Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui, 当归) and Rhizoma Pinelliae (Banxia, 半夏) each five qian, Radix Dichroae (Changshan, 常山) and Semen Arecae (Binglang, 槟榔) each two and a half qian, Fructus Jujubae (Hongzao, 红枣) half jin (pitted), good wine one jin, well water one jin, decocted together.
Another prescription: Herba Artemisiae Annuae (Qinghao, 青蒿) two liang, decocted in flowing water for oral administration. For malaria caused by latent summerheat in the Liver persisting for one to two years, a single dose will stop the attacks.
Radix Ginseng (Renshen, 人参) five qian, Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens (Shengjiang, 生姜) five qian, two bowls of water, decocted to one bowl, exposed overnight, taken warm at the fifth watch (5-7 AM) the next day; the attack stops on the same day. For those unable to use Ginseng, use Radix Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Baizhu, 白术) one liang and Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens (Shengjiang, 生姜) one liang, decocted as before; two doses will stop the attacks. Pingmie Yangpi Wan (Malaria-Pacifying Spleen-Nourishing Pill) mentioned earlier is also effective.
Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum (Ganjiang, 干姜) five qian, Radix Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Baizhu, 白术) three qian, decocted and taken orally; the disease is cured.
Another prescription: Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄) three qian, powdered. Take one fresh Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum (Guiban, 龟板), remove the edges, place it on fire, slowly sprinkle the Realgar powder onto the turtle shell, burn until black, cover with a bowl to preserve its nature, take out and powder, administer with wine, cover with thick blankets to induce sweating for cure.
Radix Dichroae (Changshan, 常山) and Rhizoma Coptidis (Huanglian, 黄连) each five qian, soak in one jin of wine overnight, boil in a clay pot to seven-tenths full, drink half early on the day of the attack, and the other half when the attack occurs; cure follows either vomiting or diarrhea.
