(The symptom of Qi Distension is) when the abdomen is pressed by hand, and the depression rebounds immediately upon release.
Prescription 1: Take one male pig stomach (cleaned of impurities), fill it with one large toad and one tael of crushed Amomum villosum (Sha Ren). Tie securely with old loofah fiber, boil in water until tender. Remove the medicinal materials, slice the pig stomach, and simmer it again in the original broth. Consume the original broth mixed with the sliced stomach.
Another Prescription: Take one piece of Gallus gallus domesticus gizzard lining (Ji Nei Jin), one qian each of Agarwood (Chen Xiang) and Amomum villosum (Sha Ren), and five qian of dried Citrus medica (Chen Xiang Yuan) with seeds removed. Grind all into a fine powder. Take 1.5 qian per dose, administered with ginger decoction. It is highly effective.
Another Prescription: Take one large toad and an unspecified amount of Amomum villosum (Sha Ren). Grind the Sha Ren into powder, stuff it into the toad until full, sew the mouth shut, and seal tightly with yellow mud. Roast over charcoal fire until red-hot. Allow to cool, then grind the toad into powder. Divide into three doses, taken with Chenpi (Citrus reticulata peel) decoction. Effectiveness is indicated by frequent flatulence; complete recovery occurs after two or three doses.
Another Prescription: Grind two taels of Raphanus sativus seed (Luo Bo Zi) into powder. Mash fresh Raphanus sativus (Luo Bo) and squeeze out the juice. Soak two taels of Amomum villosum (Sha Ren) in this juice overnight. Remove, dry, soak again, and dry again. Repeat this process seven times. Take one qian per dose, ground into powder and mixed with rice paste. It is highly effective.
Another Prescription: Stir-fry Polygala tenuifolia (Yuan Zhi) processed with ginger juice, five qian. Decoct in water and take orally. Recovery occurs once the Qi mechanism flows freely.
(The symptom of Blood Distension is) the whole body skin appears dark black, with purple-black spots within the skin.
Prescription 1: Take one male pig stomach (cleaned of grease and impurities), one tael of Rubia cordifolia (Qian Cao), four taels of male chicken feces (Chao Jiao - stir-fried until charred), one tael of Lemna minor (Zi Bei Fu Ping), and half a strip of old loofah fiber. Place all herbs inside the pig stomach, sew tightly with hemp thread. Boil according to the method for Water Distension described previously. After boiling, remove the herbs, slice the pig stomach, and return the slices to the original broth. Add leeches (burnt to retain efficacy), three qian of Drynaria roosii resin (Gan Xi) stir-fried until smoke ceases, and stir-fried Blatta orientalis (Mang Chong). [Text fragment missing regarding processing of other ingredients]. The goal is successful evacuation via stool. This is the primary prescription for treating Blood Distension.
Mercurius sublimatus corrodens (Qing Fen) two qian, Croton tiglium (Ba Dou) four qian (oil removed), Sulfur (Sheng Liu Huang) one qian. Grind together and form into cakes. First, apply a piece of new cotton wool to the umbilicus. Then place the medicine cake on top... [Text fragment missing].
Another Prescription: For patients with Water Distension or Qi Distension, consuming wild duck meat is most beneficial.
Another Prescription: Decoct straw used for roofing in water and pour into a basin. Sit over the basin to fumigate the area, and once the liquid is warm, wash the abdomen. Yellow fluid will be discharged via urination. After several sessions of fumigation and washing, recurrence is prevented permanently.
Another Prescription: Cow dung from a yellow cow (male dung for men, female dung for women, collected cleanly in April-May). Dry in shade, roast lightly over low fire until yellow, and grind into powder. Use one tael per dose, decoct in three bowls of wine until reduced to one bowl. Strain off the residue and drink only the wine. Three doses lead to complete recovery.
Another Prescription: Feed a rooster with barley for four to five days. Collect one sheng of its feces, stir-fry until yellow. Soak the feces in one bottle of good wine, boil down to one bowl. Strain the residue and have the patient drink one bowl. Soon, abdominal Qi will move vigorously with borborygmus, and swelling will gradually subside as material is evacuated via stool. If evacuation is incomplete, administer one or two more doses; complete resolution is certain. If diarrhea persists uncontrollably, cook four garden snails (Cipangopaludina chinensis) quenched in wine, consume them, and immediately follow with warm porridge. Once swelling has completely subsided, regulate the condition with Shengji Wan (Kidney Qi Pill), Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction), and other mild formulas. Chicken feces are excellent at expelling water and possess the nature of Earth, penetrating everywhere. It directs accumulated water entirely into the large intestine for excretion. This is a miraculous achievement rivaling creation itself, truly a secret formula worth ten thousand gold pieces. This is extremely effective for Water Distension, though its effect on other types of distension is slower.
Another Prescription: Take one bulb of Allium sativum (Du Tou Suan - single-clove garlic, peeled). Mix with 60-70% high-quality sweet wine and 20-30% distilled liquor (Baijiu), ensuring the alcohol covers the garlic... [Text fragment missing]. One dose eliminates the root cause. No need to avoid salt or soy sauce. Truly a celestial prescription.
Another Prescription: Take one watermelon. Cut off the top. If full of pulp, remove 30% of the pulp. Fill the cavity with garlic cloves. Replace the top. Place in a new clay pot, cover with another new clay pot, and steam until cooked. Consume the melon, garlic, and soup in two or three servings until fully resolved. No need to avoid salt or soy sauce.
Another Prescription: Take one male pig stomach, add four taels of garlic, and boil until tender. Eat plain (without seasoning) five or six pieces. Avoid salt, soy sauce, and vinegar for one hundred days. Swelling will naturally disappear. Miraculous effect.
[Fragmentary text]: Active during the Zi hour, cease at the next hour. Remove paper ash bone, use only clean fish and Vitriol (Zao Fan). Grind into powder and store. Take three qian per dose, administered with old rice decoction. This medicine moves Qi without causing purging, which is excellent.
Another Prescription: Take one radish, drill seven holes around it, insert seven seeds of Croton tiglium (Ba Dou), and plant in soil. Wait for it to produce seeds. Harvest the seeds and replant. When the radish matures, drill seven holes again, insert seven Ba Dou seeds, and replant. Repeat this cycle three times. On the fourth time, when flowers begin to bloom, pull up the entire plant including roots. Dry in shade and store in a clean porcelain vessel. When encountering distension disease, take one radish, crush it, decoct in water, and take orally. Severe cases recover immediately after two radishes. Those who are attentive should cultivate these in advance.
