今注此物性寒。《本经》云∶利丈夫,不利女子。《别录》云∶久服令阴痿者,于事相反。
按此则疏利男子元气,不疏利女子脏气,其义显矣。臣禹锡等谨按范子云∶雷矢出汉中,

Taste: bitter, salty. Nature: cold, slightly cold. Toxicity: slightly toxic. Main actions: kills three types of parasites (Ascaris lumbricoides, Enterobius vermicularis, Fasciolopsis buski), expels toxic qi, and treats heat in the stomach. Beneficial for men, not beneficial for women. When made into a massage ointment, it removes various ailments in children, expels evil qi, aversion to wind, and sweating; clears heat nodules, accumulations, and gu poison in the skin; and stops the continuous spontaneous discharge of white worms and Taenia solium (pork tapeworm). Long-term use causes impotence in men. Also known as Lei Shi, also known as Lei Shi. The red variety is fatal. Grows in the valleys of Shicheng and in the soil of Hanzhong. Harvested in August, dried in the sun. (Lishi [Arecae Pericarpium], Houpo [Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex] act as guiding herbs; adverse with Gegen [Puerariae Radix].)
Tao Hongjing stated: It is now produced between Jianping and Yidu. The fruits are clustered together like pills. *Shennong Bencao Jing* states: "Beneficial for men." *Mingyi Bielu* states: "Long-term use..." (Text missing here, inferred from context below).
Lei Wan is the sclerotium of bamboo. It has no stems or vines; they grow scattered and unconnected. It is now produced in Fangzhou and Jinzhou.
Current annotations state that this substance is cold in nature. *Shennong Bencao Jing* states: "Beneficial for men, not beneficial for women." *Mingyi Bielu* states: "Long-term use causes impotence," which contradicts reality. Analyzing this, it appears to drain the primordial qi of men but does not drain the viscera qi of women; the principle is clear. Minister Yuxi et al., according to Fanzi, stated: Lei Shi is produced in Hanzhong; the white-colored ones are superior. Wu Shi stated: Lei Wan, Shenneng considered it bitter; Huangdi, Qibo, and Tongjun considered it sweet and toxic; Bianque considered it sweet and non-toxic; Ji Shi considered it greatly cold. *Yaoxing Lun* states: Lei Wan is a sovereign herb, adverse with Xugen [Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix], taste bitter, slightly toxic. It can expel wind. Yuanhua [Genkwa Flos] acts as an assistant herb. It treats epilepsy and manic running, and kills Ascaris lumbricoides. Rihua Zi stated: For medicinal use, it must be processed.
Leigong stated: Generally, soak in licorice water overnight, scrape off the black skin on the surface with a copper knife, break into four or five pieces. Then soak in licorice decoction overnight, steam from Si hour to Wei hour, take out, and dry in the sun. Then mix with wine, steam again from Si hour to Wei hour as before, and dry in the sun for use. Empirical prescription: Expel Taenia solium. Use only Lei Wan. Soak until soft, peel, slice, bake dry, and grind into powder. Whenever a patient suffers, at the beginning of the fifth watch (early morning), first eat a small amount of roasted meat, then take one qianbi of the medicine, mixed with half a qian of thin porridge. During medication, one must avoid the six Ya days and the first half of the lunar month for the worms to be expelled.
