The starting point of the Spleen Meridian is Yinbai (SP1, Hidden White). Yinbai belongs to Wood. It is located at the medial end of the big toe, approximately the width of a leek leaf away from the corner of the toenail. It is the source point where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian emerges, classified as a Jing-Well point. The needle insertion depth is 0.1 cun; retain the needle for three breaths; moxibustion consists of three moxa cones.
Dadu (SP2, Great Grand) belongs to Fire. It is located in the depression distal to the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe. It is the location where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian flows, classified as a Ying-Spring point. The needle insertion depth is 0.3 cun; retain the needle for seven breaths; moxibustion consists of one moxa cone.
Taibai (SP3, Supreme White) belongs to Earth. It is located in the depression below the medial malleolus (specifically the base of the first metatarsal bone). It is the location where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian pours, classified as a Shu-Stream point. The needle insertion depth is 0.3 cun; retain the needle for seven breaths; moxibustion consists of three moxa cones.
Gongsun (SP4, Grand Son) is located one cun posterior to the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe. It connects with the Yangming Meridian and is the Luo-Connecting point of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. The needle insertion depth is 0.4 cun; retain the needle for twenty breaths; moxibustion consists of three moxa cones.
Shangqiu (SP5, Hill of Commerce) belongs to Metal. It is located in the slight depression anterior and inferior to the medial malleolus. It is the pathway where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian travels, classified as a Jing-River point. The needle insertion depth is 0.3 cun; retain the needle for seven breaths; moxibustion consists of three moxa cones. (Note on *Qi Xue Lun*: Needle insertion depth is 0.4 cun.)
Sanyinjiao (SP6, Three Yin Intersection) is located three cun directly above the tip of the medial malleolus, in the depression behind the tibia. It is the convergence point of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen, Foot-Jueyin Liver, and Foot-Shaoyin Kidney meridians. The needle insertion depth is 0.3 cun; retain the needle for seven breaths; moxibustion consists of three moxa cones.
Lougou (SP7, Leaking Valley) is located six cun directly above the tip of the medial malleolus, in the depression behind the tibia. It is associated with the Luo-Connecting vessel of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. The needle insertion depth is 0.3 cun; retain the needle for seven breaths; moxibustion consists of three moxa cones.
Diji (SP8, Earth Machine), also known as Pi She (Spleen Residence), is the Xi-Cleft point of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. It is located five cun below the knee, in the empty space slightly superior to the previous point. The needle insertion depth is 0.3 cun; moxibustion consists of three moxa cones.
Yinlingquan (SP9, Yin Gathering Spring) belongs to Water. It is located in the depression below the medial condyle of the tibia (accessory bone on the medial side of the knee); it can be located by extending the foot. It is the He-Sea point where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian enters. The needle insertion depth is 0.5 cun; retain the needle for seven breaths; moxibustion consists of three moxa cones.
Xuehai (SP10, Sea of Blood) is located two cun superior to the superomedial border of the patella, at the junction of the white skin. It is the site where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian manifests. The needle insertion depth is 0.5 cun; moxibustion consists of five moxa cones.
Jimen (SP11, Gate of the Basket) is located above the fleshy part of the thigh (adductor magnus region), between two tendons, where an arterial pulse is palpable. It belongs to the interior of the Taiyin and is the site where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian manifests. The needle insertion depth is 0.3 cun; retain the needle for six breaths; moxibustion consists of three moxa cones. (Note on *Su Wen: San Bu Jiu Hou Lun*: Directly below Wuli (ST29), widen the sclera and relax the single garment on the foot; deep palpation is required to locate it, and the arterial pulse should be distinct.)
