Tonification technique: Pause respiration for thirty cycles, then guide Yang Qi to circulate within the abdomen. "Ascending Yang" refers to eliminating heat within the abdomen; subsequently, use Qi to ascend forward. While needling the abdomen, accompany with three exhalations of "Ha".
Inhale while making a soft "he-he" sound through the mouth; upon completion, coolness arises. Cool Yang Qi gathers below the umbilicus, and Yin-cold diseases are alleviated.
Evacuation technique: Pause respiration for fifty-seven cycles. The practitioner counts down seven numbers to promote Yang ascent. Perform Yang ascending twice to move Qi upward; perform three inhalations and three exhalations accompanied by two "Ha" sounds. Women suffering from this condition often have Yin-type pathologies; urgently guiding Qi upward achieves cooling. If there is evil Qi in the upper Yin region, descending it combined with Yin-ascending techniques brings health.
Nasal disorders present various symptoms. Treatments include:
1. Shenting (GV24) acupoint: Use trembling lifting and thrusting method for cure.
2. Yingxiang (LI20) bilateral acupoints: Use Yin-ascending method to open both Qi pathways, combined with lifting and rubbing techniques.
3. Zusanli (ST36) bilateral acupoints: Use one Yang-ascending manipulation, followed by guiding Yang Qi downward laterally.
4. On the next day, needle Zusanli again for downward Qi flow; first guide Qi downward at Sanyinjiao (SP6).
Bad breath with increased heat sensation: Prick Jinjin (EX-HN12) in the mouth. This point of the Heart Meridian is used to descend Qi; points on the Kidney Meridian are used to stabilize and balance Qi.
Inability to open eyes is most distressing. Lifting and thrusting at Jingming (BL1) gradually dissipates blood stasis. For distending pain in the eyeballs, treat Hegu (LI4). Perform Yin-ascending manipulation on Zusanli (ST36) one or two times. Add bleeding therapy at Taichong (LR3). When Zusanli Qi descends, needle until Deqi (arrival of Qi) feels stagnant. If toxic blood is released from Taichong, recovery is swift as if seeing the clear sky.
Redness and swelling of the eyes: Evacuate blood. After evacuating blood, apply rubbing and massaging. Bleeding from the Taiyang channel is truly miraculous. After Zusanli ascends Yang, Qi descends to harmonize. Further evacuate at Gukong (extra point near eye), using multiple lifting and thrusting evacuation methods. Apply rubbing when appropriate. At Cuanzhu (BL2), use lifting and thrusting tonification three times. Coordination of these points above and below ensures patient comfort.
Qi deficiency causing obstruction: Attack with downward-moving Qi. Zusanli (ST36) and Zhaohai (KI6) facilitate downward Qi flow. If abdominal borborygmus occurs, descend Yin quickly; use ascending Yang method to regulate the Middle Jiao. Three days later, needle Zhongwan (CV12). Use "pan-disk seven grasps" technique to empty Qihai (CV6). Needle Zusanli again to take Qi downward. Evacuate blood from Neiting (ST44) to remove the disease trace.
Nine types of heartache extending to spleen pain: Upper Wan (CV13) pan-needle restricts in the middle. Qihai (CV6) uses pan-disk technique above. Guanyuan (CV4) double-pan resonant technique. Daling (PC7) uses Yang-ascending method. Zusanli (ST36) ascends Yang so Qi flows downward. All needling must remove heat qi. Skin elevation indicates a skilled practitioner.
Pain between eyebrows relieved by rubbing. Lifting and thrusting at Cuanzhu (BL2) immediately followed by another lift. For blurred vision, use Yang-ascending method. Both conditions respond uniquely to Yang ascending. After ascending Yang, apply blood-evacuation method. Lift until skin rises, then pause respiration. At Yintang (EX-HN3), lifting, thrusting, and rubbing with heavy tonification. Hegu (LI4) ascending Yang relieves pain appropriately.
