Brain Kong (Naokong, GB17), Shao Yang (Qiaoyin, GB11) govern the severe nasal condition (Li Bi) resulting from the outbreak of nasal duct carbuncle (Bi Guan Ju). (From *Qian Jin Fang*). Fuliu (KI7) governs salivation and pain in the nose. Juliao (ST3) treats facial swelling and obstructive pain on the upper nose caused by wind-cold invasion. (From *Tong Ren Shu*). Ganshu (BL18) governs a sour sensation in the nose. (From *Qian Jin Fang*). Yinjiao (DU28) governs pain in the forehead region. (See *Rou Zheng* chapter). Juliao (ST3) treats swelling and carbuncle pain on the tip of the nose. (See *Kou Bing* chapter). For epistaxis caused by "Ghost Strike" (Gui Ji), moxibustion is applied to Renzhong (GV26) and Shuifen (CV9). Yinjiao (CV7). (See *Gui Ji* chapter).
Shenting (GV24) and other points govern Nose Qi (Biu, allergic rhinitis-like symptoms with sneezing and clear discharge). (*Qian Jin Fang* note: excessive nasal mucus). Qucha (EX-HN4) and other points govern Biu and Epistaxis accompanied by sores. (See *Bi Sai* chapter). Chengling (GB19) (Same as *Tong Ren*), Fengchi (GB20), Fengmen (BL12), [Missing Character], Houxi (SI3) govern Epistaxis causing nasal obstruction, panting, and inability to breathe smoothly. Zhongwan (CV12), Sanjian (LI3), Pianli (SI6), Lidui (ST45), Chengjin (BL56) (Same as *Tong Ren*), Jinggu (BL64), Kunlun (BL60), Chengshan (BL57), Feiyang (BL58), Yinbai (SP1) govern Head Heat, Biu, and Epistaxis. Jinggu (BL64) (Same as *Tong Ren*), Shenmai (BL62) govern persistent Epistaxis accompanied by weakness in the legs and knees (Yin Luo). Shuigou (GV26), Tianyou (TE16) govern Nose Qi causing respiratory difficulty, as well as persistent Epistaxis. (From *Jia Yi Jing*). Tianfu (LU3) treats persistent Epistaxis. Needle depth: 4 fen. (*Tong Ren*). Shangxing (GV23), Houxi (SI3), Fengfu (GV16) [Text says Feng Ya Men, likely error for Fengfu or related Yang meridian point], treat persistent Epistaxis caused by excess heat in the Yang meridians. Tongtian (BL3) treats Epistaxis with heavy head sensation. Heliao (LI18), Duanduan (GV26), Laogong (PC8) treat Epistaxis. Ququan (LR8), Yinbai (SP1), [Missing Character] (See Shoulder and Back Pain chapter), Yingu (LR10), Yingxiang (LI20) treat Epistaxis. (See *Rou Zheng* chapter). Moxibustion: 50 moxa cones on Shangxing (GV23). (From *Ji Xiao Fang*). Xu De Zhan taught that for Epistaxis, urgently moxibustion three cones at the depression between the two tendons behind the hairline of the nape. This stops it immediately. Because blood enters the brain from here and pours into the nose. Ordinary people can stop Epistaxis by tying cotton around the back of the neck; this moxibustion method is undoubtedly effective. (From *Liang Fang*). Brain Epistaxis: Moxibustion 50 cones on Shangxing (GV23). (*Qian Jin Fang* note: See Hemoptysis chapter).
My mother suddenly suffered from Epistaxis. I urgently fetched medicine for her to take. All prescriptions that were effective for others in the past proved ineffective. Therefore, I consulted the *Ji Xiao Fang* (Originally from *Qian Jin Fang*), which states that unceasing bleeding from the mouth and nose is named "Brain Epistaxis," and one should moxibustion 50 cones on Shangxing. At that time, I still doubted that excessive moxibustion on the head was advisable, so I only performed seven cones and stopped. The next day, the bleeding recurred. I then performed fourteen more cones, and she recovered. Someone whose nose frequently oozed pus and blood was cured when I instructed them to moxibustion Xinhui (GV22). Thus, we know that Xinhui and Shangxing both treat Epistaxis.
For Epistaxis and similar conditions, moxibustion Jieguxue (Gongsun, SP4 / Gallbladder 39? Context suggests GB39 Xiaoxu or SP4 Gongsun, but text says Jiegu which usually refers to GB39 or SP4 depending on era, here likely referring to a specific point for stopping bleeding, often associated with Xiyan or similar, but strictly translating "Jiegu"): Moxibustion Jiegu. (*Qian Jin Fang* note: See Shang Qi chapter). Qiangu (SI2) treats Epistaxis. (*Tong Ren* note: See Cough chapter). [Missing Character] treats Warm Malaria, shoulder and back pain, dizziness and Epistaxis, panting and rebellion, abdominal distension, pain on the inner aspect of the shoulder and arm, inability to bend or extend. Fengmen (BL12) treats Nose Qi (See Shang Han chapter). When Epistaxis is accompanied by itching, moxibustion ten cones in the hair tuft at the transverse crease of the big toe joint; for severe cases, 100 cones. Mothiscuation if Epistaxis does not stop. It also treats scrotal swelling. (*Qian Jin Fang*). Also moxibustion Fengfu (GV16) one point, four cones; if it does not stop, moxibustion again. Or moxibustion Yongquan (KI1), each 100 cones.
