For deficient persons, it is also called Changsheng Dan (Longevity Pill). This medicine replenishes essence and supplements marrow, strengthens sinews and muscles, reduces urination, and greatly fortifies bones and sinews. For those suffering from chronic waist and leg conditions, it can eliminate the root cause; white hair can turn black again, and fallen teeth can regrow.
He Shou Wu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix), Shi Chang Pu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) (each four liang).
The above herbs are coarsely chopped, placed in a porcelain pot with three sheng of wine, and slowly boiled until the wine is dry. Then, four liang of prepared Chuan Wu Tou (Aconiti Radix Preparata) are finely chopped and added to the above herb powder. The mixture is boiled with wine and processed into a paste made from flour to form pills.
Treatment for Hong Jiao Jiao (Gouty swelling of the lower legs) where cold pathogen transmits to the sinews, causing spasms and painful contraction.
Song Jie (Pinus Massoniana Node) (take the heart of the root among the hidden spirits, use one liang, grind into powder), Ru Xiang (Boswelliae Carterii Resina) (one qian).
The above herbs are fried in a silver or stone vessel until scorched, retaining only a small portion of their properties to remove fire toxicity. They are ground into fine powder. Each dose is one to two qian, taken with hot Mu Gua Jiu (Quince Wine). All sinus diseases should be treated with this method.
Treatment for toxic vapors attacking the heart, resulting in the absence of pulses in the hands and feet. This condition is difficult to treat, but this decoction is made out of necessity. If administered, seven or eight out of ten patients may recover. It specifically treats Hong Jiao Jiao entering the abdomen, causing severe distress, suffocation, and abdominal distension.
When Hong Jiao Jiao occurs, the abdomen feels stuffy and chaotic, with irritability, panting, and inability to breathe. If toxic-aggregating medicines are not used promptly, evil qi will internally fumigate the five zang organs, blocking the San Jiao (Triple Burner) and disrupting Ying and Wei (Defensive and Nutritive Qi), making treatment difficult. Consider that Lin Yin Chuang (Lichenoid dermatitis/weeping sores) starting from the limbs is easy to treat; even skin-originating sores without meridian involvement are manageable. How much more difficult is it when Wind-Toxin enters via meridians and connects internally to the five zang organs? In such cases of deep internal attack on the abdomen, nothing rescues from emergency better than Mu Gua Wan (Papaya Pill) and Zhu Yu Tang (Evodia Decoction). After administration, even if evil toxins and dampness abound, they have no way to enter.
Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus) (six sheng), Mu Gua (Chaenomeles Speciosae Fructus) (two large fruits).
The above two ingredients are boiled in thirteen sheng of water until three sheng remain. Divide into three doses. Alternatively, recovery may occur through sweating or vomiting. Su Gong stated: administering this formula to treat this disease is very effective, but long-term use yields results. Some versions include Xiang (possibly referring to a specific aromatic herb, context unclear, possibly missing name or typo in source, kept as 'Xiang') three liang and Xi Jiao Xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu Fragmenta) two liang. It is also said that this formula addresses acute conditions.
Treatment for Kidney Wind-Toxin flowing and accumulating, causing sores on the feet and knees that are purple-black and do not heal for a long time.
Huang Bo (Phellodendri Amurensis Cortex) (one liang), Cong Gen (Allii Fistulosi Radix) (a handful of stems/roots).
The above two ingredients are pounded together into a paste, then dried and ground into a fine powder. For each application, depending on the size of the sore, mix with honey, spread on paper, and apply as a patch. First, wash the sore with warm water using an amount equivalent to two or three qian, wipe dry, and then apply.
