Regardless of whether it is incense sticks or stick incense, grind them into a fine powder, mix with *Baijiu* (fermented spirit), and apply to the affected area for immediate cure.
If the sore has already formed a head or not yet, presenting with redness, heat, swelling, and pain without a visible pus point, or if there is a single yellow grain resembling a mustard seed, first paste a wet paper on the lesion. Observe where the paper dries first; this indicates the location of the abscess head. Take a single-clove garlic, slice it to the thickness of three coins, place it on the abscess head, and moxibustion with three cones (*Zhuang*). Replace with a new slice and continue moxibustion. For painful cases, moxibustion until pain ceases; for non-painful cases, moxibustion until pain arises. It is crucial to detect and treat early. For sores appearing within one or two days, ten treatments yield ten cures. After seven days, moxibustion is contraindicated! If there are dozens of heads, crush garlic into a paste, form into cakes, lay them over the area, and burn gathered mugwort (*Ai Ye*) above them to stabilize the condition. However, sores on the head and at the *Shenshu* (BL-23) acupoint must not be moxibusted, nor should individuals with severe deficiency of *Yuan Qi* (Original Qi).
Another prescription: Four slices of Pangolin Scales (*Chuan Shan Jia*), four taels of Yellow Ming Ox-hide Glue (*Huang Ming Niu Pi Jiao*), stir-fried until scorched on a new tile, ground into a fine powder and mixed evenly. Mix with wine and consume calmly; this ensures no major disaster. Externally, use ox-hide glue with a little ginger juice, boiled into a thin paste, spread on cloth and applied; this is excellent. This prescription has saved many people: for unruptured sores, it causes slight discharge of yellow fluid; for ruptured sores, it promotes wound closure.
Yet another prescription: Five qian of raw Licorice Node (*Gan Cao Jie*), three liang of Honeysuckle Flower (*Jin Yin Hua*), one tael of Angelica Root (*Dang Gui*), five qian of Scrophularia Root (*Yuan Shen*), two qian of Trichosanthes Root (*Hua Fen*), one qian of Alum (*Bai Fan*), one slice of Aconite Root (*Fu Zi*). Decoct in water and drink. For initial onset, one dose eliminates the swelling; for established swelling, two doses eliminate it.
One tael of Honeysuckle Flower (*Jin Yin Hua*), six qian of Zhejiang Fritillary Bulb (*Zhe Bei Mu*), five qian of Red Peony Root (*Chi Shao*), four qian of Angelica Tail (*Dang Gui Wei*), two qian of Scutellaria Root (*Huang Qin*), three qian of Licorice Node (*Gan Cao Jie*), half bowl of yellow wine, two bowls of water. Decoct and drink for cure.
Effective for carbuncles, back sores, and all unnamed stingy swellings and malignant ulcers. Hibiscus flower (*Fu Rong Hua*), quantity unspecified, based on the size of the sore, crush and apply around the affected area, leaving one opening for pus drainage. If not yet formed, apply everywhere; shrinking leads to resolution. If flowers are unavailable, dried ones suffice. Leaves and root bark are also excellent. Add a small amount of Adzuki Bean (*Chi Xiao Dou*) powder, mix with honey and tea for application; highly effective. Practitioners often keep this secret.
Another prescription: For any carbuncle, ulcer, swelling, or toxin causing heart-piercing pain, day and night crying, and insomnia, take two single-clove cloves of garlic, crush them, mix with sesame oil, and apply thickly to the sore. Change when dry.
