When a woman reaches the age of forty-nine (seven times seven), and her menstrual cycle count is exhausted yet menstruation does not cease, this indicates an excess of Qi and Blood. It should not be forcibly stopped. If menstruation has ceased but then resumes, whether due to trauma or blood stasis, differentiation should be based on urgency and pain in the hypochondrium and lower abdomen. The appropriate formula is Siwu Tang (Four Substance Decoction) with added Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra). If the bleeding is too vigorous to stop, Bayi Tang (Eight Ingredient Decoction) with Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae) and Lianzi (Fructus Loranthi) is suitable, but it should not be administered abruptly, as it may damage the Spleen and Stomach.
In elderly women, continuous dripping (referring to leukorrhea or urinary dribbling) occurs because Yang Qi was abundant in childhood and accumulated over time. Menstruation occurring two or three times a month often develops into Benglou (sudden profuse bleeding or prolonged spotting). The main treatment is a large dose of Bayi Tang (Eight Ingredient Decoction).
Continuous, slippery leukorrhea, sometimes resembling leaking roof water, flowing incessantly, stopping and restarting, accompanied by a cold sensation below the umbilicus, is treated with Xiangjiao Aiye Tang (Aromatic Gum and Mugwort Leaf Decoction). If caused by labor injury leading to Qi and Blood deficiency with long-standing dripping, Jiao'ai Tang (Gelatin and Mugwort Leaf Decoction) with fried Puhuang (Pollen Typhae) and Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae) is suitable. If sweating is present, add Huangqi (Radix Astragali); if there is deficiency, add Renshen (Radix Ginseng).
[Xiangjiao Aiye Tang] Dingxiang (Flos Caryophylli), Ejiao (Colla Corii Asini), Aiye (Folium Artemisiae Argyi), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Shudi (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba).
Blood Lin (dysuria with blood) dripping continuously, occurring every three to five days, persisting for a long time without healing, may be due to labor from intercourse during menstruation or due to emotional stagnation. One must observe whether there is lower abdominal pain and whether the Spleen and Stomach are excess or deficient. If injured by sexual labor, invigorate Blood first, then regulate the meridians. If there is lower abdominal pain, treat with Guifu Wan (Guifu Pill); if there is no lower abdominal pain, treat with Neibu Tang (Internal Nourishing Decoction). If Qi is injured, causing chest fullness, confusion, abdominal pain, and Spleen/Stomach deficiency, upper jiao blood stasis is suspected, and stopping bleeding is premature. Treat with Siwu Tang (Four Substance Decoction), Guifu Wan (Guifu Pill), Da Ge San (Da Ge Powder), and Siwu Tang (Four Substance Decoction) plus Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi), and Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), followed by Gongbu Tang (Uterine Nourishing Decoction) and Antai Yin (Fetus-Securing Decoction).
[Neibu Tang] Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), Juhong (Exocarpium Citri Grandis), Fuling (Poria), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae).
[Da Ge San] Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis), Houpo (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis), Sugeng (Caulis Perillae), Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi), Huoxiang (Herba Pogostemonis), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae - *Note: Text says Bai Zhi here, likely typo in source or specific variant, translating as Bai Zhi*), Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), Fuling (Poria), Tusizi (Semen Cuscutae).
[Antai Yin] Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Diyu (Herba Sanguisorbae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Shudi (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Ejiao (Colla Corii Asini), Aiye (Folium Artemisiae Argyi), Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae).
If the abdomen is not painful, the Stomach is solid, and Lin syndrome persists for a long time, treat with Bayi Tang (Eight Ingredient Decoction) plus Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae) and Lianzi (Fructus Loranthi). If appetite is poor, add a little Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) and Zhasha (Fructus Crataegi). Alternatively, use Neibu Tang (Internal Nourishing Decoction) or Gongbu Tang (Uterine Nourishing Decoction). If diarrhea occurs without abdominal pain, treat with Weiling Tang (Stomach-Ling Decoction). If diarrhea occurs with cold abdominal pain, treat with Wuji San (Five Accumulations Powder). If coughing occurs without diarrhea, treat with Er Si Tang (Two Four Decoction). If coughing accompanies diarrhea, treat with Weiling Tang (Stomach-Ling Decoction). Generally, treating Blood Lin requires prioritizing Stomach Qi; thus, regulating the Stomach and strengthening the Spleen is essential. If cough is urgent and Lin is mild, stop the Lin first; do not neglect this.
[Weiling Tang] (Also known as Wuling Pingwei San) Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Fuling (Poria), Zhuling (Poria cum Ramis et Mycelio), Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis), Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Lanceae), Houpo (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens), Dazao (Fructus Jujubae).
[Wuji San] Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi), Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis), Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), Fuling (Poria), Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae), Huoxiang (Herba Pogostemonis), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis), Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae), Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens), Houpo (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Zhiqiao (Fructus Aurantii), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba).
Lin syndrome, though divided into red and white types, is mostly due to deficiency-cold and stagnation. For continuous dripping, use Yangwei Tang (Stomach-Nourishing Decoction) plus Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi). For red type, use Bayi Tang (Eight Ingredient Decoction). For white type, use Aijian Wan (Mugwort Decoction Pill) and Guifu Er Wan (Guifu Two Pills). If Lin involves sand/gravel, distinguish the severity of Qi and Blood deficiency; do not underestimate it. If white Lin turns into yellow fluid, it will transform into Blood Lin. Treat with Aijian Wan (Mugwort Decoction Pill) plus Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba).
[Yangwei Tang] Shengdi (Radix Rehmanniae), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Danpi (Cortex Moutan), Qingpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae Viride), Jianghuang (Rhizoma Curcumae), Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens), Haitongpi (Caulis Sappan), Wujia Pi (Cortex Acanthopanacis).
Bai Zhuo (white turbid discharge) is heat in the Bladder Meridian. If untreated, it may lead to carbuncles and sores. Treat with Qingxin Lianzi Yin (Heart-Clearing Lotus Seed Decoction). If Bai Yin (white seminal emission/leukorrhea without sexual activity) occurs, sometimes suddenly discharging clear white fluid, common among widows and nuns, it is due to stagnant fire. The primary treatment is to descend fire. Some cases result from labor-induced Kidney deficiency, Heart deficiency, or excessive worry. If excessive worry damages the Spleen, treat with Siqi Tang (Four Seven Decoction) and Suojing Wan (Essence-Locking Pill). In severe cases, add Yizhi (Fructus Alpiniae Oxyphyllae) and Yanjian (Salt-fried preparation).
[Qingxin Lianzi Yin] Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Huangqi (Radix Astragali), Fuling (Poria), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Cheqianzi (Semen Plantaginis), Shilianzi (Fructus Nelumbinis), Digupi (Cortex Lycii), Maidong (Radix Ophiopogonis).

[Suojing Wan] Qingyan (Sal), Fuling (Poria), Wuweizi (Fructus Schisandrae), Poguzhi (Semen Psoraleae).
The above four ingredients are ground into powder equally, formed into pills with honey, and taken with light salt water.
