Labor and injury damage the blood and qi, impairing the Chong (Penetrating) Mai (Chong Vessel) and Ren (Conception) Mai (Ren Vessel). The Chong and Ren vessels both originate within the Bao Gong (Uterus) and serve as the Sea of the Twelve Meridians; the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian and the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian are responsible for the downward formation of Yue Shui (Menstrual Blood). If the meridians are damaged and the qi of the Chong and Ren vessels is deficient, failing to constrain menstrual blood, then blood mixes with turbid fluids to form Dai Xia (Leukorrhea). However, all five Zang organs receive blood and qi, and their colors vary according to the specific organ. The color of the Fei Zang (Lung Organ) is white; leukorrhea that is white indicates deficiency and damage to the Lung Organ, hence the presence of white discharge.

The color of the Shen Zang (Kidney Organ) is black; leukorrhea that is black indicates deficiency and damage to the Kidney Organ, hence the presence of black discharge.
The disease of Dai Xia (Leukorrhea) arises from labor and injury damaging the blood and qi, impairing the Chong (Penetrating) Mai (Chong Vessel) and Ren (Conception) Mai (Ren Vessel). The Chong and Ren vessels originate within the Bao Gong (Uterus) and serve as the Sea of the Twelve Meridians. Due to damage to the Jing Xue (Meridianal Blood), blood mixes with turbid fluids to form Dai Xia (Leukorrhea). The discharge of Dai Xia leads to Zang deficiency, making the body susceptible to invasion by Wind-Cold pathogens. These pathogens enter and damage the Hand-Taiyang and Hand-Shaoyin meridians, resulting in Bu Li (Difficult Menstruation). This occurs because the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian belongs to the Fu (Yang) organs and governs the exterior, while the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian belongs to the Zang (Yin) organs and governs the interior. Together, these two meridians transform meridianal blood upward into Ru Zhi (Breast Milk) and downward into Yue Shui (Menstrual Blood); blood nature becomes stagnant when exposed to cold. Having been invaded by wind-cold, the Dai Xia (Leukorrhea) is accompanied by blood stagnation, thus causing difficult menstruation.

The discharge of Dai Xia leads to Zang deficiency, making the body susceptible to invasion by Wind-Cold pathogens. These pathogens enter and damage the Hand-Taiyang and Hand-Shaoyin meridians, resulting in Yue Shui Bu Tong (Amenorrhea/Menstrual Obstruction). This occurs because the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian belongs to the Fu (Yang) organs and governs the exterior; the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian belongs to the Zang (Yin) organs and governs the interior. Together, these two meridians transform meridianal blood upward into Ru Zhi (Breast Milk) and downward into Yue Shui (Menstrual Blood); blood nature becomes stagnant when exposed to cold. Having been invaded by wind-cold, cold qi accumulates, causing blood coagulation and obstruction, thus leading to Dai Xia (Leukorrhea) and amenorrhea. Whenever there is amenorrhea, blood coagulation forms accumulations, eventually transforming into Xue Jia (Blood Masses). Xue Jia (Blood Masses) can also manifest as facial edema.
