Angelicae Sinensis Radix (1 qian), Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) (1 qian), Myrrha (5 fen), Tiger Bone (1 qian), Ai Jiao Zhang (Cinnamomum camphora variety) (1 qian), Di Nan She (Akebiae Caulis or similar vine) (1 qian), Acanthopanacis Cortex (1 qian), Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (1 qian), Chaenomelis Fructus (1 qian), Angelicae Pubescentis Radix (8 fen), Solani Lycopersici Caulis et Folium (Qie Gen) (1 qian).
Decoct with wine.
Jiegu Dan (Bone-Setting Pill/Powder)
Angelicae Sinensis Radix (2 qian, raw, ground into powder), Chuan Wu (Aconiti Radix) (1 liang, soaked in ginger juice and stir-fried), Cao Wu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix) (7 qian, soaked in ginger juice and stir-fried), Duan Gu Pi (Dipsaci Radix) (1 liang, raw, ground into powder), He Shou Wu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix) (1 liang 5 qian, soaked in black bean water, sun-dried, ground into powder, beans removed), Bu Gu Zhi (Psoraleae Fructus) (5 qian), Xiao Hui Xiang (Foeniculi Fructus) (5 qian).
Decoct with water and soak overnight. Remove Bu Gu Zhi, sun-dry, and grind into powder. Discard Xiao Hui Xiang and Yang Tao Hua (Datura Metel Flower). Wash the remaining ingredients with licorice water, dry in shade, and grind into powder (2 qian); do not use the licorice residue. Grind the seven aforementioned herbs into powder. Whenever there is an injury from falling or striking, first manually reduce the dislocated bone to its original position. Then, take 3 fen per dose. For individuals with robust constitutions and severe injuries, the maximum dose is 5 fen; do not exceed this limit under any circumstances. Take with yellow wine, as a single dose.
If the foot is injured, add Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix powder to Jiegu Dan, mix well with good wine, and administer. After taking the medicine, avoid exposure to wind; otherwise, it will be ineffective. Bandage the injured area securely; absolutely do not move it. If moved even slightly, the bone fragments will not unite. After taking the medicine, one may experience dizziness and lethargy in the limbs, and pass yellow stool the next day; do not be afraid, this indicates natural recovery. If the formula lacks the full amount of Yang Tao Hua, substitute with 1 qian of Moschus (She Xiang). However, Moschus should not be pre-mixed into the powder, as prolonged storage diminishes its efficacy, unlike Yang Tao Hua which remains stable when mixed long-term. Weigh out 1 qian 3 fen 5 li of Jiegu Dan, and add 2 li of Moschus just before use. If using a batch of Yang Tao Hua, it is convenient to pre-mix 3 qian according to the quantity. If using Moschus, do not use Yang Tao Hua; these two substances must not be used together.
I have personally witnessed many cures with this formula and prepare it to save lives. It is contraindicated for pregnant women. For chronic, old injuries, take 3 fen daily with good wine, adjusting alcohol intake appropriately. For recent injuries, strict avoidance of movement is required after administration; the recovery period is specified as "one year one day" (Note: This phrase likely contains a textual error or specific local terminology regarding duration, literally translated here). For hand injuries, avoid movement; for foot injuries, avoid walking. After the designated period has passed, restrictions are lifted, but caution must still be exercised.
