[Method for Reconstructing the Lip] Take one qian of calcined frankincense (Ruxiang), calcined myrrh (Moyao), angelica dahurica (Baizhi), red halloysite (Chishizhi), catechu (Ercha), dragon bone (Longgu), owl bone (Maotougu), and Chinese gall (Wubeizi). Grind them together into a fine powder.
Alternatively, take three qian each of dragon bone (Longgu), frankincense (Ruxiang), myrrh (Moyao), bletilla striata (Baiji), white clematis root (Bailian), clam shell (Wenge), coptis chinensis (Huanglian), and phellodendron bark (Huangbo), add a small amount of musk (Shexiang), and mix with human milk for external application. First, apply an analgesic to the defect for one quarter-hour (ke). Then, use bamboo splints to clamp both sides of the lip margin. Use a sharp knife to shave off the thin skin. Align two embroidery needles vertically and fix them in place. Tie tightly with thread. Apply the powder externally. After three to four days, the flesh will grow firmly. Remove the needles, sprinkle medicine into the needle holes, and the wound will heal. For fresh wounds, no analgesic is needed; remove the epidermis and apply medicine according to this method for immediate effect.
[General Discussion on Traumatic Tetanus] Knife wounds may seem easy but are actually difficult to treat. If tendons are severed and the abdomen is ruptured, with only skin connecting the bones, or if arrowheads penetrate into the bone or break within the flesh, or if wind pathogen invades after injury, such conditions are best treated by skilled physicians. If the skin laceration is long, use a fine needle to slowly approximate the fresh edges of the wound, secure with the needle, and apply medicine internally and externally. Do not cover with plaster, as it may cause blood stasis to turn into pus and lead to tissue rot and difficulty in healing. If dryness and pain occur, wipe with pig oil or sesame oil. If the abdomen is ruptured and intestines eviscerate, have the patient lie flat in a wind-sheltered place. Apply oil around the wound margins and gently push the intestines back into the abdominal cavity. Suture the skin with medicinal thread, then apply dressing. The patient must not turn over for three days until the medicinal qi circulates and pain subsides. If arrowheads are broken between bone and flesh, administer an analgesic to eliminate pain so that forceps can be used for extraction. If small splinters cannot be removed, apply Heibao San to facilitate expulsion. If finger joints or articular bones are injured and deviated, or if they are bent along with the skin, realignment must be performed immediately at the time of injury; once ulceration occurs, correction is impossible. Dressings and bandages must be applied carefully to prevent adhesion and subsequent suppuration. For elderly, weak, emaciated patients who cannot endure pain, saving life is paramount, and cosmetic reconstruction is not mandatory. For injuries on the head or at acupoints where bleeding is profuse, hemostatic medicines must be prepared in advance. Upon inspection, any foreign bodies such as bone fragments or hair must be completely removed. Apply medicine promptly and cover with Yuzhen San to prevent wind invasion. For necrotic tissue, use astringent medicines. If granulation tissue fills the wound but fails to scab, or if small pores leak pus without healing, there are likely foreign bodies like bone fragments, thorns, or hair entangling the new tissue. Insert Wujin Gao or Sanpin Ding to open healthy tissue, carefully inspect and remove the foreign bodies, and then the wound can close and scab. This method is also used for carbuncles or internal abscesses. In cases of severed throat involving the internal larynx where food and drink cannot pass, treatment is difficult. First, sprinkle Xuejie powder around the inner throat, ensuring it does not enter the trachea. Suture the outer skin with mulberry fiber thread. Cover with Fengliu San, apply Buxue Gao, ensure the area is sealed tightly to prevent air leakage. Internally administer Shenzhu Yin to restore Yuan Qi, along with herbs to regulate Qi and Blood, leading to natural recovery.
Yuzhen San: Equal parts of Arisaema cum Bile (Nanxing), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Gastrodia Rhizome (Tianma), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo), and Aconitum Bulb (Baifuzi). Grind into powder. Apply externally to protect against wind, or mix with water and take 2 qian orally.
Fengliu San: Four liang of Dalbergia Odorifera Lignum (Xiangjiejie), two tael five qian of Dragon's Blood (Xuejie), two liang of Sappan Wood (Sumu), five qian of Frankincense (Ruxiang), three qian of Myrrh (Moyao), two qian of Dragon Bone (Longgu), one qian of Safflower (Honghua), a little Platycodon Root (Jiegeng), one bundle of Centipeda Herb (Dengxin), and ten eggs from which chicks have hatched (boiled with feathers in vinegar, sealed with yellow mud, and roasted over mild fire). Grind each into fine powder...
