[Shican (Stone Silkworm)]
The medicinal property is non-toxic. It primarily treats traumatic injuries with bleeding, promotes muscle regeneration, breaks down lithiasis (urinary calculi), and dissipates blood stasis. When ground and ingested, it facilitates the expulsion of stone fragments. It grows beside rocks on the coast, resembling a silkworm in shape, but its substance is stone. (Added currently)
Minister Yuxi et al. verified according to *Yao Jue*: Shican has a bitter taste, is hot in nature, and is toxic.
It treats infantile convulsions, resolves phlegm-fluid retention, and can be combined with various herbs to make pills for oral administration. It should be stored in porcelain vessels; contact with gold or silver utensils must be avoided, as the metallic qi can permeate even tightly sealed containers. It is frequently used by Daoists, though not commonly required in secular medical prescriptions. (Newly defined)
Illustrations and descriptions are provided under the entry for *Zhongru Shi* (Gypsum Fibrosum) in *Tujing Bencao*.
[Shinao You (Petroleum/Naphtha)]
*Yanyi* states: Genuine Shinao You is difficult to collect and tends to seep into and corrode vessels. Its use in medicine is now minimal, though it may be needed in calcination processes. It is still commonly stored in oil-containing vessels (qu sheng, referring to vessels holding oil). Additionally, raw arsenic trioxide (Pishuang) is ground, mixed with Shinao You, and re-ground into a paste. This mixture is placed in a crucible, covered with clean tile shards, and heated over fire until the vessel glows red and the oil is exhausted. The residue is removed. The process of grinding and adding oil followed by heating is repeated twice in total, thereby stabilizing (Fu) the properties of the arsenic trioxide.
[Bai Ci Wa / Dingzhou Tile]
Nature is neutral, toxicity is none. It treats leukorrhea and white flooding in women, stops vomiting, breaks blood stasis, and stops bleeding. When ground with water and applied topically to sores, it eliminates scars. Those from Dingzhou are of superior quality; others are inferior. (Previously added in *Tang Bencao*)
Empirical Later Formulas: For treating persistent epistaxis (nosebleed). Take white porcelain from Dingzhou, finely grind into powder. Each time, take an amount equivalent to one ear-spoonful, insufflate into the nose, and bleeding stops immediately. Mei Shi Fang: For treating sudden onset of erysipelas-like red-black dermatosis on the face and body, resembling scabies. If not treated urgently, it becomes fatal throughout the body. For white dermatosis: Take powder from white porcelain tiles, mix with pig bile, and apply topically.
[Wugu Wa (Old Roof Tiles)]
Nature is cold, toxicity is none. Boiling in water or soaking to extract juice and drinking it stops polydipsia (excessive thirst). Tiles that have been on roofs for many years are of best quality. (Previously added in *Tang Bencao*)
Minister Yuxi et al. verified according to *Yao Xing Lun*: Wugu Wa can also be used alone. Decocted in water and taken orally, it resolves severe internal heat. Rihua Zi states: It is cold in nature, stops frequent urination, and when decocted into juice and taken orally...
Chen Cangqi: Treats scalds and burns. One should select deep-soil, ancient, and moist triangular tiles. Method for moxibustion for toothache: Find three boys surnamed differently. Wait until the first star appears in the sky, point to this first star, and perform moxibustion using a triangular tile placed beneath the fire.
