Refer to the section on "Yangmao Plague" (Wool Plague) later. Take a white Silkie chicken, slaughter it, cut it open, and remove the entrails; immediately apply the heart to the patient's chest, and they will recover. Alternatively, applying blood to the chest is also effective. Concurrently, boiling the chicken meat into a soup for consumption yields excellent results. Alternatively, cutting open a toad and applying it to the chest is also effective. After recovery, one must abstain from killing and practice releasing life to avoid reinfection.
Refer to the formulas for Yangmao Ding (Wool Carbuncle) in the Abscess and Toxicity section of Volume 11. For men, women, adults, or children who suddenly suffer from abdominal pain and die within one or two shichen (2–4 hours), medicines are too late to administer, and acupuncture is too late to perform. The only solution is to quickly go to the center of a cross-street or crossroads—places where people pass daily—and dig up several sheng (a unit of volume) of soil. Mix the soil with cold water to form pills the size of eggs. Rub these mud pills vigorously around the patient's navel and epigastrium for a long time. When the mud pill becomes slightly warm, break it open to inspect it. If wool-like fibers are found inside the pill, the diagnosis is confirmed as this disease. Replace with a new mud pill and continue rubbing until no more wool fibers appear. Even if the patient has ceased breathing but the body remains warm, they can still be treated. If no wool fibers are found after rubbing, it is not this disease, and other medical treatments should be sought.
Another formula: Use buckwheat flour and treat it according to the above method; this is even better.
This condition presents with swelling of the head and face, and blockage of the throat. Urgently take Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizome) half qian, Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit) and Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome) each one qian, Lilü (Veratrum Nigrum Rhizome) five fen, and Zhizhu Hua (Rhododendron Molliflorum Flower) two and a half fen. Grind them all into powder. Dip a paper wick in the medicine and push it into the nose to induce sneezing, three to five times a day; this is very effective. Sneezing out pus and blood is even better. Inability to sneeze indicates a difficult-to-treat case. Caregivers nearby using this method to induce sneezing will not become infected.
Another formula: Take over ten earthworms (also known as Qushan), place them in a bowl mixed with white sugar, cover the bowl tightly, and they will liquefy within half a day (must liquefy within one day at the latest). Must abstain... [text appears incomplete].
Another formula: Take a swallow's nest, including the mud and feces, pound it into a paste, mix with vinegar, and apply topically; immediate recovery occurs.
Another formula: Take Dianhua (Indigo Flower) three qian (those from Fujian are best), one egg white, and one cup of distilled liquor. Mix and ingest; miraculous effect.
Another formula: Take Douhei (Black Soybean) two he (a unit of volume), stir-fried until charred, together with Zhi Gancao (Prepared Licorice Root) one qian. Add two zhong (a unit of volume) of water, decoct until reduced to eight parts, and drink hot; miraculous effect.
Another formula: Grind Wuyu (Evodia Fruit) into powder, mix with vinegar, and apply to the sole of the foot. Remove after one week, and the swelling will subside. If not fully healed, reapply for another week; it will surely be effective.
