上二味，为末，炼蜜和丸，如小豆大。饮服三丸，日三服。

龙齿丹 治心血虚寒，怔忡不已，痰多恍惚。

灵砂宁志丸 治男妇大病后，损伤荣卫，失血过多，精气虚损，心神恍惚，不得眠睡，
饮食全减，肌体瘦弱。
辰砂（二两，不夹石者，用夹绢袋盛悬于银石器内，用椒红三两，取井花水调椒入于器内，可八分，
别用锅子注水，置朱砂器在内，重汤煮令鱼眼沸，三昼夜为度，取出辰砂，细研水飞） 白术 鹿茸（燎去
毛，酥炙黄） 黄 （蜜炙。各三两） 石菖蒲（二两） 茯神（去木） 人参（各三两）
上为末，入辰砂研匀，枣肉和杵一二千下，丸如桐子。每服三十丸，空心温酒米饮任下。
附∶枣肉灵砂 专治虚人夜不得睡，梦中惊魔，自汗忡悸。

为末，用生姜五两取汁，入水煮糊丸，如绿豆大，别以朱砂为衣。每服三十粒，临卧姜汤下。
叶氏人参固本丸 夫心生血，血生气，气生精，精盛则须发不白，容貌不衰。今人滋
补血气，多用性热之药，殊非其治。此方盖用生地黄能生精血，用天门冬引入所生之地；
熟地黄能补精血，用麦门冬引入所补之地；又以人参能通心气，使五味并归于心。

上为末，炼蜜丸，如梧桐子。空心温酒或盐汤下三十丸。
《济生方》心丹 治男妇心气不足，神志不宁，一切心疾并治之。

上加人参等十四味，各如法修制，锉碎拌匀，次将朱砂滚和，以夹生绢袋盛贮，用麻线紧扎袋口。
却用瓦锅一口，盛水七分，重安银罐一个于锅内，入白蜜二十斤，将药袋悬之中心，不令着底，使蜜浸
过药袋。以桑柴火烧令滚沸，勿使火歇，煮三日蜜焦黑，再换蜜煮，候七日足住火，取出淘去众药，洗
净朱砂令干，入牛心内，仍用银锅于重汤内蒸，如汤干，复以热水从锅弦添下，候牛心蒸烂，取砂再换
牛心，如前法蒸凡七次，其砂已熟，即用沸水淘净焙干，入乳钵，玉杵研至十分细，米粽为丸，如豌豆
大，阴干。每服二十丸，食后参汤、枣汤、麦门冬汤任下。
补心神效丸（《百一》）
黄 （蜜炙，焙） 茯神（去木） 人参（去芦） 远志（去心。各四两） 熟干地黄（三两） 柏子仁（别研）
酸枣仁（去壳） 五味子（各二两） 朱砂（一分，别研）
上为末，炼蜜和丸，如桐子大。每服五十丸，米饮温酒任下。盗汗不止，麦麸汤下。
乱梦失精，人参、龙骨汤下。卒暴心痛，乳香汤下。虚烦发热，麦门冬汤下。吐血，人
参汤下。大便下血，当归地榆汤下。小便出血，茯苓、车前子汤下。中风不语，薄荷、
生姜汤下。风痫涎潮，防风汤下。
八物定志丸 补益心神，安定魂魄，治痰，去胸中邪热。
人参（一两半） 菖蒲 远志（去心） 茯苓 茯神（去皮。各一两） 朱砂（一钱） 白术 麦门冬

上为细末，炼蜜丸，如桐子大。米饮下三十丸，不拘时。
天王补心丸 宁心保神，益血固精，壮力强志，令人不忘。除怔忡，定惊悸，清三
焦，化痰涎，祛烦热，疗咽干，育养心神。
人参（去芦，五钱） 当归（酒浸） 五味子 麦门冬（去心） 天门冬（去心） 柏子仁 酸枣仁（各
一两） 白茯苓（去皮） 玄参 丹参 桔梗 远志（各五钱） 生地黄（四两） 黄连（酒洗，炒，二两）
上为末，炼蜜丸，如桐子大，朱砂为衣。每服二三十丸，临卧灯草、竹叶煎汤下。此
方闻人道长所常服，当提学南畿，心神甚劳而不伤，此丹之功也。与刘松石中丞所传，少
石菖蒲、熟地黄、杜仲、百部、茯神、甘草六味。
补心丹（《玄珠》） 治心气不足，惊悸健忘。又能安养心神，兼治五脏，无偏胜之弊，可以久服。
麦门冬（二两半） 远志（甘草汤煮） 石菖蒲 香附（童便浸。各二两） 天门冬 栝蒌根 白术
贝母 熟地黄 茯神 地骨皮（各一两半） 人参 川当归 牛膝 黄 （各一两） 木通（八钱）
为细末，大枣肉为丸，桐子大。用酒或圆眼汤吞下五十丸。
天地丸 治心血燥少，口干咽燥，心烦喜冷，怔忡恍惚，小便黄赤，或生疮疡。
天门冬（去心，二两） 熟地黄（九蒸九曝，一两）
上为细末，炼蜜丸，如梧子大。每服百丸，不拘时，用人参煎汤下。
Banxia Mahuang Wan (Cinnamon Twig and Pinellia Pill) (from *Jingui Yaolue*)
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) (equal parts)
Grind the above two herbs into fine powder, mix with refined honey to form pills, sized like small beans. Take three pills per dose with warm water, three times daily.
Wendan Tang (Warm Gallbladder Decoction) (see "Jing" / Palpitations due to fright). Daotan Tang (Phlegm-Resolving Decoction) (see "Tanyin" / Phlegm-fluids). Shouxing Wan (Longevity Star Pill) (see "Xian" / Epilepsy).
Fuling Gancao Tang (Poria and Licorice Decoction) Treats palpitations and anxiety caused by fluid retention in the epigastrium.
Fuling (Poria), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (each 3 qian), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) (0.5 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (2 qian)
Add two zhong of water, decoct until one zhong remains. Take at any time.
Fuling Yinzi (Poria Drink) (from *Jisheng Fang*) Treats phlegm-fluids accumulating in the heart and stomach, causing persistent panic and palpitations.
Chifuling (Red Poria), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma preparata), Fushen (Poria cum Radice), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Jupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (each 1.5 qian), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma preparata cum melle) (each 1 qian)
Add two zhong of water and three slices of ginger, decoct until 0.8 zhong remains. Take well after meals.
Jiangshu Tang (Ginger and Atractylodes Decoction) Treats panic and palpitations due to retained fluids.
Baijiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Banxiaqu (Pinelliae Fermentum) (each 1 qian), Lagui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 0.5 qian)
Add one zhong of water, three slices of ginger, and one red date, decoct until 0.6 zhong remains. Take at any time.
Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) (see "Xiaodan" / Wasting-thirst).
Zhigancao Tang (Prepared Licorice Decoction) (also known as Fumai Tang / Pulse-Restoring Decoction) Treats intermittent pulse (jie dai) and palpitations.
Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma preparata) (1 liang 2 qian 1 zi), Ren Shen (Panacis Ginseng Radix) (6 qian 2 zi), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens) (1.5 liang), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Huomaren (Cannabis Fructus), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix) (each 1 liang), Ejiao (Asini Corii Colla) (6 qian 2 zi)
Mix five sheng of water and wine. Add one liang of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and twelve dates. Add two sheng 3 he of clear wine and two sheng 7 he of water. Boil to obtain two sheng of liquid. Strain the dregs. Dissolve Ejiao completely into the liquid. Divide into three doses.
Renshen Yangrong Tang (Ginseng Nourishing Virtue Decoction) (see "Xulao" / Deficiency consumption).
Heji Paifeng Tang (Regulated Formulation Wind-Expelling Decoction) Treats deficiency wind, cold, and dampness obstructing the meridians, causing palpitations. It is advisable to add Chao Suanzaoren (Stir-fried Ziziphi Spinosae Semen). (See original formula under "Zhongfeng" / Stroke).
Ziyin Yihuo Tang (Nourish Yin and Suppress Fire Decoction)
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix preparata), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) (each 1 qian), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 0.5 qian)
If the body feels restless as if flying and heartbeat is irregular, add Zhiyingshi (Fluoritum) and Renshen (Panacis Ginseng Radix) (each 1 qian).
Add two zhong of water, decoct until 0.7 zhong remains. Add half a zhan of Tongbian (Child's Urine). Take before meals.
Dingzhi Wan (Calming Will Pill) (see "Jing"). Miaoxiang San (Wonderful Fragrance Powder) (see "Kuang" / Mania). Gushen Jiahe San (Grain God Grain-Benefiting Powder) (see "Fanwei" / Regurgitation).
Supplementary Formulas
*Jisheng Fang* Yirong Tang (Benefit Nutrient Decoction) Treats excessive worry that consumes Heart blood. Once Heart blood is damaged, the Spirit has no abode, leading to palpitations, mental confusion, tendency towards sadness and worry, lackluster complexion, insomnia at night, and turbid urine.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, de-rhizome, wine-soaked), Huangqi (Astragali Membranacei Radix, de-rhizome), Xiaocao (Herba Oxytropidis), Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, stir-fried, de-husked), Baiziren (Platycladi Semen), Fushen (Poria cum Radice), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Renshen (Panacis Ginseng Radix, de-rhizome), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, de-heart), Zhiyingshi (Fluoritum calcined and ground), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma preparata cum melle) (each 1 qian)
Take as one dose. Add two zhong of water, three slices of ginger, and one red date. Decoct until one zhong remains. Take at any time.
Secret Formula Suanzaoren Tang (Sour Jujube Seed Decoction) Treats failure of interaction between Heart and Kidney (Water and Fire not communicating), depletion of essence and blood, internal accumulation of phlegm-fluids, causing palpitations, mental confusion, and restless sleep at night.
Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, de-husked, stir-fried), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, de-heart, processed), Huangqi (Astragali Membranacei Radix), Bai Fuling (White Poria), Lianrou (Nelumbinis Nuciferae Plumula, de-heart), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, wine-soaked), Renshen (Panacis Ginseng Radix), Fushen (Poria cum Radice) (each 1 liang), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Fencacao (Licorice Root Powder, prepared with honey) (each 0.5 liang)
Crush the herbs. Take four qian per dose. Add one and a half zhong of water, three slices of ginger, and one date. Decoct in a clay pot until 0.7 zhong remains. Take twice daily, once before bed.
Ye's Zhixin Shuangshen Tang (Nourish Heart and Refresh Spirit Decoction) Treats non-interaction between Heart and Kidney, excess above and deficiency below, mental confusion, excessive sleepiness with startle palpitations, frequent urination, and seminal emission or white turbidity.

Crush the herbs. Take four qian per dose. Add one zhong of water and one spoon of honey. Decoct until 0.5 zhong remains. Strain. Add a small amount of Shexiang (Moschus). Boil for one or two more boils. Take warm at any time.
Yu Jushi Xuanqi Fang (Scholar Yu's Selected Marvelous Formula) Treats constant palpitations, fear when walking in dangerous places, forgetting past events and losing track of subsequent ones.
Baitanxiang (Dalbergiae Odoriferae Lignum), Bai Fuling (White Poria), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex) (each 12 fen), Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), Tianzhuhuang (Bambusae Concretio Silicea), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Suhexiang (Styrax), Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu) (each 4 fen), Tiandong (Asparagi Radix, de-heart), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, de-heart), Renshen (Panacis Ginseng Radix) (each 6 fen), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (10 fen)
Grind into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills, sized like cherries. Take one pill per dose after meals, holding it in the mouth to dissolve, or swallow with rice drink.
Ren Shen Ru Wan (Ginseng and Frankincense Pill) Treats insufficiency of Heart Qi, palpitations, and spontaneous sweating.
Renshen (Panacis Ginseng Radix, de-rhizome, 1 liang), Ruxiang (Olibanum, 3 qian, separately ground), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 2 liang)
Grind into fine powder and mix evenly. Use cooked Chinese yam paste to form pills, sized like sophora seeds. Take thirty pills per dose after meals with date soup.
Longchi Dan (Dragon Tooth Elixir) Treats deficiency-cold of Heart Blood, persistent palpitations, excessive phlegm, and mental confusion.
Longchi (Dent Draconis), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, de-heart, boiled in licorice water), Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, stir-fried, de-husked, ground), Guanzi Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex, de-bark, unroasted), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, de-rhizome, wine-soaked), Hupo (Electrum), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata, de-skin and navel, sliced, soaked in ginger juice overnight), Nanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, crushed, soaked in ginger juice overnight) (each 1 liang), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, unroasted), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum, separately ground, unroasted), Zhiyingshi (Fluoritum calcined and quenched in vinegar), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, wine-steamed, dried) (each 0.5 liang)
Grind into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills, sized like sophora seeds. Coat with Cinnabar (Zhusha). Take fifty pills per dose at any time with date soup.
Lingsha Ningzhi Wan (Cinnabar-Sulfur Calming Will Pill) Treats men and women after severe illness, where Ying and Wei are damaged, excessive blood loss leads to deficiency of essence and Qi, mental confusion, inability to sleep, complete loss of appetite, and emaciation.
Chensha (Vermilion, 2 liang, pure without stone impurities, placed in a silk bag suspended in a silver/copper vessel. Add 3 liang of Sichuan pepper red, fill with well water to 8/10 full. Place this vessel in a larger pot of water. Heat over double-boiler until bubbling like fish eyes. Boil for three days and nights. Remove Chensha, grind finely, and process by water flotation), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Lurong (Cervi Cornu Degelatinatum, de-hair, roasted with butter until yellow), Huangqi (Astragali Membranacei Radix, honey-roasted) (each 3 liang), Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, 2 liang), Fushen (Poria cum Radice), Renshen (Panacis Ginseng Radix) (each 3 liang)
Grind into powder. Mix thoroughly with Chensha. Knead with date flesh for 1000-2000 strikes. Form pills sized like sophora seeds. Take thirty pills per dose on an empty stomach with warm wine or rice drink.
Appendix: Zaorou Lingsha (Date Flesh Cinnabar-Sulfur) Specifically treats deficiency constitutions unable to sleep at night, nightmares, spontaneous sweating, and palpitations.

Grind into powder. Form pills with date flesh, sized like mung beans. Swallow five to seven pills before bed with date soup.
Chensha Yuanzhi Wan (Cinnabar and Polygala Pill) Calms the mind, settles the Heart, expels wind, and resolves phlegm.

Grind into powder. Extract juice from five liang of fresh ginger. Use this juice to boil paste for forming pills, sized like mung beans. Coat separately with Cinnabar. Take thirty pills before bed with ginger tea.
Ye's Renshen Guben Wan (Ginseng Root-Fortifying Pill) The Heart generates Blood; Blood generates Qi; Qi generates Essence. When Essence is abundant, hair does not turn white, and appearance remains vigorous. Nowadays, people tonify Blood and Qi using many hot-natured herbs, which is inappropriate. This formula uses Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens) to generate essence and blood, guided by Tiandong (Asparagi Radix) to the place of generation; Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) to tonify essence and blood, guided by Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix) to the place of tonification; and Renshen (Panacis Ginseng Radix) to unblock Heart Qi, allowing the five flavors to return to the Heart.

Zhusha (Cinnabaris, 50 liang), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, de-heart, boiled in licorice water), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, wine-washed, steamed, dried), Xinluo Renshen (Korean Ginseng), Mugueren (Momordicae Semen, stir-fried, de-husked), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, de-rhizome, wine-soaked, dried), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, de-heart), Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), Shilianrou (Nelumbinis Nuciferae Plumula, de-heart, stir-fried), Huangqi (Astragali Membranacei Radix, de-rhizome), Fushen (Poria cum Radice), Baiziren (Platycladi Semen, selected clean), Fuling (Poria, de-bark), Yizhiren (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus) (each 3 liang), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 5 liang)
Process the above fourteen herbs including Renshen according to standard methods. Crush and mix evenly. Roll in Zhusha (Cinnabaris). Store in a raw silk bag, tied tightly with hemp thread.
Place a clay pot filled 7/10 with water. Set a silver jar inside the pot. Add twenty jin of white honey into the silver jar. Suspend the herb bag in the center of the honey, ensuring it does not touch the bottom, so the honey covers the bag. Burn mulberry wood fire to keep boiling continuously for three days until honey turns dark black. Replace honey and continue boiling for another four days (total seven days). Stop fire. Remove the bag, wash away herbs, dry the Cinnabar. Place Cinnabar inside an ox heart. Steam in a silver jar over double-boiler. If water dries, add hot water along the rim. Steam until ox heart is rotten. Remove Cinnabar, replace with a new ox heart. Repeat steaming seven times. After processing, wash Cinnabar with boiling water, dry, grind in a mortar with jade pestle until extremely fine. Form pills with glutinous rice paste, sized like pea seeds. Dry in shade. Take twenty pills per dose after meals with Ginseng tea, date tea, or Ophiopogon tea.
Buxin Shenxiao Wan (Tonify Heart Divine Effect Pill) (from *Baiyi Xuanyi*)

Grind into powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills, sized like sophora seeds. Take fifty pills per dose with rice drink or warm wine. For unstoppable night sweats, take with wheat bran tea. For chaotic dreams and spermatorrhea, take with Ginseng and Dragon Bone tea. For sudden severe chest pain, take with Frankincense tea. For deficiency heat and irritability, take with Ophiopogon tea. For hematemesis, take with Ginseng tea. For hematochezia, take with Angelica and Sanguisorba tea. For hematuria, take with Poria and Plantago seed tea. For stroke with aphasia, take with Mint and Ginger tea. For wind-phlegm epilepsy, take with Saposhnikovia tea.
Bayu Dingzhi Wan (Eight-Ingredient Calming Will Pill) Tonifies Heart Spirit, stabilizes Hun and Po, resolves phlegm, clears pathogenic heat from the chest.

Eliminates palpitations, settles startle and palpitations, clears the Triple Burner, transforms phlegm, dispels irritability and heat, treats dry throat, nourishes Heart Spirit.

Grind into powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills, sized like sophora seeds. Coat with Cinnabar. Take twenty to thirty pills before bed with decoction of Dengcao (Junci Medulla) and Zhuye (Bambusae Folium). This formula was reportedly often taken by Daoist Master Ren Dao. When serving as Education Commissioner in Nanji, his Heart Spirit was greatly taxed but not injured, thanks to this pill. Compared to the formula passed down by Vice Minister Liu Songshi, it lacks six herbs: Shichangpu, Shudihuang, Duzhong, Duban, Fushen, and Gancao.
Buxin Dan (Heart-Nourishing Elixir) (from *Xuanzhu Miayu*) Treats insufficiency of Heart Qi, palpitations due to fright, and poor memory. It also nourishes Heart Spirit, treats the Five Zang organs simultaneously, avoids bias, and can be taken long-term.
