Shun yao (smooth shaking), duo ti (frequent lifting), and zai yao (repeated shaking) involve a larger number of manipulations; it is appropriate to use the heng yao (horizontal shaking) method four times for a harmonious effect. Add cuo (rubbing) and ti she (lifting and grasping) techniques, repeating five to seven times; search out the tremor sensation, lift the needle, and apply yao (shaking) and mo (stroking) methods. If the patient complains of abdominal distension and urgent defecation, needle above or below the point, regulate Qi using kai qi (opening Qi) and cuo (rubbing); if the needle feels tight and immobile, employ ti an (lifting and pressing); shake smoothly dozens of times to harmonize.
Lian ti (continuous lifting) combined with zhan (tremor) follows specific timing methods. At Dan xue (Dan Point), slight xun an (circular pressing) allows she na (grasping) Qi to flow naturally. Heavy she produces sound; heavy an causes Qi circulation, alleviating the disease.
To promote urination, needle Dan Tian (Elixir Field). When Qi from the San Yin (Three Yin) meridians rises and Yang Qi descends, recovery occurs. Add Da pan she (large plate grasping) at Dan Tian; first raise Yin from San Yin and Er Xue (Two Points). After raising Yin, apply Qi Xia (Qi Descending) method; bladder distension resolves spontaneously. If distension and urinary difficulty persist, use Sheng Ti (lifting) method; continuous application leads to spontaneous urination.
Sudden aphonia arises from abnormal generation of Sheng Yang (Generating Yang). Even when Qi rebels upward and generates Yang, excessive Qi in the Lung requires Gua Qu (scraping to extract) method. Apply Qi Xia method again before needling for good results. Re-needle Zu San Li (Leg Three Miles) using Sheng Yang Fa (Generating Yang Method); Qi descending and Yin rising increases tonification. Then prick Shao Shang (Lesser Shang) to release toxic blood; aphonia will not hinder harmony.
For ear disorders, use Wei Zhong (Weaver's Crook) Sheng Yang method, then apply Qi Shang (Qi Ascending) to guide Qi to the ear. For cicada-like tinnitus, select Ting Hui (Auditory Meeting); use Cuo (rubbing) and Tan (plucking) to attack Qi downward. Zu San Li harmonizes Qi ascending to the head; Yi Feng (Wind Screen) points possess spiritual efficacy. Wei Zhong uses Qi Xia Sheng Yin (Qi Descending Generating Yin) method; ear symptoms clear naturally according to these methods.
Severe wandering pain in the abdomen: needle Zhong Wan (Middle Elixir) with Yuan Pan Cuo (plate-shaped rubbing). Qi Hai (Sea of Qi) uses Sheng Yang method, located above Zhong Wan; add Cuo method while focusing intention in the Heart. Second time at Zhong Wan, use She Pan Xia (grasp plate downward) method; Qi Hai Sheng Yang produces several sounds. Take Zu San Li and Zhao Hai (Light Sea) using Xia Qu (descending extraction) method; wandering Qi pain is removed immediately, evident in the needle sensation.
Bloodletting involves three presses and three tonifications. After three additional tonifications, prohibit seven plucks. If bright bleeding appears, apply three more tonifications; after seven plucks, rapidly withdraw the needle. Deficient persons must not bleed; excess persons benefit greatly from bleeding. When Yin Qi descends, do not take blood; plucking this blood cuts off this Yin pathogen.
For lower back pain and stiff legs, urgently apply Sheng Yang method. Wei Zhong Sheng Yang followed by another Sheng Yang. After three Sheng Yang manipulations, pause until exhalation ends; then use Cuo (rubbing) to extract heat for recovery. Bloodletting at Wei Zhong is often excellent; follow with Sheng Yin (Generating Yin) and rapid Cuo Tan (rubbing and plucking). Deficient persons avoid bloodletting; excess persons find pain relieved by bleeding.
For redness and swelling on the dorsum of the hand, quickly apply Sheng Yang method. Bloodletting at Ye Men (Liquid Gate) requires detailed Bu An (tonifying pressing). Ascending Qi makes Yang Qi descend; Tong Li (connecting principles) Cuo Mo (rubbing and stroking) disperses Qi. If Qi is sufficient, use San Bu (three tonifications); rapidly pluck three times for strong needle withdrawal. If redness and swelling persist, Sheng Yin (Generating Yin) with heavy lifting and Xie (draining) is superior.
