Manifesting on the palms as purple and white mottled spots, with layers of peeling white skin that become hard and dry. In severe cases, the skin sheds in successive layers, exposing the underlying flesh and blood; it may be itchy or painful. If prolonged, it becomes a stubborn tinea (fungal infection) difficult to cure.
Take a large bowl and tightly seal the mouth with paper. Pierce multiple holes in the paper with a needle. Spread fine rice bran two to three cun thick on top. Use tweezers to place burning charcoal on the bran and slowly roast it. When the distance between the charcoal and the paper is about three fen, discard both the charcoal and the bran together (ensure the paper does not burn through). Collect the oil from the rice bran produced in the bowl.
Another prescription: Take one liang of authentic small-grind sesame oil and one qian of red arsenic (Red Arsenic). Crush the arsenic finely and mix it into the oil. Boil until the arsenic is dry and smoke dissipates. Remove the arsenic residue and retain the oil. Allow it to cool completely to eliminate residual heat. Warm the oil over fire and apply to the affected area three to five times. It will heal within ten days. This is most suitable for patients with Blood Cold syndrome. This is an extremely effective prescription by Linwu Shanshan.
Another prescription: Take two lead pellets (size of a walnut). Rub them in the hand daily until warm, then grip them tightly without ceasing day or night. For the specific treatment method, refer to the section on Grape Herpes (Grape Herpes) under Carbuncles and Toxins in Volume 11.
Use a small knife to slightly break the skin (or apply Da Dao San from the Carbuncles and Toxins section to facilitate rupture). Take genuine Borax (Borax), superior Borneol (Borneol) each one fen, and Calomel (Calomel) five li. Grind into powder. Mix with lard and sheep manure to apply externally. Alternatively, wash with water boiled horse manure.
Radix Euphorbiae Humifusae (Lulü), soaked in wine overnight, dried, and ground into powder. Take two qian per dose, mixed with wine and taken orally. It is quite effective.
Pain in the hands and feet is often mistaken for Heat in the Spleen Meridian, but it is actually due to Stagnation of Liver Wood (Liver Qi Stagnation). Dispersing the stagnant Qi will naturally relieve the pain. Use Xiaoyao San (see Miscellaneous Prescriptions for Internal and External Use) added with Fructus Gardeniae (Zhizi) three qian, Prepared Rhizoma Pinelliae (Zhi Banxia) and Semen Sinapis Albae (Bai Jie Zi) each two qian. Decoct in water and take two doses. The pain will vanish as if lost.
Take wooden boards from major intersections where many people have urinated, causing them to rot and turn white. Burn them with charcoal fire, grind into fine powder, add a small amount of Borneol (Borneol), and sprinkle on the lesion. It will heal immediately. Alternatively, treat according to various prescriptions for non-healing sores under the Carbuncles and Toxins section.
Semen Coicis (Yiyiren), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui), Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae (Qinjiao), Semen Ziziphi Spinosae (Suanzaoren), Radix Saposhnikoviae (Fangfeng), and Radix Notopterygii (Qianghuo) each five qian. Grind all into powder. Make honey pills the size of seeds of Euryale Ferox (Qianshi). Take with decoction of Herba Schizonepetae (Jingjie).
