Baiyi Formula: Treats eye pain persisting for many years, or lasting up to three or forty years. Prescription: Take one raw conch (Hailuo), wash it, wipe the opening dry to make it open, insert one piece of Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian) into the conch's mouth, allowing the conch to absorb the juice of the Coptidis Rhizoma, squeeze out the juice using silk cotton, and apply it to the eye.
Sun Zhenren (Sun Simiao): Cook the conch with vegetables and eat it to treat heart pain.
The conch tastes pungent, is neutral in nature, and is non-toxic. It primarily treats Xiao Ke (wasting-thirst syndrome), directs Qi downward, promotes appetite, benefits the five Zang organs, and harmonizes the Middle Jiao. When eaten with fresh ginger and sauce, it eliminates retained food in the abdomen, induces hunger, and stops urination. The conch is transformed from sea foam in the South Sea; when boiled, it still turns into water, resembling a half-moon, hence its name. It belongs to the class of sea clams. *Shi Liao* (Dietary Therapy) states it is neutral. It primarily resolves phlegm and wards off evil spirits and toxins. It is best when mixed with raw Sichuan pepper and sauce for consumption, as it can digest various foods and induce hunger. Furthermore, since this creature is formed from water foam and remains liquid-like even when boiled, once it enters the abdomen, it causes cessation of urination. Thus, it is known to be beneficial to humans. Moreover, those who consume it do not suffer any apparent harm. From these observations, it appears to be beneficial. It is also known as "Yi Xia Yu".
The black-rotten dead silkworm tastes pungent, is warm in nature, and is non-toxic. It primarily tonifies the Middle Jiao, benefits Yang pathways, expels cold Qi, and enhances luster and vitality. It grows in the South Sea, resembling a cicada. Its larvae attach to wood; if the mother is smeared on coins and the larvae on strings, the larvae will return when the coins are used. *Huainanzi · Wanbi* records: Qingfu, also known as Yubo, involves smearing eighty-one coins with the blood of the mother insect and another eighty-one coins with the blood of the offspring. Whether placing the offspring coin or the mother coin, they will automatically return.
*Hai Yao Ben Cao*: According to *Yi Zhi*, it lives in the mountains of the South Sea, with males and females staying together inseparably. It primarily secures essence and reduces urination. It resembles green-gold in color.
It is toxic. It kills birds and beasts, erodes polyps, and is applied to malignant sores.
Baiyi Formula: Chigong (insects found in fermented soybeans) treats She Gong (toxic exposure). Taking one and placing it in the mouth cures the condition. Dead insects are also toxic and should not be swallowed. It is said that white plum peel...
It has slight toxicity. It erodes sores with roots and also treats external Ye Ji Bing (wild chicken disease), applied topically to sores, particularly those that are black and foul-smelling on clusters. White dead silkworms treat Bai You Dan (white erysipelas). Red dead silkworms treat Chi You Dan (red erysipelas). Both are applied topically. You Dan is also known as Zhen (rash).
