Treatment for centipede bites. Apply fresh chicken blood to the wound; recovery is immediate. This method has been proven effective repeatedly: A man once had a centipede enter his throat and bite him, leaving him on the verge of death. A physician instructed him to slaughter a live chicken and pour the hot blood into his throat. The centipede was expelled immediately, and he recovered. This is indeed an excellent prescription. Another prescription involves applying chicken manure to the affected area. Yet another prescription treats bites from centipedes and various venomous insects: light a lamp with sesame oil and smoke the wound by holding it opposite the flame; healing occurs instantly. Another method involves lighting a large oil-paper lamp, extinguishing it after burning, and using the residual smoke to fumigate the wound. This also treats scorpion stings and other venomous insect injuries. For centipede bites, crush bamboo leaves to extract clear juice and apply it to the site; recovery is immediate. Another prescription uses Rhizoma Arisaematis (Nanxing, 天南星) ground into juice for application, which has proven effective multiple times. Centipede grass (Wugongscao, 蜈蚣草), dried and powdered, mixed with a small amount of salt and water, applied to the lesion, can detoxify various poisons.
[Mei] For centipede bites causing unceasing pain, grind a single-clove garlic and apply it to the sting site; recovery is immediate.
[Sheng] Prescription for centipede bites: Extract juice from snails (Helix Aspersa/Multigera) and drip it into the bitten area.
[Sun] For centipede bites: Place one spider on the bite site; the spider will naturally absorb the toxin. If the spider dies but pain persists, replace it with a fresh one.
[Duan] For centipede bites: Chew salt and apply it to the injured area; subsequently wash with saline solution. (From *Meishi Fang*.) For centipede bites, block the wound with head dandruff; if it does not hurt, it may itch. To treat centipede and various insect bites/poisoning, first rub the wound with the sole of a shoe, then apply garlic, small garlic, or mulberry leaves as a compress. If unavailable, use fermented soybeans soaked in oil as a compress; or apply indigo dye mixed with salt as a compress, which is also effective. For centipede and venomous insect bites: Rub the painful area with juice from mulberry branches mixed with salt; or melt beeswax and drip it onto the lesion until the flesh turns black. Another prescription: Place Fructus Gleditsiae Sinensis (Zaocys/Saponaria, specifically the pod here referred to as Zaojiao, 皂角) on the bite site, apply moxibustion heat, then remove it for effect. Mix Realgar powder (Xionghuang, 雄黄) with ginger juice for application. Another prescription: Rub the painful area with ash amaranth leaves (Huixianye, 灰苋叶); pain stops immediately. Another prescription: Dip rush pith (Dengcao, 灯草) in sesame oil, ignite to produce smoke, and fumigate the area. Another prescription: Upon any injury, quickly draw the character "Wang" (王) on dry ground with your finger, scoop up some soil, and sprinkle it on the bite site; healing follows immediately. Another prescription: Apply a small amount of earwax to the bite site; pain ceases immediately. Another prescription: Chew Cornus officinalis fruits (Zhuyu, 茱萸) thoroughly and rub them on the wound. Another prescription: Mix Concha Meretricis (Bangfen, 蚌粉) with ginger juice and apply.
