rice turns yellow-brown. Discard the rice. Grind the beetles and take with good wine. If the patient can drink, give another cup of wine. If the wound is on the upper body, take after meals; if on the lower body, take on an empty stomach. Toxic matter resembling a small dog will be excreted in urine that day. If not excreted, repeat the next day, and continue until toxic matter is expelled. Even after seven doses without expulsion, it is harmless. After taking the medicine, abdominal discomfort and stinging pain in the urethra are expected signs of toxin expulsion. For severe pain, take 1 spoon of *Wu Qing* (blister beetle variant) decocted in licorice soup to stop pain. If unavailable, *Qing Dai* may be used. After recovery, take large amounts of Angelica dahurica (*Xiang Bai Zhi*) and a little realgar (*Xiong Huang*) ground into powder, mixed with fresh chive juice (*Jiu Gen*), taken with hot water or wine to detoxify the blister beetle poison. Rinse mouth with clean water, chew raw white part of green onion (*Cong Bai*) and apply to the wound, leaving a small opening for toxic gas to escape. Do not apply other herbs. Avoid dog, pig, mutton, and wind-inducing toxic foods. Adjust blister beetle dosage for children based on age. Illness caused by eating mad dog meat is treated similarly and heals quickly, or recurs after 2-3 years, treated as before.
For mad dog bites: Take 21 blister beetles (*Ban Mao*), remove heads, wings, and feet. Use one scoop of glutinous rice. Stir-fry 7 beetles with rice over low heat without reddening the rice, then remove beetles. Take another 7, stir-fry in the same rice until beetles change color, then remove. Take the final 7, stir-fry as before until rice emits blue smoke, then discard beetles. Grind the rice into powder. Take on an empty stomach mixed with cold water and a little clear oil. Repeat dose shortly after. Continue until foul matter is passed in urine. If no diarrhea occurs, take another dose. If abdominal pain follows diarrhea, immediately take indigo dye (*Qing Dian*) mixed with cold water to resolve toxicity, otherwise harm may occur. Decoction of Coptis (*Huang Lian*) is also suitable. Avoid hot food. Yi Yuan San (*Yi Yuan San*) mixed with water is especially good. Another method: Wash wound with rice washing water, apply sugar. Then decoct 4 liang of Yi Yuan San with 14 blister beetles (heads, wings, feet removed). Take warm on an empty stomach. Another method: Mix 5 qian realgar (*Xiong Huang*) and 5 fen musk (*She Xiang*), take 2 qian with wine to expel foul matter. Sleep after taking; do not wake up. Effective for chronic recurrences.
[Shi] For rabid dog bites: Stir-fry infant hair (*Tai Fa*) until fragrant and apply. Grind wild chrysanthemum (*Ye Ju Hua*) finely, take with wine until drunk for effect. Another method: Drink 2-3 cups of fresh chive root juice (*Jiu Gen*). Another method: Boil one handful of peach inner bark (*Tao Bai Pi*) in 2 cups of water until reduced to 1 cup, then drink.
[Shi] For mad dog bites that recur after a long time and have no cure, this formula is extremely effective.
Realgar (*Xiong Huang*, bright colored, 5 qian), musk (*She Xiang*, 5 fen).
Grind uniformly, take 2 qian mixed with wine. If the patient refuses, force-feed by pinching the nose. Ensure the patient sleeps after taking; do not startle them awake. Wait for natural waking and expulsion of foul matter, then administer again for effect.
[Duan] For rabid dog bites: Drink juice of Rehmannia root (*Di Huang*) and apply to the sore for healing. Another method: Drink decoction of Sanguisorba root (*Di Yu*) and apply powdered form to the sore. Take 1 cun bi (square inch measure) three times daily, avoid alcohol. If the sore has healed, drink 1-2 sheng of fresh chive juice. (Same as *Mei Shi Fang* and *Zhou Hou Fang*.) For rabid dog bites where toxicity manifests as barking sounds: Burn skulls from mass graves (*Hua Ren Tan*) and apply powder. For rabid dog bites with barking symptoms unresponsive to hundred remedies: Burn human bones, take 1 cun bi with water; even if delirious, it cures. (From *Mei Shi Fang*.) Alum (*Dan Fan*) powder applied to sores cures immediately.
