This condition is divided into Yin Jaundice and Yang Jaundice. If the Yellow Wax Formula proves ineffective, it indicates Yang Jaundice; treating it with the Man Tian Xing (Full Sky Star) Formula will invariably lead to recovery.
Jaundice, Grain Jaundice, Wine Jaundice, Female Jaundice, and Labor Jaundice constitute these five types. The symptoms include a body yellow as gold, possibly accompanied by swelling and vomiting, or yellowing of the eyes and sclera.
Urgently take thin straw paper, roll it around a pen tube to form a shape similar to a firecracker, and tightly seal one end with paper. Melt Huang La (Yellow Wax) in a copper vessel and pour the melted wax evenly around the exterior of the paper tube, ensuring no wax enters the interior. Have the patient lie supine, place the wax tube over the umbilicus with the sealed end facing downward. Then, use flour ash to form a ring protecting the base of the tube to prevent it from tipping over or leaking air. Ignite the open end of the tube and burn until the flame reaches the ash ring at the base, then remove it. Replace with another tube and continue burning. Observe if yellow fluid resembling egg yolk flows from the umbilicus; if so, remove the tube. For mild cases, burn seven or eight tubes; for severe cases, dozens. Apply twice daily, continuing until all yellow fluid is extracted. A case of jaundice presented with a golden-yellow complexion, generalized edema, and immediate vomiting upon ingestion of food, unresponsive to various medicines. Treating according to this method resulted in complete recovery within three days. This is truly an immortal prescription; cherish and preserve it.
Another formula: Cang Er Zi (Xanthium Fruit), Bo He (Mint), Mu Tong (Akebia Stem), and Mian Yin Chen (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba) each 3 qian. Decoct these herbs in aged wine to obtain one bowl of liquid. Separately, prepare 3 qian of stir-fried Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus Rotundus) powder and take it by mixing it into the decoction. If urine is dark red like blood, add 1 qian of Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) to the decoction for miraculous efficacy. This is a formula from Lin Wu Shan Ren.
Yet another formula: Grind Ku Ding Xiang (Gardenia Fruit) into fine powder. Administer intranasally once. When yellow fluid flows from the nose, stop administration. Repeat the procedure after three days for complete recovery.
Yet another formula: Man Tian Xing (Full Sky Star) [characterized by small, smooth leaves, often growing in flower pots and under steps], wash thoroughly including roots. Use approximately half a tea cup amount, crush into a paste, and boil with several taels of pork meat for consumption.
Yet another formula: First, place 1 fen of She Xiang (Moschus) inside the umbilicus. Then, take a toad with yellowish skin, split it open, and apply the whole toad, including internal organs, onto the umbilicus. Bind securely with cloth for several days until healed. Pregnant women should not use Moschus.
Yet another formula: Boil fresh Mao Gen Cao (Imperatae Rhizoma) with pork meat and consume. Recovery occurs after several doses.
Yet another formula: Extract juice from Shui Qin (Oenanthe javanica) and drink, or cook and eat, or consume raw. Frequent consumption yields excellent results.
