Some people develop Ding sores (Ding sores, a type of acute suppurative infection), experiencing sudden and unbearable pain. This is Yang toxicity (Yang-type toxic pathogen) rather than Yin toxicity. However, it is most difficult to distinguish at the initial stage. A common folk method involves having the patient chew raw soybeans; if a pungent, raw taste is perceived, it indicates a Ding sore, which serves as the key to syndrome differentiation. The head of the sore must present as a yellow blister or exhibit a purple-black color. One must also carefully observe within the blister, where there will invariably be a red-and-white line extending from inside the blister to the outside. Generally speaking, if the Ding sore is located on the foot, the red line enters from the foot towards the umbilicus; if on the hand, the red line enters from the hand towards the heart; if on the lips, the red line travels from the lips towards the throat. If this red line is seen protruding, one should use a needle to prick the blood at the location of the red line to release the toxic blood, thereby preventing the toxin from attacking the heart. If a white thread-like line appears instead, pricking is unnecessary. The treatment principle generally focuses on clearing heat and detoxifying (clearing heat and eliminating toxins). The formula used is Baling San (Dredge Ding Powder): Zihuadiding (Viola Yedoensis Herba, 1 liang) and Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos, 1 liang). Decoct in water and take orally. After one dose, the red line disappears; after two doses, the Ding toxin dissipates; after three doses, recovery is achieved. If the sore has already ulcerated, this same formula is used, but with the addition of Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 2 liang). Recovery occurs without needing four doses, as new flesh grows once the toxin is cleared.
Secret Formula:
The formula named Baling contains only two ingredients, Zihuadiding and Juhua each weighed one liang.
If the toxin is in its early stage, take three doses; if ulcerated, add two liang of Danggui.
Using Sanding San (Scatter Ding Powder) for this condition is also excellent: Xiakucao (Prunellae Spica, 1 liang), Zihuadiding (Viola Yedoensis Herba, 1 liang), and Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum, 3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally; it resolves after one dose.
Secret Formula:
Sanding San is also effective; calculate Xiakucao and Zihuadiding at one liang each.
Lianqiao at three qian resolves it in one dose; why bother taking three doses?
When a Ding sore develops on the lips, beside the corners of the mouth, or between the upper and lower lips, regardless of its size, it is caused by fire-toxin in the Spleen and Stomach. It is best to disperse it quickly; otherwise, the toxic qi becomes blazingly intense, making eating difficult, and death may occur due to rotting. However, the smaller the Ding sore, the more rampant its toxicity. The treatment method should urgently purge fire-toxin without damaging the Qi of the Spleen and Stomach, so that the toxin can be easily dispersed. The formula used is Jiulun Tang (Save Lips Decoction): Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos, 1 liang), Diding (Viola Yedoensis Herba, 1 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 3 qian), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, 3 qian), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 1 qian), and Baiguo (Ginkgo Semen, 21 pieces). Decoct in water and take orally. Pain stops after one dose, the sore opening subsides after two doses, and recovery is achieved in three doses. For non-ulcerated cases, four doses are needed; for ulcerated cases, five doses complete the cure. This formula is effective for Ding sores on the head and face, and is particularly miraculous for Ding sores on the lips. Baiguo (Ginkgo Semen) and Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) have a strong affinity for the lips, guiding Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) and Diding (Viola Yedoensis Herba) to the site of the sore, thereby completely resolving the toxin.
Secret Formula:
Jiulun Tang treats lip Ding sores; use one liang each of Jinyinhua and Diding, plus Gancao and Jiegeng.
Zhimu at one qian and twenty-one Baiguo; four doses for non-ulcerated, five doses for ulcerated achieve success.
Using Hulun Tang (Protect Lips Decoction) for this condition is also effective: Diding (Viola Yedoensis Herba, 1 liang), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, 1 liang), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, 1 liang), Xiakucao (Prunellae Spica, 1 liang), and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally; efficacy is seen after two doses.
Secret Formula:
There is also Liaochun Huchen Tang (Treat Lips Protect Mouth Decoction); Diding, Maidong, Xuanshen, and Xiakucao each at one liang.
Add three qian of raw Gancao; taking it for two doses yields extraordinary results.
