A patient suffered from mental depression and listlessness, resembling illness symptoms. A renowned physician stated: "The heat syndrome is extreme, with qi and blood depleted. If not treated urgently, a large carbuncle will develop within one to two years, leading to death." The treatment was to eat one high-quality pear daily without interruption for one year. Following this regimen led to recovery. As pears spoil easily, refer to the subsequent food preservation methods for long-term storage.
Rehmannia Root (*Rehmanniae Radix*) 3 qian, Ophiopogon Tuber (*Ophiopogonis Tuber*) 2 qian, Schisandra Berry (*Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus*) 7 grains. Decoct in water and take continuously for three days; effectiveness is guaranteed.

Another formula: Grind a few qian of Sulfur (*Sulfurum*) and burn with cotton seeds to produce smoke for fumigation. Two or three applications eliminate them. The subsequent Cinnabar formula is most effective thereafter.
