Take the above three herbs, mix with one sheng of Kujiu (fermented vinegar/wine) and seven sheng of water. Boil to obtain three sheng. Take one sheng warm. Heart vexation (*Xin Fan*) should occur; after six or seven days, it will resolve. If heart vexation persists, it is due to the obstruction by Kujiu.
Guizhi Jia Huangqi Tang (from *Jin Gui Yao Lue*)
Treats Jaundice (*Huang Dan*) with a floating pulse and a normal abdomen; sweating is appropriate. If there is abdominal fullness, desire to vomit, and internal restlessness (*Ao Nao*) with discomfort, vomiting is appropriate; sweating is not.

Take the above six herbs, boil in eight sheng of water to obtain three sheng. Take one sheng warm. Immediately drink over one sheng of hot thin porridge to assist the medicinal power, aiming for slight sweating. If no sweat occurs, take again.

Yinchen Wuling San
Treats Jaundice arising after colds from Taiyang syndrome, Warm-Heat diseases, or Damp-Heat invasion, with dark red urine, vexation, thirst, fever, and restlessness.
This is likely due to premature sweating or purging, or incorrect medication, leading to Damp-Heat invasion and generalized jaundice. I have used this formula with great effect.
Take one liang of raw material *Wuling San*, add half liang of *Yinchen*, one qian of *Cheqianzi*, one and a half qian each of *Mutong* and *Chaihu*. If contracted after drinking alcohol, add two qian of *Gegen*. Mix well and divide into two doses. Each dose: one bowl of water, fifty stems of *Dengcao*, decoct to 80% volume, remove dregs, take before meals. Re-decoct dregs and continue taking several doses. Recovery is indicated by clear and free urination.

Take the above three herbs, boil in one dou of water. First decoct *Yinchenhao* until reduced by six sheng. Add the other two herbs and decoct to obtain three sheng. Remove dregs and divide into three warm doses. Urination should be profuse like soapberry juice, bright red. After one night, abdominal fullness decreases, and yellow resolves via urination.

Fuling Yinchen Zhizi Tang (from *Bao Jian*)
Wanyan Zhengqing, in the second month of Bingyin year, suffered from official duties and labor, irregular diet, causing Heart Fire to invade Spleen and Spleen Qi deficiency. Anger and qi rebellion injured the Liver. Symptoms included epigastric fullness, limb fatigue, body numbness, progressing to jaundice of body and eyes with slight green tint, dark complexion, mental restlessness, palpitations, dizziness with urge to vomit, foul foam in mouth, slow digestion, vomiting undigested food, urinary retention with dark red-black urine, fever during Chen-Si hours (7-11 AM) resolving at dusk, worsening in April. His son sought urgent treatment.
Pulse was floating and moderate. *Jin Gui Yao Lue* states: Floating pulse at Cun indicates Wind, Moderate indicates Bi syndrome. Bi is not Wind Stroke. Limbs suffer vexation, Spleen color turns yellow, Stasis-Heat is moving. Juyang pulse tight indicates Spleen injury. Wind-Cold struggle causes dizziness upon eating, grain qi does not digest, Stomach suffers turbidity, turbid qi flows downward, urination blocked, Yin affected by Cold, Heat flows to Bladder, body turns yellow, named Grain Jaundice. This formula treats it.

Make one dose. Use three hu of long-flowing water, decoct to one hu. Remove dregs, take warm before meals. One dose reduces symptoms by half, two doses cure. *Neijing* states: For heat rampant inside, treat with salty-cold, assist with bitter-sweet. For dampness transforming into fire, heat prevails, treat with bitter-cold, drain with bitter,渗 with bland. *Zhizi* and *Yinchen* are bitter-cold to drain Damp-Heat and resolve jaundice, thus serving as Sovereign (*Jun*). *Nanjing* states: Treats epigastric fullness. *Huanglian* and *Zhishi* (note: text says Zhishi here but Zhike earlier, assuming same category) are bitter-cold to drain epigastric fullness. Lung governs Qi, heat injures Qi causing numbness, *Huangqin* is bitter-cold to drain fire and tonify Qi, thus serving as Minister (*Chen*). *Er Zhu* (both Atractylodes) are bitter-sweet-warm, *Qingpi* is bitter-acrid-warm, removing Damp-Heat in Stomach, draining stagnation, nourishing righteous Qi. *Hanfangji* is bitter-cold, removing retained dampness in twelve channels. *Zexie* is salty-neutral, *Fuling* and *Zhuming* are sweet-neutral, guiding Damp-Heat from Bladder, promoting urination, relieving retention.
