Moxibustion Method: Treats left hemiplegia and right hemiplegia, hemiplegia, pain in the hands, feet, waist, and limbs, as well as symptoms such as wind-dampness of the legs and foot pain. Take Zhen Jiangxiang (Dalbergia odorifera), Zhen Qiannianjian (Drynaria fortunei), Sheng Caowu (Aconitum carmichaelii raw), Naoyanghua (Daphne genkwa), each one qian; Sheng Chuanwu (Aconitum kusnezoffii raw) three qian; Zhen Shexiang (Moschus) three fen (must use Dangmenzi); Chen Ai (Artemisia argyi aged) six qian; Zuandifeng (Ligusticum chuanxiong) five fen; Baicaoshuang (soot from the bottom of the pot) three qian. Grind all into fine powder, spread on paper, roll into a tube, tightly seal with wheat paste, wrap securely with Wujin paper, and fumigate until one dose is consumed for recovery. Someone suffering from wind-stroke paralysis for over a year was cured according to this method. After recovery, avoid eating fish, seafood, raw, and cold foods for one month. For those with weak constitutions, the effect may be slightly slower.
Pill: This medicine brightens the eyes, darkens hair, strengthens the spleen and stomach, reinforces sinews and bones, and can treat stroke, deviation of the mouth and eye, joint pain, weakness in the lower back and knees, and paralysis of the hands and feet. It has been tried many times with miraculous results. Collect [Herb Name] on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, remove roots, flowers, and seeds, using only stems and leaves. Mix with wine and honey, steam for the time it takes to burn three incense sticks, then sun-dry for one day. Add more wine and honey, mix again, and steam again. Repeat this process nine times. Sun-dry, grind into fine powder, and form pills with refined honey to the size of a sophora seed. Take three qian per dose, washed down with rice soup. Preparation can also be done on the sixth day of the sixth month, seventh day of the seventh month, eighth day of the eighth month, or ninth day of the ninth month. The Materia Medica records two types of [Herb Name], differing between north and south; the southern type is called Huacai.
Tung Oil Pill: Treats men and women who have contracted wind-dampness, or indulged in alcohol and exposed themselves to wind, where internal dampness and external pathogens transmit to the four limbs, causing blockage and stagnation of the collaterals. This leads to soft, sore, and painful legs that cannot walk, or arms that are tethered and cannot raise. Laborers often suffer from this condition, which resembles wind-stroke paralysis. Taking this pill brings immediate and complete recovery. The medicine is inexpensive yet effective, truly a secret formula; do not underestimate it. Use one jin of Di Wutong (commonly known as Stinky Tung, using flowers, leaves, or stems, sliced, dried, and stir-fried) ground into powder; eight liang of [Herb Name] (stir-fried) ground into powder. Mix these two ingredients evenly, form pills with refined honey to the size of a tung seed, and take with warm water.
Gouji Yin (Dog Ridge Decoction): Treats deficiency of both qi and blood, numbness of the hands and feet, contraction of wind-dampness, and inability to move. Suitable for both men and women. Divide one prescription into five doses, taking one dose daily. Recovery occurs within six days. If not fully recovered, soak the herbs in ten jin of wine and drink. This prescription has been tested on hundreds of people with extraordinary efficacy; do not neglect it. Use Jinnan Gouji (Cibotium barometz), Chuan Niuxi (Achyranthes bidentata), Haifengteng (Vitis amurensis), Xuan Mugua (Chaenomeles speciosa), Sangshuzhi (Mulberry branch), Songshujie (Pine node), Xu Duan (Dipsacus asper), Du Zhong (Eucommia ulmoides), Qin Jiao (Gentiana macrophylla), Guizhi (Cinnamon twig - use lower part for lower body ailments), Shudi (Rehmannia glutinosa prepared) each one qian; Da Guishen (Angelica sinensis root head) two liang; Hugu Jiao (Bone of tiger glue) one liang (this ingredient is optional).
