*Shihua Cai* (Stone Flower Vegetable): Sweet and salty in taste, extremely cold and slippery in nature. Persons with cold accumulation will suffer abdominal pain if they eat it. Excessive consumption weakens yang and induces deficiency-cold in the lower body.
*Zicai* (Laver/Seaweed): Sweet and salty in taste, cold in nature. Excessive consumption causes qi stagnation and abdominal pain; persons with cold accumulation may vomit white foam. Drinking a small amount of hot vinegar can resolve this. Care must be taken to remove small snails, which are harmful; the vegetable must be picked clean. This applies to all sea vegetables. *Shihua* (a type of seaweed resembling laver but green): Sweet in taste, neutral in nature. All sea vegetables are contraindicated with Licorice Root (*Gancao*).
*Kaidai* (Kelp): Sweet and salty in taste, cold and slippery in nature. It should not be eaten with Licorice Root (*Gancao*).
*Haitai* (Sea Moss/Laver): Sweet and salty in taste, cold in nature. Excessive consumption induces sores and scabies, causing sallow complexion and blood deficiency.

Eating it with honey, sparrow meat, chicken meat, chicken eggs, duck meat, or ducks damages the five zang organs. Eating it with fermented grain water (*Jiangshui*) causes cholera-like disorder. Do not eat with elk or deer meat. Plums that taste bitter and astringent should not be eaten. Plums that do not sink in water are toxic and should not be eaten. Persons taking Atractylodes (*Zhu*) should avoid them. Pregnant women consuming plums may give birth to children with sores and scabies.
*Xing Zi* (Apricot): Sweet and sour in taste, hot in nature, with slight toxicity. It offers no benefit. Excessive raw consumption injures sinews and bones. Excessive consumption clouds the spirit, causes heat in the diaphragm and phlegm generation, aggravates chronic diseases, induces carbuncles and sores, and causes loss of eyebrows and beard. Excessive consumption by those with eye diseases leads to blindness. In children, it causes stagnant heat and boils. Postpartum women should strictly avoid it. *Xing Ren* (Apricot Seed): Sweet and bitter in taste, warm in nature, with slight toxicity. Double-kernel seeds are fatal. Apricot flowers have six petals, and the kernel invariably has two kernels. If apricot seed soup does not clear its white foam after boiling, consuming it causes qi stagnation and body heat. Soup left overnight induces cold qi and can digest dog meat and rice noodle accumulations. Accidental ingestion of double-kernel seeds or excessive consumption causes delirium and near-death states. Immediately decoct apricot roots to drink as an antidote. *Badan Xing Ren*: Sweet in taste, warm in nature; excessive consumption also aggravates chronic diseases.
*Tao Zi* (Peach): Sweet and sour in taste, warm in nature, with slight toxicity. Excessive consumption damages the spleen, aids heat, causes distension, and induces sores and boils. Raw peaches are particularly damaging, offering harm without benefit. Among the five fruits, peach is ranked lowest; persons taking Atractylodes (*Zhu*) should avoid it. *Tao Ren* (Peach Seed): Sweet and bitter in taste, neutral in nature. Double-kernel seeds are toxic and should be removed. Avoid thousand-petaled peach blossoms, as they cause yellow eyes and uncontrolled epistaxis.
*Li Zi* (Chestnut): Sweet and salty in taste, warm in nature. Raw consumption obstructs qi; steamed or roasted hot consumption stagnates qi. Chestnut powder is superior to water chestnuts and euryale seeds for consumption. However, feeding it to infants prevents tooth eruption. Persons with wind diseases or edema should avoid it. Children should not eat too much: raw is hard to digest, cooked stagnates qi, diaphragmatic heat generates worms, often leading to disease. Do not eat with beef. To prevent popping during roasting, bite one chestnut secretly, dip in sesame oil, and mix with others. Chestnuts naturally split from the husk can be stored in moist sand; they remain fresh into early summer. Those fallen before the husk opens cannot be stored long and rot easily.

Unripe red persimmons can be preserved for about a year by soaking in cold salt water, though salt-preserved ones have slight toxicity.
*Mei Zi* (Plum/Japanese Plum): Sour in taste, neutral in nature. Excessive consumption damages teeth and sinews, corrodes the spleen and stomach, and causes phlegm-heat in the upper diaphragm. Persons taking *Huangjing* (Polygonatum) should avoid it. Do not eat with pork, mutton, elk, or deer meat. Toothache after eating plums can be relieved by chewing walnut meat. Eating plum with *Shao Fen* does not make it sour or soften teeth. *Wu Mei* (Smoked Plum): Warm in nature; contraindicated with pork. *Bai Mei* (White Plum) has the same function as *Wu Mei*. *Anxiang Tang*: Take half-opened plum blossoms, seal the flower mouth with melted wax, place in a honey jar. Decocting plum leaves to wash moldy clothes removes mold effectively.

Rounder and larger than *Nai*, with a more fragrant and delicious taste.
*Lin Qin*: Sweet and sour in taste, warm in nature. Commonly known as *Hua Hong*. Excessive consumption weakens the meridians, causes heat and phlegm, stagnates qi, induces sores, and increases salivation. Eating its seeds causes mental restlessness. Hairy caterpillars on Lin Qin trees can be controlled by burying silkworm pupae underneath or watering with fish-washing water.

Burying a mouse under an orange tree doubles fruit yield.
*Gan Zi* (Citrus reticulata var.): Sweet in taste, cold in nature. Leaves boiled with old goose become tender easily.
*Yinxing* (Ginkgo/Nut): Sweet, bitter, and astringent in taste, warm in nature, with slight toxicity. Also known as *Baiguo*.
