Zhenzhu (Pearl, 2 fen) Hupo (Amber, 3 fen) Ercha (Catechu, 8 fen) Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 fen) Bingpian (Borneol, 1.5 li) Rushi (Milk Stone, 3 fen)
This is a key medicine for treating Hou She Jie Du (toxic sores or masses formed by heat-toxin accumulation in the throat and tongue). First, wrap raw silk cotton around a chopstick, apply it to the affected area, then insufflate this powder. If it is Guang Chuang Jie Du (sores resulting from syphilis or similar venereal diseases), add a small amount of Qingfen (Calomel) to this formula.
Original name: Xian Xian San (Immortal Fresh Powder).
Yan Shi (Salt, 6 fen) Puhuang (Pollen Typhae, 4 fen) Deng Cao Hui (Ash of Juncus Effusus, 3 fen) Di Ru Shi (Dripping Milk Stone, 3 fen) Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, 2 fen) Ercha (Catechu, 5 fen) Bingpian (Borneol, 1 fen)
This is a miraculous agent for treating Xu Huo Hou Xuan (chronic pharyngitis caused by yin deficiency and empty fire, resembling moss on the throat). If there is sui fu (fragmented tissue decay), add Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis), Zhenzhu (Pearl), Hupo (Amber), and Longgu (Fossilized Bones) to this formula. If there is xu fu (weakness-induced ulceration), add Renshen Mo (Ginseng Powder) and Zhi Luganshi (Prepared Calamina) to this formula. If insufflation causes pain, remove Yan Shi (Salt).
Gan Chan Tu (Dried Toad Skin), Chuan Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis, each 2 qian), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, 8 fen), Shexiang (Musk, a little)
This is a key medicine specifically for treating Gan Lan Bi Liang (ulceration of the nasal bridge due to infantile malnutrition/gan syndrome). It is necessary to wipe away pus and filth with silk cotton thoroughly; insufflation will yield immediate results.
Danxing (Arisaema Cum Bile, 3 fen), Ren Zhijia (Human Nail, 2-3 cun), Bingpian (Borneol, 5 li), Zhusha (Cinnabar, a little)
This treats Ru E Cheng Nong Bu Chuan (tonsillar abscess that has formed pus but has not ruptured). Wrap the nails in double-layer red paper, burn them over a lamp flame until charred, preserve their medicinal properties, and grind into powder. Mix with Chen Sha (Cinnabar), Bingpian (Borneol), and Danxing (Arisaema Cum Bile), grind together, and insufflate into the throat. After a short while, pus and blood will discharge, and self-healing will occur.
Zhenzhu (Pearl, 4 fen), Longgu (Fossilized Bones, 3 fen), Bingpian (Borneol, 1.5 li), Xiangpi (Elephant Skin, 4 fen), Ercha (Catechu, 4 fen), Wu Gu (Black Bone, 4 fen), Ruxiang (Olibanum), Moyao (Myrrha), Zhusha (Cinnabar, each 3 fen), Lao Shen (Old Ginseng), Sanqi (Notoginseng Radix, 5 fen), Jiangxiang Jie (Sappanwood Knots, 3 fen)
This is specifically for treating Ya Xuan (gingival recession with loose teeth and bleeding). If bleeding from the gum spaces does not stop, take fresh cotton wool the size of a finger, shape it into a strip, dip it in water, flatten it again, dip it in the medicine, insert it into the affected area, and press firmly with a finger without moving it. Bleeding will stop after one or two applications. If there is fragmented decay, use flesh-regenerating medicines, still employing this formula, along with decoctions, applied according to the patterns of deficiency-empty and excess-fire.
