Amomum fruit (Shaoren) in any quantity is placed in an iron pot for heating, stir-fried over slow fire until thoroughly heated. The fibrous membrane is removed, and the material is ground into powder. Each dose is two qian (approx. 7.5g), taken with hot wine to bring immediate relief. This method is extremely effective.
"Tai Lou" (Fetal Leakage) refers to vaginal bleeding occurring during pregnancy. In women, blood transforms into milk when located superiorly, and into menstruation when located inferiorly. Upon conception, both milk and menstruation cease, and blood gathers in the uterus to nourish the fetus. Current fetal leakage with bleeding indicates deficiency of Qi and Blood, heat in the uterus, and instability of the lower origin. It is appropriate to use Ta Dangshen (Codonopsis), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Guishen (Angelica Sinensis Root), Chishao (Red Peony Root), Shudi (Rehmannia Root Prepared with Wine), Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin), Aiye (Mugwort Leaf), Tiao Qin (Scutellariae Radix - strip form), and Zhigancao (Licorice Root Prepared with Honey) in equal parts. Add fresh ginger and Chinese jujube as guides, decoct in water, and take well after meals. Additionally, use Duzhong Wan.
Duzhong Wan: Duzhong (Eucommia Bark prepared with ginger juice) and Chuanxuduan (Drynaria Rhizome prepared with wine) each two liang (approx. 60g). Grind together into powder, mix with date flesh paste, and form pills the size of a wu zi (wu seed). Take an appropriate amount per dose.
Hulian Wan: A sacred medicine for calming the fetus. Tiao Qin (Scutellariae Radix) four liang (preferably those that sink in water), Baizhu (without oil) four liang, Lianrou (Lotus Seed without heart) two liang...
A large handful of scallion heads, approximately 20-30 roots, decocted in water and taken orally, stops bleeding immediately with miraculous effect. After bleeding stops, continue taking Baosheng Wuyou Fang.
Raw Bai Biandou (White Hyacinth Bean) peeled and ground into powder, mixed with rice soup and taken orally brings immediate peace. Alternatively, decoct into a thick liquid and drink. This condition involves moved fetal qi but not yet miscarriage; symptoms include locked jaw, spontaneous sweating, stiff arms, and drooping head, resembling stroke. Most people do not recognize this; treating it as a stroke will certainly lead to death. Be extremely cautious! Alternatively, use Baosheng Wuyou Fang (see previous section), which is very appropriate and effective.
In the days before delivery, the fetus inevitably descends, and frequent urination occurs, indicating impending labor. Cautious families should prepare necessary medicines and familiar midwives in advance to prevent emergencies. Additionally, burning dry lacquer residue or broken lacquerware allows the parturient to inhale the smoke, preventing syncope due to blood loss. Alternatively, place a red-hot stone in a basin, pour good vinegar on it, rotate it several times in the delivery room so the parturient frequently smells the vinegar vapor, also preventing syncope. Or, place a handful of raw leeks in a small-mouthed clay bottle, soak with hot vinegar, seal the large mouth, and hold the spout to the parturient's nose to inhale, which also stops syncope. Alternatively, collect five or six bowls of urine from a healthy young boy, store in a clean vessel, warm one or two cups, and have the parturient drink at the time of labor to naturally prevent syncope.
In the parturient's room, only allow one or two midwives, keep doors tightly closed, forbid strangers from coming and going, and strictly prohibit irrelevant people from asking questions or making a fuss. Wait until the amniotic sac breaks and the fetus has turned, approaching the cervical os. No need to exert force. At this moment, when the parturient cries out in pain and her body tilts, the attendant must not bind her waist, lest it injure the child. Instead, support her shoulders to prevent her from collapsing from exhaustion.
During labor, white honey, boiling water, thin porridge, and nutritious food must be readily available. If thirsty, take half a cup of white honey dissolved in boiling water to moisten dryness and lubricate the birth canal, facilitating easy delivery. If hungry, provide thin porridge or nutritious food to maintain middle Qi, ensuring natural ease of birth. During summer heat, sprinkle cold water in the room to dissipate stagnant heat. Open all windows wide, cover with thin paper curtains, keeping the parturient comfortably warm, so new blood does not flow recklessly, avoiding syncope.
During winter cold, ignite fires in various parts of the room to maintain spring-like warmth. Close doors and windows, seal cracks, to prevent pathogenic factors from entering, thereby avoiding wind-cold diseases.
At the time of labor, ensure all necessary items are prepared: matches, charcoal, pots, cones, scissors, hemp ropes, threads, and cloth.
